Lighthearted Leaves

so grateful for you

Fall is definitely my favorite time here in New York State.  We’ve had perfect temperatures, sunny skies and no humidity.  And the colors of Fall are my most favorite, too!  Today I’m showing you the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set by Stampin’ Up!, that coordinates with the Leaflets Framelits for the Big Shot.  There’s also a coordinating designer paper called Into the Woods, as well as a new Into the Woods Rich Razzleberry Cotton Ribbon.  Here’s how to make my card:

  • I began with Whisper White Cardstock, folded in half.  The top layer is Soft Suede Cardstock, but before I adhered that down to the card base, I added the Into the Woods Rich Razzleberry Cotton Ribbon and the Gold 1/8″ Ribbon.  AND the Gold Ribbon is on the Weekly Deals list this week so be sure to grab some at a discount.  See the Weekly Deals below.
  • I used a very thin strip of Rich Razzleberry Cardstock and a 3/4″ strip of Into the Woods Designer Paper to highlight the bottom.
  • Both sentiment and leaf are heat embossed using a VersaMark Stamp Pad and Heat Tool.  I find the Embossing Buddy a tremendous help when embossing on darker colored cardstock; it really keeps the Gold Embossing Powder from clinging where you don’t want it.
  • Daffodil Delight, while not really a Fall yellow, helps brighten the otherwise darker colors of the card.  I also used a Daffodil Delight Candy Dot, as well as a couple of Gold Sequins for accents.

Vintage Leaves and Leaflets Framelits

vintage leaves

It’s cooling down here this week in Central New York, and I have one tree in the back yard that’s actually dropping leaves already – a sure sign that Autumn is just around the corner.  I love the Vintage Leaves stamp set by Stampin’ Up! because it reminds me of all the beautiful colors of the autumn leaves in my area.  And this perfect autumn stamp set comes with coordinating Framelits – Leaflets Framelits – so that you can cut out each one of the leaf shapes.  This duo is a must have for the fall, and you’ll save 15% when you bundle them together and purchase both at the same time.

  • My color scheme is Rich Razzleberry, Delightful Dijon, Old Olive and Very Vanilla – such rich, vibrant colors!
  • I kept this card simple so as to show off the leaves and my favorite accessory for the fall – our Burlap Ribbon.
  • Using two Circle Framelits I stacked the smaller one inside the larger one and cut the thin Rich Razzleberry cardstock circle.  And you’re going to fall in love with a brand new product that you can order on September 1st – the Fine-Tip Glue Pen.  This is idea for adhering small embellishments and small paper cutouts to your projects, and it’s designed so that the tip will stay open and flowing freely.  And once the Holiday Catalog goes live, go to www.stampinup.com/holiday-videos to watch a short video on how to use this wonderful addition to the Stampin’ Up! adhesives.
  • The beautiful sentiment on my card is another sneak peek product from the Holiday Catalog – the Lighthearted Leaves stamp set.  This too coordinates with the Leaflets Framelits, but the leaves are more . . . well . . . “lighthearted”!  I think combining all three products will give you lots of options.

  • A Linen Thread double bow held in place with a Glue Dot gives the illusion of tying the leaves together at the stems without all the work.

Lots of Card Samples!

At our weekend retreat, there were lots of sample boards from team members showing off their creativity with Stampin’ Up! products.  Many were great Christmas card ideas, and it’s certainly time to be thinking about them.  I’ll share several with you today and more later on!  Unfortunately, I didn’t write down who created what so I’m not able to give credit to our talented artists.

I was really drawn to the watercolor effect background for this card using For All Things stamp set.  And the Autumn Wooden Element is a great touch.

Team display card 3A

The quilter in me just adored this beautiful card.  And it’s a great way to use up your designer paper scraps!  Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack is the focal point here, with the sentiment coming from Festival of Trees stamp set.

Team display card 5A

I loved the homespun take on the Bright & Beautiful stamp set.  The addition of the Star Embossing Folder, Doily and Burlap Trim are nice accents.

Here in New York, we can only dream of flowers and sunshine right now, but I love this sample using Kinda Eclectic paired with Petite Petals stamp sets.

And here’s another beautiful sample of Kinda Eclectic stamp set – this set has got to be one of the most versatile we’ve had in a while!  Love all you can do with the various collage images.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a bit of the creative powers of my team members.

Bundle and Save 15% on Fun Fall and Fall Fest

Fall Fest and For All Things

Fall Fest stamp set and coordinating Fun Fall Framelits have been my favorite new Stampin’ Up! products this Fall!  I love all of the interchangeable components in the stamp set, making it great for Halloween and Fall all in one set.  And when you purchase both at the same time, you’ll save 15% on the set!

Remember when we were “all over” the new In Colors when they were introduced in June?  And then I sort of forgot about them for a bit.  Well, now is the time to pull them out and use them like crazy!  Look at this beautiful Fall pallette – Blackberry Bliss, Tangelo Twist, Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey.

2014-16 In Color Stamp Pads

  • I really wanted to highlight these beautiful colors that look so great together, so I used some color blocking as my backdrop.
  • A Whisper White Cardstock oval was cut using the Oval Framelits and Big Shot.  All of the images were stamped on Whisper White Cardstock then cut out using the Fun Fall Framelits.
  • I tied a piece of Linen Thread around the larger pumpkin and slipped on an Autumn Wooden Element.  You’ll find these sweet little accents being used over and over again on your Fall projects.
  • Dimensionals are important with any card, but this one in particular to achieve the realistic overlay of the various pieces.  The smaller pumpkin and leaf are brought to the foreground to give the scene some nice depth.
  • “Grateful for You” is stamped in Mossy Meadow Ink on the Hello Honey Cardstock.  You’ll find this sentiment in another terrific Stampin’ Up! Fall stamp set called For All ThingsAnd you’ll find another card using different elements of the For All Things stamp set HERE.

NEW Thinlits Card Dies

Leaf PopUp

I had a few minutes today to play with the new Thinlits Card Dies – wow, they are so much fun and so addicting!  I know you'll be seeing lots of these cards in the future!  And you can't believe how easy this card was to make with the help of the Thinlits!  You can left click on any of the photos for a better look.

  • My card starts out with a Sahara Sand cardstock base.  Just use the Thinlits Card Die with the Big Shot, and the base is cut out and scored for you in one step.
  • The Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper was easy to cut exactly to the front left of the card – I just used the Thinlits Card Die again with the edge of the designer paper at the fold of the card.
  • The Chocolate Chip cardstock circles are cut with the Circles Collection Framelits, and the Whisper White cardstock scallop circle was cut with a piece from the Thinlits Card Dies – you get 9 additional dies (ten in all) included in the die collection.
  • The Magnificent Maple single stamp is one of my favorites from the Holiday Catalog.  Here I've inked up the stamp in Crushed Curry ink, then used a Sponge Dauber and Pumpkin Pie ink to dab the edges of the rubber stamp before stamping on the paper.

Here is the card opened up:

Leaf PopUp open

  • Both sentiments come from Lots of Thanks stamp set – a must have!  Speckles on the inner circle are created with the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set – another must have!  Both of these sets will serve your cardmaking well for a very long time.
  • Did you notice I was able to emboss the upper right side of the card base?  I just slid in my Stylish Stripes Embossing Folder sideways and under the cut portion of the inside circle.  Worked just fine!
  • The only little accessory needed is a Chocolate Chip Candy Dot set in a Candy Dot Base.  There's already plenty going on!

Another Note Card Idea for Fall

Fall Leaves

The days are already getting cooler here in Central New York, and the Halloween candy is appearing on the grocery shelves!  I'm starting to feel in the mood for creating for a different season and using all of my new products from the Holiday Catalog.  Here's a quick and easy note card that features two new stamp sets – Magnificent Maple single stamp and Lots of Thanks.  I've used Raspberry Ripple, Old Olive, Crushed Curry and Baked Brown Sugar stamp pads, but really, any fall colors would be beautiful.  I stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock, then used Dimensionals to raise it up before adhering to the Note Card.  I think this added step makes a simple card look much more elegant.  Make up a quick little pile of them to say thank you to those special people in your life!
