So Grateful Birthday

grateful birthday
I had a slew of birthday cards to send this month, so I made a large group of this pretty card featuring So Very Grateful stamp set.  It was super easy putting it together when you have pretty designer paper like Sweet Sorbet Sale-A-Bration paper to use!  Color scheme is all set for you – Basic Black, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Pool Party and Summer Starfruit – yum!

  • So Very Grateful has several coordinating images.  I stamped the tone-on-tone flower image with one stamp then used the larger stamp to create the main image using VersaMark Ink, Black Embossing Powder and heat setting it with my Heat Tool.
  • Watercoloring is a snap with the Aqua Painter and stamp pads.  I love watercoloring inside heat-embossed images.  It's kinda like embroidering or cross-stitching when you add the black around the image and it comes to life!
  • My very favorite corner rounder?  The Envelope Punch Board!
  • The black zig-zag edge is from the Tasteful Trim Bigz Die – I use this all the time!  (If you follow my blog you know what I mean!)
  • "Happy Birthday" is from a hostess-exclusive stamp set called Express Yourself.  And what better month to host a workshop than March – earn $30 more hostess dollars with a workshop over $300!  Or get together a few friends and host your own online workshop to qualify.
  • A Black Candy Dot is my only embellishment so as not to detract from the embossed and watercolored flowers.

Fresh Prints and So Very Grateful

red thank you

The bright, cheery colors of Fresh Prints Designer Paper take center stage in this card, another using So Very Grateful stamp set.  I sure am going to miss this beautiful set when the Occasions Catalog retires June 1st.  I'm having such fun with it – it's so easy to use!

  • I began my main image with Real Red cardstock and heat embossed the flower image using VersaMark Ink and White Embossing Powder.  Next I used my Real Red stamp pad and Aqua Painter to give some depth of color to the center rose.
  • I added Rhinestones to the center flower and also to the bottom corner on top of some Baked Brown Sugar circles made with the Owl Punch.
  • The Coastal Cabana Ruffle Trim is so pretty and easy to work with – it ties a really nice knot.
  • Thank you is stamped with Baked Brown Sugar ink.

I'd love some feedback – do you like the new way I'm giving you the product list so that you have pictures of all of the items used?  Leave me a comment!

Afternoon Picnic and So Very Grateful

afternoon picnic thank you

We had a fun sketch challenge the other day over on our team Facebook page.  One of our demonstrators gave us a challenge to follow a sketch she'd drawn, and here's what I came up with.  I pulled out my Afternoon Picnic that had gotten dusty over the winter and started looking at the pretty color scheme – Basic Gray, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz and Wisteria Wonder.  While I didn't ultimately use much of the DSP (Just the Wisteria Wonder grid for the back layer), it did get me started on a great color palette for this floral card using So Very Grateful stamp set.

Interested in joining my team and linking to our private Facebook page?  There's no better time than during Sale-A-Bration!  From now until March 31st, receive $25 more in your starter kit for the same low price of $99.  Then receive 30% off on your first qualifying order, and 20% off all of your orders after that!  Read more about my team here!  Ready to join?  Click here to begin.

  • The Coastal Cabana DSP that came in Afternoon Picnic was too light and busy, so I grabbed a piece from the 2013-15 Designer Series Paper Stack.  It had a white background, and my card was more vanilla, so I used a sponge and Crumb Cake ink and went over the paper lightly to "dirty" it up.
  • The Finishing Touches Edgelit worked well with the look of the Doily and tied in my lacy theme.  Pearls accent both the flowers and the strip to the side to complete this look – definitely feminine and a little vintage.
  • The flowers from So Very Grateful were stamped in StazOn Black Ink then watercolored in with Aqua Painters and stamp pads.  I used Watercolor Paper for this main image to get the best results.

To achieve some nice shading on your flowers, start out by using a little bit more water on your Aqua Painter and go over the entire image lightly.  Let it dry then come back in with more color and go over certain spots you want darker.  I did this with the Crushed Curry flowers, making the centers a bit darker.

Golden Friends

trial watermark

Were any of you Girls Scouts?  I was thinking about the song that goes "Make new friends but keep the old.  One is silver and the other's gold."  And so I translated that into a gold card for a good friend.  Stampin' Up! has lots and lots of gold and silver accessories right now, so this card came together in a jiff.  But this card presented a different sort of challenge – it was super hard to get a good photo of it!  It looks much better "in person"!

  • Just Very Vanilla cardstock used here!  The flowers from So Very Grateful look really elegant when stamped in VersaMark Ink and heat embossed using Gold Embossing Powder.  I rounded the corners using my Envelope Punch Board – best darned corner rounder ever!
  • Gold Baker's Twine is wrapped around three times and tied in a pretty bow.  Love this stuff!
  • There's a Gold Vellum overlay on about 2/3rds of the card, then a strip of Gold Foil Sheet.  To successful attach the Gold Vellum to the Very Vanilla cardstock, I used a Glue Dot in each of the four corners.  It shows ever so slightly but is nice and neat.
  • "My Friend" comes from the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set and is also heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder, punched out with the 1-1/4" Circle Punch.
  • I added a gold flower using the Boho Flower Punch and Gold Foil Sheet then slipped in a Jumbo Pearl for the center.

Do you have a special "golden friend"?  Why not try out an all-gold card.  it would be great for a golden anniversary, too.

Simple Stems So Grateful

raspberry flower

Today's the last day to purchase this week's Weekly Deals.  My favorite product on sale is the Tasteful Trims Die – I truly use it all the time.  It's perfect for cards and scrapbooking, since the die cuts 12" strips.  Now's the time to pick it up on sale for just $32.21!  Notice the scalloped white cardstock on the left is created with this fantaastic die.

I hope you enjoy seeing this card today.  I had some time over the weekend to just play, and it's so much fun to create with no time pressure or class in mind!  It's a unique color scheme for me – Pear Pizzazz, Elegant Eggplant, Bermuda Bay and Raspberry Ripple.  And it's a real crossover, since each color is in a different color collection.

  • Simple Stems stamp set is used for the flower and stem.  I stamped the flower 3 times, cut out three layers of the flower and assembled them one on top of the other with Dimensionals, then added a Bermuda Bay Candy Dot.
  • The sentiment is from So Very Grateful stamp set, stamped in Elegant Eggplant and mounted over the stem with Dimensionals.
  • I added a Bermuda Bay cardstock piece cut out with the Deco Label Framelits to the bottom.
  • A pretty piece of Raspberry Ripple 3/8" Stitched Satin Ribbon ties it all together!

And don't forget about all the other great products, on sale just today!

So Very Grateful for Sale-A-Bration!

Flower thank you

Okay.  I admit it.  I LOVE to color.  In fact, I actually received a brand new beautiful box of crayons for a Christmas gift when I was 20 years old!  And so my addiction hasn't strayed too far, since I can now do "grow-up" coloring with my Stampin' Up! products.  You can imagine that So Very Grateful was one of the very first stamp sets I purchased from the Occasions Catalog this year.  I definitely saw the "coloring" possibilities!  Here I used my stamp pads in Crisp Cantalope, Pistachio Pudding and Pool Party along with an Aqua Painter to color in the pretty flower image and punched the image out with a 2-1/2" Circle Punch.

And Sale-a-Bration is in full swing with a beautiful brochure of free items you can choose with each purchase of $50 from now until March 31st.  I'm highlighting two coordinating products you can receive free – the Sweet Sorbet Designer Paper and the Sweet Sorbet Accessory Pack.  In the accessory pack, you'll receive three spools of special twine in Crisp Cantalope, Pool Party and Summer Starfruit, plus fun printed adhesive-backed cork pieces.
