Congratulations to my Team Members – May 2011

A sincere "From the Heart Stampers" congratulations goes out the top three sales people on my team for the month of May!  They are:

Pam Kane
Sheila Edwards

and
Debbie Sowards

You ladies rock!  And here's the special card I made them.  I couldn't make up my mind on which color I liked best, so I made both.

The first card uses Cherry Cobbler and Old Olive; the second is Rich Razzleberry and Old Olive.  Both colors work well with the rose image.  I began by using the Big Shot and Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I cut the Whisper White card stock oval with the Ovals Originals Die.  The floral stamp set is Flower Fest, a terrific new set from the Summer Mini Catalog.  Most of the stamps included in the set line have coordinating punches.  Because this stamp set stamps just the outline of the flower and leaf, and because Stampin' Up! Classic Ink is water-based, I was able to stamp in the colored stamp pad, then use my Aqua Painter to spread the ink and create a lighter tone of the same color.  The "congratulations" sentiment is a new Hostess Level 1 stamp set Swirls & Curls Verses.  It didn't photograph well, but a final touch is adding some Dazzling Diamonds Glitter with the 2-Way Glue Pen to the center of the flowers.  Don't forget a little envelope art!

A Cardinal Christmas Revisited

A Cardinal Christmas isn't a new stamp set this year, but I love it just the same.  You can either take the time to watercolor the beautiful cardinal image or simply stamp it and go — and it looks terrific either way!  I've used Bravo Burgundy and Old Olive here for a little different slant on the traditional red and green at Christmas.  The background is quick as can be with the Big Shot and Elegant Lines Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The Big Shot also cuts out the oval in Very Vanilla card stock using the Ovals Originals Die.  I used a little Chocolate Chip classic ink and a Stamping Sponge to distress the edges of oval.   I used a piece of 1-1/4" Old Olive Striped Grosgrain Ribbon to back the cardinal image.  "Merry Christmas" is stamped on Old Olive card stock then punched out with a Modern Label Punch then adhered on a Very Vanilla card stock oval created with the medium-sized Oval Punch.  Two Gold Brads are added as accents to the tag using the Mat Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool.
