Nature’s Perfection Easter

Easter natures perfection navy

Today I’m showing you a card that mixes up several stamp sets and accessories.  But the real feature here is how to create the rose stenciled background piece!  I just LOVE the Artisan Embellishment Kit found on pg. 27 of the Occasions Catalog!  It’s perfect for the home crafter, with a little bit of this and some of that all in one kit.

  • One of the best parts about this kit is that there are two double-sided Sahara Sand and Whisper White 3″x4″ cards.  you can use them “as is” or you can use them like a stencil.  I combined my Sponge Daubers with this stencil, along with Hello Honey and Old Olive stamp pads, to create the pretty rose background.
  • Another element from the Artisan Embellishment Kit is the Doily.  It’s a bit smaller than the regular package of doilies we carry, and I like having some smaller sizes too.
  • I’m also featuring the newly-added Sale-A-Bration stamp set called Nature’s Perfection which stamped the butterfly and the greenery on the 2-1/2″ Circle.  I stamped the butterfly in Night of Navy ink then colored in with  and Hello Honey and Marine Mist Markers.  And Stampin’ Up! has a coordinating punch called Elegant Butterfly that will line up with this stamp precisely.  Nature’s Perfection is only available as a free gift to you for spending $50 during Sale-A-Bration.  But hurry – there are less than 2 weeks left of this fabulous sale!
  • Happy Easter comes from Indescribable Gift stamp set found in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  I stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed using White Embossing Powder and my Heat Tool.
  • Pearls are a nice accent down the body of the butterfly and a row of them under Happy Easter.

Seasonally Scattered Thanks

Seasonally Scattered Thanks

Seasonally Scattered is a fun stamp set this year that you can use to create thank you cards, Christmas cards and Valentine’s Day cards.  You’ll find it in Stampin’ Up!’s Holiday Catalog on pg. 43.  With just 3 simple stamps, this set is a must have for showcasing techniques and for doing quick & easy cards.

  • I began thinking about this card with Fall colors in mind, but I wanted something a little lighter so that I could emboss over the top of the colors.  I chose the Subtles family colors – Wild Wasabi, Wisteria Wonder, So Saffron and Calypso Coral – with some added Early Espresso.
  • It didn’t photograph all that well, but I used Shimmery White Cardstock as my base to stamp on and literally dragged my stamp pad over the cardstock in an arching motion from left to right.  I started at the bottom with Wild Wasabi and moved up, letting the colors blend and overlap just a bit.  The shimmer from the cardstock shows through the colors and gives a nice added look.
  • Next I stamped “thanks” from Seasonally Scattered using my VersaMark pad, then sprinkled on Early Espresso Embossing Powder and heated it up with my Heat Tool.
  • Accents on the bottom are Venetian Crochet Trim and Calypso Coral Seam Binding Ribbon.  The button is an Early Espresso one from the Neutrals Designer Buttons.  I pulled apart some of the Very Vanilla fibers from the Natural/Old Olive Two-Tone Trim and made an “X” through the center, adhering it to the card with a Glue Dot.

Train Traveler

Traveler train

Here’s another card using the Traveler stamp set from Stampin’ Up!  You may have missed my previous post using Traveler – find it HERE.

I saw a card in the new Stampin’ Up! catalog using only neutrals, and I really liked it.  I’m usually all about color, but I wanted to introduce you to a few new products.

  • The first new product is Typeset Specialty Designer Series Paper.  This ultra lightweight paper has a very vintage feel.  You’ll receive 24 12″x12″ sheets, 4 each of 6 double-sided designs, for just $12.95.
  • The second new product is the Kraft Cardstock.  You might have missed this little gem in the catalog – it’s on pg. 192 and doesn’t look like much, but I guarantee you’re going to love this cardstock – heavier than our regular cardstock with a beautifully natural kraft color.  There are 12 12″x12″ sheets to a package for just $5.95.
  • The third new product is the Zig Zag Embossing Folder.  It feels decidedly masculine on the Kraft Cardstock and I can see it’s going to be a really useful folder to have on hand.
  • I’ve used the Says It All stamp set for the happy birthday greeting stamped in VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Gold Embossing Powder and the Heat Tool.
  • I added a couple of metallic elements – the Gold Metallic Twine, a circle punched from the Gold Foil Paper and the addition of a gold brad from the Antique Brads collection.

So Grateful Birthday

grateful birthday
I had a slew of birthday cards to send this month, so I made a large group of this pretty card featuring So Very Grateful stamp set.  It was super easy putting it together when you have pretty designer paper like Sweet Sorbet Sale-A-Bration paper to use!  Color scheme is all set for you – Basic Black, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Pool Party and Summer Starfruit – yum!

  • So Very Grateful has several coordinating images.  I stamped the tone-on-tone flower image with one stamp then used the larger stamp to create the main image using VersaMark Ink, Black Embossing Powder and heat setting it with my Heat Tool.
  • Watercoloring is a snap with the Aqua Painter and stamp pads.  I love watercoloring inside heat-embossed images.  It's kinda like embroidering or cross-stitching when you add the black around the image and it comes to life!
  • My very favorite corner rounder?  The Envelope Punch Board!
  • The black zig-zag edge is from the Tasteful Trim Bigz Die – I use this all the time!  (If you follow my blog you know what I mean!)
  • "Happy Birthday" is from a hostess-exclusive stamp set called Express Yourself.  And what better month to host a workshop than March – earn $30 more hostess dollars with a workshop over $300!  Or get together a few friends and host your own online workshop to qualify.
  • A Black Candy Dot is my only embellishment so as not to detract from the embossed and watercolored flowers.

Fresh Prints and So Very Grateful

red thank you

The bright, cheery colors of Fresh Prints Designer Paper take center stage in this card, another using So Very Grateful stamp set.  I sure am going to miss this beautiful set when the Occasions Catalog retires June 1st.  I'm having such fun with it – it's so easy to use!

  • I began my main image with Real Red cardstock and heat embossed the flower image using VersaMark Ink and White Embossing Powder.  Next I used my Real Red stamp pad and Aqua Painter to give some depth of color to the center rose.
  • I added Rhinestones to the center flower and also to the bottom corner on top of some Baked Brown Sugar circles made with the Owl Punch.
  • The Coastal Cabana Ruffle Trim is so pretty and easy to work with – it ties a really nice knot.
  • Thank you is stamped with Baked Brown Sugar ink.

I'd love some feedback – do you like the new way I'm giving you the product list so that you have pictures of all of the items used?  Leave me a comment!

Peaceful Petals Thinking of You

embossed petals

This is my favorite card I've made in a long time – do you agree?  I'm loving the color scheme, and it all started because I bought a new bottle of Smoky Slate Embossing Powder that I really wanted to use!

  • The Calypso Coral 2-1/2" Circle is stamped using a VersaMark Stamp Pad and Peaceful Petals stamp and heat embossed using the Smoky Slate Embossing Powder and Heat Tool.
  • After embossing, I used an Aqua Painter and Tangerine Tango Stamp Pad and painted in some of the flower petals.
  • My new favorite corner rounding tool is part of the Envelope Punch Board.  I corner rounded the Coastal Cabana cardstock then stamped tone-on-tone using the leave image from Peaceful Petals.
  • The Arrow Textured Embossing Folder is such a fun addition to our Big Shot tools.  I used it on the Summer Starfruit cardstock.
  • Three Smoky Slate Candy Dots add accents, along with a Very Vintage Designer Button tied up with Calypso Coral Baker's Twine.

Dog Talk!

Dog Talk 2

Who says Christmas designer paper has to be used just for Christmas?  I designed this cute birthday card around the Season of Style Designer Series Paper.  Choose either the Paper Stack – 48 sheets, 24 each of 2 double-sided designs, 4-1/2"x6-1/2" OR the traditional 12"x12" Designer Series Paper, including 12 sheets, 2 each of 6 double-sided designs.

  • I love the Animal Talk stamp set – 4 different images and coordinating sentiments makes this a really versatile set.
  • Was it too much of a stretch?  I used the Crumb Cake and White polka dot paper from the Season of Style pack to replicate the cute little dog – stamped on Crumb Cake cardstock and spots colored in with White Gel Pen.
  • Actually, the main image got a little boost by stamping with VersaMark ink, pouring on some Early Espresso Embossing Powder and heat setting with the Heat Tool.  That made a nice little "home" for the white gel pen to be applied.
  • The lower line of text was simply stamped with Early Espresso Ink.
  • I found the Island Indigo and White plaid paper in the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper pack.  Just right for this card!
  • All that was left was to give this card a little accent with White Baker's Twine.
  • For those of you looking for masculine card ideas, this would be perfect!

New Summer Mini Products

You're going to LOVE the new Summer Mini Catalog products!  As a demonstrator, I'm able to pre-order merchandise from this fantastic publication in order to get ready for my May workshops.  Here's a card I created using many new items.

I began with a base of River Rock card stock!  Yes, I said RIVER ROCK!  With the new color renovation (HERE), we are bringing back this terrific neutral color that was an In Color a couple of years ago.  You'll be able to purchase the card stock, ink, reinker and marker on July 1st.  I stamped the background with Sanded background stamp and Chocolate Chip Classic Ink.  Next came a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock, then Baja Breeze card stock run through the Big Shot using the Stampin' Up Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates.  Yes, BAJA BREEZE is making a comeback as well!  This was such a popular In Color and it's returning on July 1st also!

To add more interest, I used a new product called Smooch Spritz in the color "Log Cabin" to put some shimmer in the background.  It doesn't photograph as shimmer, but this is a pearlized accent spray that will add a dash of color to any project.  They come in a ready-to-use spray applicator and are great for cards, scrapbook pages, chipboard and more.

I'm highlighting a brand new stamp set called Sentimental Journey.  Purchase this great new stamp set in either wood mount or clear mount and stamp for all different occasions — this would be great for masculine cards and wonderful for scrapbooking your favorite trip.  The suitcase was stamped in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink.  I added some Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool.  A Chocolate Chip Jumbo Brad with a So Saffron card stock circle behind ties well with the circles created around the suitcase image.

All Summer Mini Catalog items are available on May 1st, either through contacting me at krisshuels@gmail.com or by direct online ordering at my Online Store at www.stampwithkriss.stampinup.net.  I'll be posting the Summer Mini Catalog in my right-hand side bar on May 1st, so be sure to look through it online.  If you'd like a "hard copy" of the Catalog, please contact me, and I'll see that you get one.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
Item No. 118513 Sentimental Journey wood mount $23.95 OR
Item no. 120075 Sentimental Journey clear mount $17.95

Touch and Feel Birthday Card

My grandson Landon is really in to the touch and feel board books right now.  And that was my inspiration for this fun birthday card!

I combined four of my favorite In Colors to create this card — Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo.  Each layer has something to "touch and feel" — lots of texture!  I ran the Bermuda Bay card stock through the Big Shot using the diamond Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plate.  TIP:  Spritz your card stock with water before using the texturz plates to get a crisper image.  Next came some Textured Crushed Curry card stock then Melon Mambo card stock stamped with Craft Black ink then Black Embossing Powder and heat embossed using the Heat Tool.  (The cat image is done in the same way.)  The main image combines two sets — C is for Cat and Four Square for the "happy birthday" sentiment.  I added some more texture with a crochet flower from Fleurettes II and a Clear Rhinestone Brad.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
Item No. 115764 C is for Cat stamp set $15.95
Item No. 111632 Four Square $14.95
Item No. 114512 Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates $11.95

Item No. 113439 Big Shot Die Cut Machine $99.95
Item No. 109133 Black Stampin' Emboss Powder $4.75
Item No. 100005 Heat Tool $29.95
