Three for One Today – Happy Birthday, Congrats and Welcome

We’re now into Spring, but not so in Central New York! It’s gloomy and 32 degrees out while I type this post. But no matter what’s going on outside, I can find my “happy place” amidst Stampin’ Up!’s bright, fun colors. And the beautiful It’s My Part Designer Series Paper has the perfect color scheme to brighten anyone’s day – Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Mint Macaron and Basic Black.
And I’m trying to use our beautiful Sale-A-Bration products every day, since there are only a few days left of the best Stampin’ Up! sale of the year! My sentiment comes from Perfect Pairings, a wonderful sentiment stamp set that you’ll be able to use time and time again. Here’s another card I made using this great stamp set – click HERE.
My Stampin’ Up! team, the From the Heart Stampers, does a sketch challenge twice a month. It’s a really fun way to see what everyone’s working on and to get some inspiration for a new design. I always start my card designs with a sketch layout, so this is especially fun for me. This is just one of the many perks for being a part of my team. Here’s the sketch I was working from for my card design:
See how easy it is to create a fabulous card with a great sketch and some beautiful Stampin’ Up! supplies!
- I cut the It’s My Party designer paper into different widths from 1/4″ to 3/4″. It killed me to not keep them straight – I’m such a perfectionist – but I thought it actually looked better to be a little “off”.
- The large flower is created using the Floral Frames Framelits with the Big Shot. Circles are cut using the Circle Framelits. Leaves and tiny Crushed Curry flower are cut using Flower Fair Framelits. Yes, I do use my Framelits a lot!
- There’s a little nest of Silver Thread between the flower and the Crushed Curry circle. Just add some SNAIL Adhesive to the center of the flower, wad up a nice long piece of thread and stick it down into the adhesive. Use Dimensionals to hold the circles on top. Yes, this thread looks better “messy” too! At first I wound it around my hand making it into nice, even loops, but it looked too forced.
And why stop there with this great layout! I went on to create some congratulations and welcome cards for my team members. First up is a fabulous “way to go” card, complete with stars and glimmer paper.

- The big star is cut with – you guessed it – the Stars Framelits.
- The tiny silver star is a handheld punch in the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and Silver Glimmer Paper.
- “Way to Go” is one of the many celebratory stamps in the Bravo stamp set, found in the main Annual Catalog. I stamped it once in Black Memento Ink then again on scrap paper in Melon Mambo ink and cut out the “to” banner, adhering it over the black stamping with Dimensionals.
- Check out the sweet little Melon Mambo enamel dot from the It’s My Party collection! Love that they have a self-adhesive backing.
And my last version of this card went out to brand new team members who have joined my team this month. In all, we’ve added quite a number of demonstrators, both hobbyists and business-builders, during Sale-A-Bration! There are a few days left – won’t you consider joining our team? All that glitters IS gold
I just love all of the gold that Stampin’ Up! has added over this past year! And like all Stampin’ Up! products, there’s also the beautiful coordination factor that’s a big wow! I also created another card using our gold products – you can find it here.
I began this card with the idea of using Watercolor Wonder Washi Tape and the Stars Framelits and Big Shot to create a focal point image. I used one of the Stars Framelits and traced around it on Very Vanilla Cardstock. Then I filled in the space with the Washi Tape, set the Star Framelit back over the pen lines and ran it through the Big Shot to cut it out. Here’s a look at what I’m describing:
Next I wanted to create a frame around the star using the Gold Foil Sheets. I used two of the Stars Framelits – the same one with which I cut out the Washi Tape star and also the size below it. I placed the smaller one inside the larger one, laid them on the Gold Foil Sheet and ran it through the Big Shot. Here’s a photo of the set up:
And here’s the card closeup:
I added Gold Baker’s Twine and one of the sentiment from Fabulous Four stamp set stamped with an Encore Gold stamp pad. I really wanted the star to stick out off of the card, but that posed a problem for putting it in an envelope. But no fear – with the Envelope Punch Board, you’re able to create any size envelope you choose! So I made my envelope 6″ x 4-3/4″ and it slipped right in.
But why stop there? If I’m creating a custom envelope, I might as well dress it up a bit, right? So I made an additional envelope base then cut across the bottom and sides to create a liner.
Then I placed my rows of Washi Tape all along the part of the envelope that would fit down inside the outer envelope. Once on, I trimmed down the Washi Tape and also trimmed the liner so it would slide down inside the envelope base.
I think this special card will be for my husband’s uncle who is turning 80 next weekend. He and his wife are also celebrating 60 years of marriage! Gold will be perfect!

Congrats to Ruth!
Ruth joined my From The Heart Stampers team just a couple of months ago and already has her first recruit! I made her a special card for this very special accomplishment.
I started with a base of Night of Navy card stock, then layered it with Bashful Blue card stock run through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I added squares of Regal Rose and Rose Red card stocks at each corner. My main image is backed with Garden Green, and I've used all the colors to stamp the word "congrats" from the Jumble Alphabet stamp set. A letter set is such a practical stamping tool to have on hand! I realized I didn't have any congrats stamp that was current. And for a scrapbooker, this letter stamp is a must! This fun set contains both upper- and lower-case letters. You can spell out anything you'd like in any color. I also added a little more pop with my Color Spritzer Tool and Night of Navy, Rose Red and Garden Green Stampin' Write Markers and adhered that main image with Dimensionals.. I used the Large Star and Star Punches to create the accent pieces and added a Rhinestone Brad to the center. Note that the Star Punch is retiring at the end of June, so you'll want to purchase yours now while you still can!
