Retro Fresh Journaling Tags for Cards

Retro Fresh Journaling Tags for cards

Here’s a simply, no-stamping card made with some of the products in the Retro Fresh collection – the Retro Fresh This and That Washi Tape and the Journaling Tags.  I did add a strip of Crumb Cake Washi Tape from the Epic Day trio because I needed 4 different tapes.

If you were like me and didn’t give these little cards much attention, now’s the time!  They are in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog and are just $4.95 for 1 each of 32 designs in 3 different sizes.  And while I was planning this card, I realized (you’ll say duh, Kriss!) that these Journaling Tags are also perfect for the new Project Life line of products that Stampin’ Up! is now carrying.  The 3″x4″ cards will fit perfectly into the Project Life page protector pockets.  You’ll take the 3″x3″ Retro Fresh cards and back them with cardstock measuring 4″x4″ and they’re ready to slip in, too!

Here’s what a few of them look like.  Remember, you get 32 designs!

This card went together in a snap.

  • I used a So Saffron cardstock base and began my design on a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock.
  • Simply lay on the Washi Tape in whatever pattern suits you then fold the edges around the corners to the back of the cardstock.
  • I trimmed down the “high 5” card ever so slightly so that more of the Washi Tape was visible.
  • I added a So Saffron Candy Dot from the Subtles Candy Dots packet to the top of the arrow then mounted the “high 5” card onto the front with Dimensionals.
  • I repeated using the Dimensionals to place the card front on the card base so there was a little more raised up on my card.

Retro Fresh Thank You

Retro Thank You

I'm having so much fun with Stampin' Up!'s Circle Mongram Stamps.  Create address labels, a stamp for the back of your handmade cards, personalize gifts and goodies and more!  They're easy to design – I've made and ordered three so far.  This one is for creating thank you cards and stamping on the envelopes as well.

My card started with a fun sketch from one of my team members.  We have a weekly sketch challenge on our Team Facebook page, and this is the one posted for last week:

CASE of the Mondays 5-001

It's the first place I start when designing a card – I've just got to have a good sketch!   See how easy it is to just plug in your images and supplies!

  • This layout drew me to the Retro Fresh This and That Washi Tape.  It almost looks just like it!  That built the basis for my color scheme, but I did decide to soften the look by using Pool Party cardstock and ink.  It matches and is a little softer look.
  • Next element was that I wanted to show off my  new personalized Circle Monogram Stamp.  I've already ordered three different ones – they're really addicting!  And they're so easy to create!  Just enter the item code 132852 in my online store and up pops a screen where you can design what you want in the different locations on the stamp.  Choose to create a personalized stamp for the backs of your cards, an address stamp or whatever you can think of!  I've done a "hand cancel" stamp for my precious hand-stamped cards.  I've also designed one to congratulate my team members for their achievements.
  • Gorgeous Grunge seems to be my "go to" stamp set these days when I need a little something extra on my card.  Here are all the wonderful images you get in this set.

gorgeous grunge

  • Lots of Stampin' Up! circle punches made this card a snap!  My favorite corner rounder of all time is the one built into the Envelope Punch Board – two tools for the price of one!
  • A cute Naturals Button and some Linen Thread complete my quick and easy card.

Retro Sending Good Thoughts

 Monday sketch #3

This year's Occasions Catalog has had so many fun new products!  And true to form, Stampin' Up! has given us terrific coordination in its products!

  • One of the biggest hits has been the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  Make your tag any length you want.  Just cut your cardstock to a smidge less than 2" wide, insert it into the punch tray and punch.
  • Sentiment comes from Perfect Pennants and is the perfect thing to say to someone!  Here I've stamped in Baked Brown Sugar ink on the tag, then stamped again on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Tangerine Tango ink, then adhered it with Dimensionals to highlight the word "good".
  • Our color scheme is set with the Retro Fresh Designer PaperBaked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, So Saffron, Tangerine Tango and Very Vanilla.  I folded down the top 1/2" of the Designer Paper to reveal the other side then tacked it in place using two Candy Dot Brad Bases with So Saffron Candy Dots from the Subtles Dots.
  • The Naturals Chevron Ribbon and Coastal Cabana Stretch Trim look so pretty topping the tag.
  • I used two other punches for this card.  There's a Baked Brown Sugar cardstock Triangle Punch to the left side of the tag, and the Chevron Punch decorates the bottom of the tag with Coastal Cabana cardstock punch-outs.
