Christmas Birdie

SAMSUNG DIGITAL CAMERA

There are so many beautiful brand new stamp sets in the Holiday Catalog, that I almost forgot to pull out some tried and true "oldies" from my shelf!  I'm featuring Serene Snowflakes and For the Birds stamp sets in my card today.  While I love the new Festive Flurry snowflake stamp set, I still enjoy having Serene Snowflakes for the smaller images.

  • Stumped for a fun color combination?  Just turn to the Color Coach!  This is my shoebox swap from our weekend retreat.  I really like to use unusual colors for my Christmas cards, and I chose Bermuda Bay as my color for our swap.  When I headed to my Color Coach for help, I found that adding Crisp Cantaloupe and Baked Brown Sugar made for perfect colors for my card.
  • For the Birds is a terrific set to have on hand.  There are images for lots of different occasions.
  • You'll need the Circle Collection Framelits to cut a nice large circle for the backdrop.
  • I stamped the image in Black StazOn Ink on Naturals White cardstock then watercolored with an Aqua Painter.
  • Dazzling Diamonds and 2-Way Glue Pen adds a splash of ice underneath our skating friend.
  • Love our Bermuda Bay 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon – perfect for this card.
  • Add a couple of Rhinestones to the centers of the snowflakes.

Christmas Snowflakes and Updates

Team Member Ruth Petrovich made the perfect Christmas card for her swap for the Regional Seminar in September, and I wanted to share her gorgeous card with you.  Ruth chose the Jolly Holiday Designer Series Paper to work with.  The color scheme of that paper is Cherry Cobbler, Old Olive and Very Vanilla.  But Ruth's supplies at home didn't include the Cherry Cobbler card stock and seam binding, so she switched it to Real Red.  With this small striped pattern, it worked out just fine!  Ruth ran her Old Olive card stock through the Big Shot using the Textured Impressions Square Lattice Embossing Folder.  The snowflakes are from Serene Snowflakes and are stamped in Real Red, Old Olive and Sahara Sand Classic Ink on Very Vanilla card stock.  The Merry Christmas sentiment is stamped in Whisper White Craft Ink with the Christmas Greetings stamp set.  She added a Basic Rhinestone Jewel to one of the centers.  Fabulous card, Ruth!

Continuing with the Christmas Card Parade

Have you gotten the idea yet?  Now's the time to formulate your plan for your Christmas cards and get to work!  Won't your friends and family be impressed by your hand-made creations this year?  Here are some more great ideas from The Heartfelt Stampers team of Stampin' Up! demonstrators.

This card is from Christine Luce who wanted to create a Christmas card with non-traditional Christmas colors.  All images come from a cute little set in the Idea Book & Catalog called Sparkly & Bright.  At $17.95, it contains lots of images and a greeting stamp and would be a very affordable choice to create darling cards and tags.  Christine added lots of interest to her card — White Gel Pen colors in some of the snowflake points and the Scallop Circle Punch addes a fun border around her main image which contains lots of colored brads adorning the tree.  Don't you just love how Stampin' Up! has color coordinated all of its products for that perfectly finished look?  Here the brads match the ink and the card stock perfectly!

Next is also a card using non-traditional Christmas colors.  Davina Allgrim chose the Serene Snowflakes stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog for this beauty.  I love how she brought in shimmer using three coordinating products — Sliver Metallic Encore Pad for stamping the snowflakes, Brushed Silver card stock and silver Brads.  The "Merry Christmas" greeting is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  This fabulously useful set is designed to fit many of the Stampin' Up! punches, as you see here.  Davina used the Word Window Punch to punch out her sentiment and then adhered it to an additional punch from the Scallop Oval Punch.
