Time to Celebrate Hostess Stamp Set

Time to Celebrate

When I saw the new hostess-exclusive stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog for the first time, I squealed with delight over this cute little worm and the sentiment “worm wishes”.  And you’ll love working with this versatile stamp set, too, called Time to Celebrate.  Place an order of at least $150, and you can take host benefits of $25 AND three Sale-A-Bration gifts!  Now’s the time to stock up on all your basics – cardstock, envelopes and adhesives, to name a few – and take advantage of the extra perks.

  • I love using the Stampin’ Up! Decorative Masks.  For THESE CARDS, I used the polka dot mask that comes in the set of two masks called Dots & Stripes Decorative Masks.  (I won’t go into quite as much detail here and you can refer to the instructions for the polka dot mask to help with this card.)  For my card today, I used the stripes, and it couldn’t be easier to be successful with this fun technique.
  • I’ve cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock at 4″ x 5-1/4″ then placed it on a protected surface.  I use a grid mat with a piece of Grid Paper on top.
  • Lay the Decorative Mask over the top of the white cardstock, being careful to keep the stripes straight.
  • I filled a Stampin’ Spritzer with rubbing alcohol and Melon Mambo Ink Refill.  It takes quite a few drops of ink – just add more if your color isn’t as vibrant as you’d like.  Then I lightly misted the paper with the Spritzer.  You don’t want to oversaturate because it will cause puddling.  I did just a tiny bit in the bottom right corner.
  • Mixing the ink with rubbing alcohol rather than water eliminates the water splatter marks on your cardstock and helps the ink dry more quickly.  The rubbing alcohol evaporates, leaving just the ink behind.

  • The Party Pennants Bigz Die and the Big Shot cut out the Basic Black cardstock piece in a snap.  I also used the Big Shot with a Circle Framelit to create the main image.
  • Be sure to stamp your image using Memento Black Ink if you’re using Blendabilities to color your image.
  • I kept the coloring simple – just a touch of Melon Mambo and Wild Wasabi from the Blendabilities markers.  These new alcohol-based markers just glide over the cardstock!  They’re so fun to use.  And you don’t have to have a large area and do a lot of shading with them – they work beautifully as just a solid image.
  • A small piece of Melon Mambo 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon and a Daffodil Delight Candy Dot from the Brights Candy Dots package are all the accents you need for this cute card.

Something to Say and I Like You

Something to Say

I have a quick & Easy card for you today – something you can create in just a few minutes, but I think it packs a punch!  Unfortunately, there are many times these encouraging words could be a comfort to those around you – sympathy, illness, any of life’s challenges.

  • I’ve combined three stamp sets – Something to Say for the beautiful sentiment, I Like You (a hostess-exclusive stamp set) and Party Pennants, a stamp fro the July 2013 Paper Pumpkin kit for the Old Olive background behind the sentiment.
  • I know you’re waiting patiently (or not!) for the release of the Stampin’ Up! Blendabilities Markers!  Let me tell you, they’re worth the wait!  There’s never been an easier way to color in images!  I used Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive, Coastal Cabana and Daffodil Delight to color in my pretty flower image.  I created another card using the same stamp and color scheme HERE.  Word on the street is that they should be available later in June or possibly into July, so sit tight – they’re coming!
