Happy Birthday Blooms

BirthdayBloms

Birthday Bouquet is another beautiful suite in the Stampin’ Up! 2016 Occasions Catalog.  Having a suite of products that coordinates perfectly completely takes the guesswork out of what to use to create a gorgeous card – Stampin’ Up! does it all for us!  I’ve only used a few of the products highlighted in the catalog, but feel free to add more!

  • A beautiful designer paper like Birthday Bouquet DSP is the perfect place to begin a card.  Here I’ve used two of these prints combined with the Blushing Bride and White diagonal stripe from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack.
  • The pretty background created allows our sweet sentiment from Birthday Blooms stamp set to shine.  Stamped in Pool Party ink and cut out with the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch, it’s the perfect focal point to our quick and easy card.

  • The new Pool Party Glitter Ribbon is SCRUMPTIOUS!  I was a little hesitant to order it because usually glitter means it’s stiff.  But this is so soft and ties really nicely!
  • In case you’d like to copy this layout using this designer paper or any other pretty papers, the three designer pieces each measure 1-1/2″ x 3″.
  • It seems I use the Petite Petal Punch a lot – it’s just the right touch to so many cards!

  • For one of the flower centers, I used a Metal Rimmed Pearl; the other flower center is a Pool Party button from the Subtles Designer Buttons pack threaded through the center with White Baker’s Twine.  Don’t forget your Glue Dots for adhering the button!

Have A Cuppa is Tea-riffic

HaveACuppa1

Today I have two versions of the same card and I need your help – which do you like best?  Leave me a comment and vote for “tea-riffic” or “it’s your day”.   It’s all about the Have A Cuppa product suite in the Stampin’ Up! 2016 Occasions Catalog.  This is one set that I’ll never part with, even when it retires.  I absolutely love the coordination between the stamped images in A Nice Cuppa stamp set and the Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies.  And right now you can bundle the two together and save 15%.

  • Color scheme is Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Pool Party and Whisper White – lots of the most popular Stampin’ Up! colors!
  • The Have A Cuppa Designer Paper is 48 sheets, 4 each of 12 double-sided designs in a 6″ x 6″ stack and has a wonderful mix of bolder prints and prints that are more tone-on-tone.
  • Take a snip of Melon Mambo Cardstock and the heart punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack to create the little heart motif.   A Rhinestone Jewel is the perfect accent for the heart.  And this week, Rhinestones are a part of the Weekly Deals – marked down to just $3.75!

HaveACuppa2

  • This version features the Fabulous Four stamp set – perfect to send this card as a birthday card.
  • For both cards, I stamped the cup in Bermuda Bay ink and the lemon in Crushed Curry ink.  The cup has a framelit that works nicely to cut it out and I used my Paper Snips for cutting out the lemon.  I also added a slice in the center so that it can look like it’s sitting on the cup’s rim.  A Dimensional on the front piece of the lemon really makes it come to life.
  • Wisteria Wonder Seam Binding Ribbon is the perfect accent for my card.  It matches the designer paper perfectly and ties beautifully around the cup handle.

Apple of My Eye

AppleOfMyEye

Apple of My Eye is the “sweetest” stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! 2016 Occasions Catalog!  I’m kind of a “foodie” so this one really appeals to me.  And I love that we’ve been given a fun, coordinating designer paper in the Annual Catalog – Farmers Market.  It also made me remember the “rock and roll” stamping technique that I haven’t used in a long time.

  • To create the pears, I stamped first with Hello Honey stamp pad, then used an Old Olive stamp pad and just touched the edges of the stamp to that color.
  • Try offsetting your circles for a more unpredictable look.  The top-selling Framelits are the Circle Framelits – they’re a must have!
  • There’s a trend in stamping that I haven’t fully embraced yet with the “nest” of fibers behind an image.  I’m really trying but my neat and tidy Type A personality is struggling with this look!  But I do think I like the Linen Thread behind the circles.  What do you think?  Are you having fun with this popular accent?

AppleOfMyEyecloseup

  • I decided to try something a little different with the Black Satin Ribbon.  I cut off a small piece and tucked the right end under the circles.  Then I tied a separate small bow, dovetailing the ends with my Paper Snips and adhering it to the left end of the flat ribbon with a Glue Dot.  I like the tailored yet kind of elegant look with this card.

And just announced this morning – this week’s Weekly Deals!  Click on the images to learn more about each product.

Bloomin’ Love Valentine

Bloomin Love Valentine

We’ve all fallen in love with the Love Blossoms bundle in the Stampin’ Up! 2016 Occasions Catalog!  The Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies are delicate and detailed and oh, so pretty!  But let’s explore the pretty Bloomin’ Love stamp set a bit more!  For this card, I didn’t use the large heart thinlit, but I did use the two small flower thinlits that are also contained in the set.

  • Like so often, my color scheme comes from the Love Blossoms designer paper that is part of the Love Blossoms suite – Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake (I changed it to Sahara Sand), Garden Green, Rose Red and Whisper White.
  • I’ve used a piece of that designer paper 2″ wide to set the stage.  Sahara Sand Lace borders the edge – use Fast Fuse Adhesive to hold the lace to the back of the designer paper.
  • The Garden Green tag gets its pretty topper from the Ornate Tag Topper Punch.
  • I stamped the heart image from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set in Garden Green ink on Whisper White cardstock.  There isn’t a framelit to cut this heart shape, so I just “fussy cut” around the image with my Paper Snips.
  • I added a bit of Sahara Sand Lace and White Baker’s Twine through the top.

Bloomin Love Valentine closeup

  • Flowers are cut out using the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies in both Rose Red and Blushing Blossom cardstock.  They’re adhered at different levels using either SNAIL Adhesive or Dimensionals.
  • I added Pearl Jewels to each flower center.

Bloomin Love Valentine inside

  • No room for a sentiment on the front of the card, but that’s okay – you have the full inside of the card to say what you’d like!  And you can also dress it up with leftover designer paper to coordinate with the front.

And Weekly Deals were announced this morning!  Add on your favorite deal to your Valentine’s order!

Groovy Kind of Love Valentine

Groovy L ove Valentine

Our next card-giving holiday is Valentine’s Day, and it’s my favorite holiday for which to create cards.  This year, Stampin’ Up! has given us so many Valentine’s Day products, both in the new 2016 Occasions Catalog and in the larger Annual Catalog, I’m not sure I’ll be able to show them all!

  • For this card, I’m once again combining the old and the new.  Groovy Love is a – well – “groovy” stamp set in the Annual Catalog that coordinates with the Sweetheart Punch.  I love all the different images and sentiments in this one set – it could keep you busy for a long time!
  • In the Occasions Catalog, there is a paper stack called Have A Cuppa.  It goes with our tea suite and it is so adorable!  But I thought I’d wait until Mother’s Day to show all of the cuteness to this suite.  Looking through the papers, I noticed that there are several pieces with hearts, so it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, too!  And as always, using Stampin’ Up! designer paper gives you a “no-brainer” color scheme for your card.  I just picked up the colors in the designer paper to use as my solids – Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate (although the designer paper is Basic Gray, but I wanted a lighter feel).
  • A really pretty new accent in the Occasions Catalog are the Botanical Gardens Jewels.  It’s a pretty silver flower with attached rhinestone in the center.  I’m going with the “flower power” idea on my groovy card!
  • It’s really fun to create custom-sized cards so that you’re not always locked into filling the standard space.  This card measures 3-1/2″ x 6″ so that I could take advantage of a longer, thinner card front.  And I can easily create the perfect-sized envelope using the Envelope Punch Board.  All I needed was an 8″ x 8″ piece of cardstock and the instructions on the board.  I like Multipurpose Adhesive to put my envelope together.  And while you’re making your envelope, you can use the Punch Board to round the corners on the designer paper – a two-in-one tool!

Groovy Love Valentine alone

  • Here’s a close-up photo so you can see the Botanical Garden Jewels accessory a little better.  They’re super easy to use – just adhere with a Glue Dot.  Pick up a container or two on your next order!
