Wild About Flowers

Wild About Flowers

I love flowers – any kind of flowers, but most of all wildflowers.  And Wild About Flowers is a favorite two-step stamp set this year from the Stampin’ Up! 2015-16 Annual Catalog.  So often we immediately go to pinks and blues for flowers, but I wanted to show you a bit different color scheme for this set.  I’ve used Soft Suede, Mossy Meadow and Hello Honey with a touch of Gold for a more Fall-like feel.  Don’t get me wrong – I’m not rushing the end of the summer!  We still have weeks left of gorgeous weather.  But this color combo is a bit more subtle, maybe for a bit more somber occasion.

  • I was trying my hand at a different sized card when I began this project.  My card ended up being 3-1/2″ x 5-1/2″, just a little bit taller than the Stampin’ Up! Notecards (which are 3-1/2″ x 5″).  To make this size card, you’ll want to cut your base cardstock (in this case Whisper White) at either 5-1/2″ x 7″ for a side opening or at 3-1/2″ x 11″ for a top opening.

Wild About Flowers 2

  • The pretty Mossy Meadow designer paper is from the English Garden Designer Series Paper pack.  I love that there are “quieter” prints on one side and “busier” prints on the reverse side, giving you lots of choices.
  • The main image Whisper White Cardstock piece measures 2-1/2″ x 3″ and is stamped first in Mossy Meadow Ink to create the stems then in Hello Honey Ink to add on the flowers.  Don’t forget the Dimensionals to raise up that main image!
  • A very thin piece of Hello Honey Cardstock measuring 1/4″ x 3-1/4″ finishes off the bottom of the main image nicely.
  • “You’ll be missed” is just one of the many very usable sentiments in this set.  I’ve stamped it tone-on-tone with Soft Suede then punched it out with the 1-3/8″ Circle Punch.  The smallest of the Gold Metallic Foil Doilies is just the right size to back the sentiment.

Wild About Flowers closeup

  • Before adding on the sentiment circle, I used some Gold Metallic Thread behind it to soften the look of the card.
  • And of course, with the Envelope Punch Board, it’s a snap to create not only a coordinating envelope using Hello Honey Cardstock, but it’s just the right size, too.

Buttercup Geometrical

buttercup final 3

Do you remember when Stampin' Up! carried 3"x6" envelopes?  I really loved that size of card for so many layouts.  Now that we have the Envelope Punch Board, we can have any size envelope we want!  So I'm back to designing a 3"x6" card and lovin' every minute of it!

  • Color scheme is Elegant Eggplant, Rich Razzleberry, Wisteria Wonder and Pistachio Pudding.
  • You're going to love using the Geometrical stamp set with coordinating Triangle Punch!  Bundle and save 15%!
  • I've stamped the various triangle images in the Geometrical stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock for the background strip, then stamped a few on a scrap piece and punched them out with the new Triangle Punch Dimensionals raise up 3 of the triangles.  This was my final touch to the card, and it really made a huge difference!
  • I arranged the three Candy Dots in the bottom corner iin the shape of a triangle in keeping with the theme.

Stamping on the envelope ties in nicely with the card!

When you make your 3"x6" envelope, you'll have a large flap at the back.  Simply cut it off so it doesn't hang below the bottom of the envelope when sealed.  I like using Multipurpose Liquid Glue to assemble the envelope.

Tri-Flower Thank You

3 flowers

Here's a pretty card that gets its wow from the designer paper and coordinating envelope.  One of my team members designed this for our team get together.  I'm tellin' ya, you've just gotta own one of the Designer Series Paper Stacks!  Choose any of our 4 main color collections or our 2 In Color collections.  Price is just $21.95 for 40 sheets of 12"x12" paper, and you'll receive every color in the collection in two prints.  That's 4 different print choices with front and back.  I'm using the Brights Designer Paper for this card in Bermuda Bay – my absolute favorite color right now.

Flowers are from Embellished Events, and I've used markers in Bermuda Bay, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive to color direct to the rubber.  Be sure to join my Many Marvelous Marker Club to get all of your very own markers in every color – use this link to find out the details.
I simply cut out the image using the Label Collection Framelits and my Big Shot.
Add a sentiment and some rhinestones, pop up the image on Dimensionals and you're all done with the card.
Don't forget to make a coordinating envelope with our very easy-to-use Envelope Punch Board.

Sweet Friend

Here's an interesting color scheme for you – I used Summer Starfruit, Early Espresso and Coastal Cabana.  I'm also having lots of fun creating "odd-sized" cards since I can create a coordinating envelope with my new Envelope Punch Board and 2012-14 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack.

  • This card measures 4" x 4" and is perfect to highlight the hexagon shapes in the Six-Sided Sampler stamp set.  You'll have lots of fun using all of the different images that come in this set, along with the coordinating punch.  In fact, buy both at the same time in a bundle and save 15%!
  • A Coastal Cabana circle backs the Naturals Designer Button and Whisper White Baker's Twine for a bit more color pop.

Beautiful Baroque

Thought I'd try out a little bit different layout with this card using the Beautifully Baroque single stamp and coordinating Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper.  It's different for me because I don't often think in triangles for my cards.  I simply cut a rectangular piece of paper then cut it in half from corner to corner.  Be careful when doing this because I found that you might not get the side of the paper you wanted – you have to think ahead before you cut as to which way you cut the triangles out.

Sometimes a design really needs a square card format.  And now with the new Envelope Punch Board, you can make any size envelope to coordinate with your "odd-sized" card.  No longer do you have to worry about how you're going to send your square card – you can create a coordinating envelope that's just the right size!  In this case, my card measures 5"x5", so I just looked at the sizing on the board for how to cut and score my cardstock for the envelope size required.  Here's a photo of how easy it is to create the perfect sized envelope:
Envelope Punch Board

  • Color scheme is taken loosely from the beautiful Eastern Elegance designer paper; I changed it just a touch – Crushed Curry, Bermuda Bay, Smoky Slate and Whisper White.  The paper has Coastal Cabana instead of Bermuda Bay, but I wanted my card to be a little brighter.
  • I borrowed the sentiment from Blooming with Kindness stamp set.  This is a great one to fit into a circular area.
  • I added a flower punched from Boho Blossoms Punch and a Large Rhinestone for some bling.
  • Pretty simple, but I think it still works as an interesting card.  It would be pretty in lots of different color schemes.  Try the layout and let me know what you think by posting a comment!

Faux Bleaching technique

Dare to Dream

I had lots of fun playing with some new supplies and a new technique creating this card to congratulate my team members on a great month of sales and recruiting.  There are three or four things I want to point out about this card:

  • I began this card wanting to show you an idea for the terrific Butterfly Bundle sale going on through the end of September.  This great sale combines the Bitty Butterfly Punch and the coordinating stamp set Papillion Potpourri for a 15% off savings.  For details on these two great products, click HERE.  I used the Bitty Butterfly Punch to punch out lots of butterflies out of scrap paper, then arranged them on my Soft Sky cardstock.  I used a Spritzer filled with rubbing alcohol and Marina Mist reinker and spritzed over the butterflies.  When I removed the masks, it looks like the bleaching technique but much easier!
  • I also used the Papillion Potpourri stamp set to stamp the Crisp Cantaloupe butterfly twice – once directly on the Whisper White cardstock, the other on a scrap piece and punched it out with the same Bitty Butterfly Punch.  I added a bit of glitter and popped it up with a Dimensional.
  • And of course, I just had to make a custome envelope for my card using the brand new Envelope Punch Board.  You won't believe how simple it is to use this innovative new tool!  And I just love the coordination factor!

Here's a larger picture of the full card:

Dare to Dream 2

Color scheme is Soft Sky, Midnight Muse and Crisp Cantalopue.  Notice the Midnight Muse border around the spritzed butterflies?  I've used my new Rotary Trimmer Additions to create the pretty scallops – more details on this great new tool HERE.
