Le Jardin Botanique

Here's a card using a stamp set that isn't seen very much called Le Jardin Botanique. It's a beautiful stamp set with lots of nature components. It's also been used on the November Card Kit of the Month. (You can access that page by clicking on "Card Kits" in the navigation bar under the banner at the top of the page).

I started out my card with a Chocolate Chip base, then added a piece of Autumn Meadows Designer Series Paper. I then folded down the top right corner, set a Very Vanilla Basic Jumbo Grommet in the corner and added a knot of 1-14" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Chocolate Chip. Mini Glue Dots work wonderfully to hold this ribbon in place. The sentiment is one I love, and it's stamped on Very Vanilla card stock with Chocolate Chip Classic ink. I punched the edge with the Spiral Punch, then added some Chocolate Chip Classic ink around the edges with a sponge to give it a distressed look. The main image is also stamped lightly over the words, although it doesn't show up that well in the photo.

For the main image, I started with a piece of Very Vanilla card stock, stamped the image in Basic Brown ink, then colored it in with an Aqua Painter and my ink pads in Taken with Teal and Chocolate Chip. It's backed with a torn piece of Taken With Teal card stock, and I've roughed up the edges even more by bending them in. I used Dimensionals liberally to pop up all of the layers.

You'll see a rectangular area of sponging around the main image and I wanted to show you how I created a very simple template to do that.

I've taken the 1-1/4" Square Punch and punched once on some scrap card stock. Then I moved the punch up and punched again to create a rectangle. By doing this, you can make it as long as you'd like.

Now I've laid the sponging template over my main image. I've cut a Stamping Sponge into six pieces and using one of those pie-shaped sponges and my Chocolate Chip Classic ink, I sponged lightly over top of the berries and branch.
