Good Ole Lovely as a Tree

Clovely

Here's a card that features the new and the old.  The new is our beautiful Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper, with a wonderful Fall palette of Chocolate Chip, Crushed Curry, Soft Sky, and Tangerine Tango.  I added a sliver of Smoky Slate cardstock behind the tree image.  The old are two stamp sets that have been around a very long time – Lovely as a Tree and Teeny Tiny Wishes.  In fact, I think Lovely as a Tree is the oldest stamp set in our Annual Catalog!  Both sets have been updated to be available in clear mount if you choose.

  • I love that I can use different coordinating sheets of designer paper all in one card, and Stampin' Up! has done the work of matching them up for me.
  • Linen Thread is the perfect fiber for Fall.  And I've added a simple Tangerine Tango Candy Dot from the Brights Candy Dots along with a Candy Dot Brad Base.

A Look at the new In Colors

Here's my third and final posting of new colors in the color renovation for the 2010-11 Idea Book & Catalog.  Stampin' Up! has given us a gorgeous new In Color palette, and we're fortunate enough to have these beautiful colors staying on for TWO years instead of just one!  I'll give you the names below each card that I've made with Elements of Style stamp set.  Greetings are from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Peach Parfait – A yummy strong peach – maybe think a light Pumpkin Pie.

Pear Pizzazz – I was really disappointed that Kiwi Kiss didn't make it back to the Core Colors, but this luscious green is almost it!  It's a little less bright and pairs beautifully (no pun intended!) with Wild Wasabi and Garden Green.

Poppy Parade – When I look at Poppy, I think it's just red, but put it next to Real Red and you'll see that it has a lot of orange to it.  We really don't have anything like this brand new color!

Concord Grape – When I first saw this color, I was convinced I'd never use it.  After all, we have Elegant Eggplant.  It was only on my shelf about a week before I made THIS CARD and now I'm absolutely lovin' it!

Blushing Bride – This is such a pretty soft mauve.  I had originally thought it might replace Blush Blossom, but it's quite a bit darker and much pinker.  Beautifully soft and feminine.

A Look at the Returning In Colors

It's so fun to reconnect with old friends!  Please welcome back some of our favorite In Colors from the past, now becoming Core Colors and staying with us for a good long while!  I'm continuing my grouping of 4" x 4" cards and showing you samples of the colors we've all been missing.  To see a past post on new Core Colors using the same cards, click HERE.  I used Elements of Style to stamp each card, along with sentiments from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Each color name is listed below the card.

Baja Breeze – will be joining our Subtles Collection and is lighter with a bit more green than Bashful Blue.

Riding Hood Red – Just a bit "quieter" than Real Red and not as dark as Cherry Cobbler, this red is sure to fit into lots of your projects!  This beautiful color will join our Regals Collection.

River Rock – Returning in the Neutrals Collection, this color is a chameleon!  Its color changes depending on what it's paired with.  It's probably considered a true khaki.

Wild Wasabi – A lighter version of Garden Green, this gorgeous color is returning as part of the Subtles Collection.

Tangerine Tango – This Brights Collection addition is a combination of Only Orange and Pumpkin Pie.

Pacific Point – One of the most gorgeous blues we've had, this is the updated Brilliant Blue for the Brights Collection.

Be sure to purchase all of the new Stampin' Up! colors when they're available on July 1st.

A Look at the new Core Colors

There are now less than 2 weeks until the release of the 2010-11 Idea Book & Catalog, and the hot news is, of course, the huge color renovation!  I created this group of 4" x 4" cards to show you all of the brand new Core Colors that Stampin' Up! has added to the palette.  I used Elements of Style to stamp each card, along with sentiments from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Each color name is listed below the card.

Daffodil Delight:  Finally – a really useful bright yellow!  Think Summer Sun updated for 2010.

Some “left over” Valentines!

Gosh, where did Valentine's Day go?  I thought I had forever to get all of my Valentine's ideas out there. Sad to say that it's time to stop!  But just a couple more, please!  Here are the valentines I made especially for my four grandbabies.

All of the cards use the stamp set Whoo's Your Valentine.  If you have young ones in your life, or if you're just young at heart, you may want to purchase this darling stamp set and put it away for next year.  You could also use the images without the sayings for birthdays and other occasions.

This card is for Jackson — the youngest of my clan at just 2 months old.  I borrowed the branch from Cheep Talk stamp set for the cute little Valentines owl to sit upon.  When I mounted the owl and the saying, I cut them apart so that I could mount them separately and use them with or without each other.  The designer papers come from the Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper Pad Welcome Neighbor that is free with a $50 purchase.  I added some scrumptious 3/4" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon.  I love that this is two sided.  When all the ribbon being polka dots is too much for your card, you can just use the other side that is beautifully stitched in white down both sides!  The image is colored in with Stampin' Write Markers, and the color scheme is Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Old Olive.

Next is a darling train card for both of the bigger boys — Liam age 2 and Landon age 10 mos.  I got the color scheme from the heart designer paper, again from the Welcome Neighbor paper pad.  It's Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red.  I colored in the train with my Stampin' Write Markers and added a Red Corduroy Button for interest.

And finally, here's a card for the little Princess of the family, Quinn.  She's my only chance to use "girly" colors, so my color scheme is Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink and Eggplant Envy.  The heart stamp is from Priceless stamp set and is stamped in Melon Mambo Classic Ink.  The sentiment comes from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is stamped in Eggplant Envy Classic Ink then punched out with the Modern Label Punch.  I didn't have any Melon Mambo brads, so I used the circles from the grid on the Mat Pack and colored them in with a Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker, then mounted the piece on Dimensionals.  I tied snips of different matching ribbons to the sucker stick — Melon Mambo Polka Dot Grosgrain, Pretty in Pink Grosgrain and the Elegant Eggplant rick-rack from the Orchard Ribbon Originals.

Bearing Gifts Christmas Card

I’m just tickled with the way this card turned out!  I played a color challenge where the colors to use were Barely Banana, Rich Razzleberry and Always Artichoke. I also bought some gift baskets from Manly Man Gift Baskets to go with my card. Well, I “choked” on the “Artichoke” and had to use Old Olive instead!  Here’s my card:

Don’t you just LOVE these colors together for Christmas!  I started out using a base card stock of Rich Razzleberry and stamped it with the same color ink with the Sanded background stamp.  Next came my Circle Scissors Plus, and I cut one circle from Barely Banana card stock and the other a bit smaller from the pretty pine print from Merry Moments Designer Series Paper.  The Circle Scissors Plus makes layering circles as easy as can be!  I mounted that on Dimensionals and added a Jumbo Paper Clip from the Assorted Clips packet tied with Old Olive 5/8″ Grosgrain Ribbon and Rich Razzleberry 1/2″ Polka Dot Ribbon.  Next came my main image, stamped from Bearing Gifts.  This is a single stamp in the Holiday Mini Catalog and sells for just $8.95.  I stamped the image in VersaMark, then sprinkled on Black Embossing Powder and used my Heat Tool to set it.  I colored the images in with a Blender Pen and my stamp pads in Rich Razzleberry, Barely Banana, Old Oive and Close to Cocoa.  The image has a “To” and “From” where I stamped “Merry Christmas”, so I just covered those words with a Post-It Note before inking my stamp.  Just remember to remove the mask before stamping on the paper!  Then the “Merry Christmas” is stamped in Close to Cocoa Classic ink to match the bear.  It comes from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  That’s mounted on Old Olive card stock and then adhered with Dimensionals.

Here’s a close-up of the embossing and coloring.

THINGS YOU’LL NEED:

Item No. 116531 Bearing Gifts   $8.95

Continuing with the Christmas Card Parade

Have you gotten the idea yet?  Now's the time to formulate your plan for your Christmas cards and get to work!  Won't your friends and family be impressed by your hand-made creations this year?  Here are some more great ideas from The Heartfelt Stampers team of Stampin' Up! demonstrators.

This card is from Christine Luce who wanted to create a Christmas card with non-traditional Christmas colors.  All images come from a cute little set in the Idea Book & Catalog called Sparkly & Bright.  At $17.95, it contains lots of images and a greeting stamp and would be a very affordable choice to create darling cards and tags.  Christine added lots of interest to her card — White Gel Pen colors in some of the snowflake points and the Scallop Circle Punch addes a fun border around her main image which contains lots of colored brads adorning the tree.  Don't you just love how Stampin' Up! has color coordinated all of its products for that perfectly finished look?  Here the brads match the ink and the card stock perfectly!

Next is also a card using non-traditional Christmas colors.  Davina Allgrim chose the Serene Snowflakes stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog for this beauty.  I love how she brought in shimmer using three coordinating products — Sliver Metallic Encore Pad for stamping the snowflakes, Brushed Silver card stock and silver Brads.  The "Merry Christmas" greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  This fabulously useful set is designed to fit many of the Stampin' Up! punches, as you see here.  Davina used the Word Window Punch to punch out her sentiment and then adhered it to an additional punch from the Scallop Oval Punch.
