Rev Up The Fun Birthday

Harley

Took a break away from most of the Occasions Catalog today to create something from the "old" part of my stampin' shelf!  Rev Up The Fun is certainly one of my favorite masculine stamp sets.  My husband and I own a Harley Road King Classic, and I knew I just had to have this stamp set for his birthday cards!  And of course, I had to keep it in "Harley colors" – Tangerine Tango, Basic Black, Whisper White and Silver.

  • Remember my card yesterday?  I've used the same sketch challenge only turned it on its side!
  • My favorite part of this card is using the Big Shot along with the new Arrows Embossing Folder with the Silver Foil paper.  I thought it looked like tire tracks!  It's really fun to emboss the foil papers – they take such a deeply etched image and look so great!  A 1/2" sliver of the same foil paper acts as "ribbon" through the tag for a more masculine look.  I also dyed White Baker's Twine black by running it through a Basic Black ink pad and made a reinforcement ring around the hole in the tag using Basic Black cardstock and circle punches.

  • There's also heat embossing on my card – the bike is heat embossed using Black Embossing Powder, and the sentiment is done using Silver Embossing Powder.  Don't forget your Embossing Buddy to keep unwanted speckles of powder off your cardstock.
  • I used a touch of Tangerine Tango marker to color in the bike just a bit.

It’s a Joy Ride with Harley!

Joy Ride

My husband and I own a Harley and have spent many wonderful times touring together.  So this stamp set, "Rev Up the Fun!" really called to me!  I know I'll use it for hubby's birthday card this year!  And of course, I had to use the Harley-Davidson color combo – Basic Black and Pumpkin PIe – with some metal and leather thrown in!

  • I achieved the "metal" look using a piece of Brushed Silver cardstock and running it through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
  • It's hard to photograph, but the "leather/suede" look is created by distressing a piece of Basic Black cardstock with a Bone Folder until the cardstock separates.  Then just pull them apart and use the "inside" of the cardstock face up.
  • After stamping the bike image, I used my Paper-Piercing Tool and Stampin' Pierce Mat to attach Silver Mini Brads to the wheels.  I also set a row of 5 Brads down the side of the faux leather cardstock.
