Wild About Flowers
I love flowers – any kind of flowers, but most of all wildflowers. And Wild About Flowers is a favorite two-step stamp set this year from the Stampin’ Up! 2015-16 Annual Catalog. So often we immediately go to pinks and blues for flowers, but I wanted to show you a bit different color scheme for this set. I’ve used Soft Suede, Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey with a touch of Gold for a more Fall-like feel. Don’t get me wrong – I’m not rushing the end of the summer! We still have weeks left of gorgeous weather. But this color combo is a bit more subtle, maybe for a bit more somber occasion.
- I was trying my hand at a different sized card when I began this project. My card ended up being 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, just a little bit taller than the Stampin’ Up! Notecards (which are 3-1/2″ x 5″). To make this size card, you’ll want to cut your base cardstock (in this case Whisper White) at either 5-1/2″ x 7″ for a side opening or at 3-1/2″ x 11″ for a top opening.
- The pretty Mossy Meadow designer paper is from the English Garden Designer Series Paper pack. I love that there are “quieter” prints on one side and “busier” prints on the reverse side, giving you lots of choices.
- The main image Whisper White Cardstock piece measures 2-1/2″ x 3″ and is stamped first in Mossy Meadow Ink to create the stems then in Hello Honey Ink to add on the flowers. Don’t forget the Dimensionals to raise up that main image!
- A very thin piece of Hello Honey Cardstock measuring 1/4″ x 3-1/4″ finishes off the bottom of the main image nicely.
- “You’ll be missed” is just one of the many very usable sentiments in this set. I’ve stamped it tone-on-tone with Soft Suede then punched it out with the 1-3/8″ Circle Punch. The smallest of the Gold Metallic Foil Doilies is just the right size to back the sentiment.
- Before adding on the sentiment circle, I used some Gold Metallic Thread behind it to soften the look of the card.
- And of course, with the Envelope Punch Board, it’s a snap to create not only a coordinating envelope using Hello Honey Cardstock, but it’s just the right size, too.
