A Fresh, Fun Look

I've been congratulating Ruth Petrovich a lot lately, and rightly so!  Ruth joined my Stampin' Up! team of demonstrators, the From the Heart Stampers, at the end of February and is going strong!  Ruth just recruited her second person, and I made this card for her.  It's fun, summery look with Daffodil Delight (new Brights Core Color), Pumpkin Pie and Pear Pizzazz (new In Color) and some designer paper from Greenhouse Gala Designer Series Paper.  I used the Eyelet Border Punch to create the sweet white edging and some Daffodil Delight 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon for a little accent.  The main image is from Charming stamp set stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink with pieces cut from the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine using Little Leaves Sizzlits Die and Birds &  Blooms Sizzlits 4-Pack Dies for the flower.  A small Clear Rhinestone Brad decorates the center.  Once completed, this card needed a little something in the bottom right corner.   I had planned to stamp a "congrats" greeting but it just didn't fit.  So I accordion folded the corner and added a piece of Whisper White card stock to the back to peek through.  Love this touch!

Presto Patterns and some New Colors!

Ruth Petrovich joined my team of Stampin' Up! demonstrators in February and has already earned the Supervisor title!  She's a wonderful, caring woman and I truly believe that her success comes from her love of Stampin' Up! products as well as her love for her customers.  I made this card especially for her.

I'm afraid I'm going to have to eat my words!  When I was first introduced to the brand new In Colors for 2010-12, I took one look at Concord Grape and said, "Well, I'll NEVER use that color!"  Here I am – designing one of my first cards with the new colors and look what I chose!  It just works so well with all the other colors in the new palette!  The other colors are also brand new – Pear Pizzazz is another new In Color and Daffodil Delight, a new Core Color in the Bolds Collection.  So you may have caught that the In Colors are now going to be with us for two years instead of one!  Such a great change!  Let's take a look at how I made this card.  The card base measures 5-1/4"x5-1/4".  I used a piece of Presto Patterns Specialty Designer Series Paper and dyed it with a Daffodil Delight Classic Stamp Pad.  Next I inked up this pretty little flower stamp from Charming stamp set with my Stampin' Write Markers (there are markers in the new In Colors!) and stamped three times on Whisper White card stock cut to 1-1/4" squares quickly and efficiently with my 1-1/4" Square Punch then backed them with Pear Pizzazz card stock cut just a smidge bigger.  "From the Heart" is a stamp from Watercolor Trio and I'm especially fond of it because my team is called From the Heart Stampers!  It's so easy to punch out with the Designer Label Punch and slip it into a frame from the Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware using a Two-Way Glue Pen.  I added some Whisper White Organza Ribbon and a punched border using Pear Pizzazz card stock with the Border Scallop Trim Punch.  Don't forget to add a little envelope art!

Add a white liner to the inside of dark card stock and while you're at it, decorate the inside just a bit, too.

Simply Adorned Jewelry

My sister’s birthday is just around the corner, and I knew exactly what to get her this year!  Last time I got her wholesale fashion cocktail rings so this time it was bound to be the Stampin’ Up!’s jewelry line, Simply Adorned, combines creativity with fashion, and that’s what my sister is all about!

This is the Simply Adorned 1″ x 1-1/4″ Rectangle Charm.  They are such a tiny canvas, but they’re so much fun to make and very addicting!  I made my sister four inserts, and I’m sure she’ll be making more on her own!  I’ll describe how I made each one for you:

Blue insert in necklace:  I started out using a piece of the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper.  There are lots of small prints in this pack, so it’s perfect for the small piece I needed.  I stamped the flower from Charming stamp set in Not Quite Navy, then added a bit of a rub-on and a tiny self-adhesive rhinestone from the Eggcellent Eggs Kit.

Pink and purple insert:  This paper also came from the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper.  I stamped the geometric image in Elegant Eggplant and the butterfly in Basic Gray Classic inks.  They are both from the stamp set Charming, which is designed specifically to work great with our jewelry line also we work with a special chunky silver bangles designers we have a unique range of high quality solid silver bangles, tested and hallmarked by the London Assay Office to guarantee the sterling quality and other great designs from Jacob Mercari jewelry online.  A rhinestone brad from the Eggcellent Eggs Kit completes the image.  I sprayed the whole insert with Champagne Mist Shimmer Paint (a few drops in a spray bottle with rubbing alcohol).

Gray, Red and White insert:  I used a portion of a sentiment from the Kind & Caring Thoughts Level 3 Hostess stamp set and a Ruby Red Stampin’ Write Marker to stamp “it’s all good” at the bottom.  The flourish is from a brand new stamp set not yet released called Elements of Style and is stamped in Basic Gray.  The heart is the smallest one from the Heart to Heart Punch and is on a Dimensional.  I used the Color Spritzer Tool with a Ruby Red Stampin’ Write Marker to add a spattering of color.

Yellow butterfly insert:  This insert begins with another piece of designer paper from the Sweet Pea collection. I stamped on top of it with Very Vanilla Craft Ink and a stamp from the Charming stamp set.  The word “create” is also from the same set and is stamped in Old Olive on Very Vanilla card stock.  The butterfly comes from Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die for the Big Shot.  I tied around a piece of gold cord and adhered it to the insert in just the center.  There’s a bit of room in the charm for dimension to stand out.

Great news!  The Charming stamp set was in the Holiday Mini Catalog which has retired, but Charming is still available and will be included in the new Idea Book & Catalog in July.

Another terrific stamp set for the Simply Adorned line is Tiny Tags, which is in the current Occasions Mini Catalog.  Here’s what it looks like:

Here’s how I wrapped the boxes:

The Charm and the Chain come in nice Chocolate Chip colored boxes.  I stacked the two boxed together and wrapped it with Sahara Sand card stock that I punched on the sides with the Scallop Trim Border Punch, free with a purchase of $50 during Sale-A-Bration.  Next came a leftover piece of Sweet Pea designer paper (remember THIS CARD?) and some Pretty in Pink Taffeta Ribbon.  I cut the  tag out with the Matchbox Die and the Big Shot, then stamped it using the coordinating stamp set Great Friend and added another butterfly from the Beautiful Wings Embosslits Die with a rhinestone from the Eggcellent Eggs Kit.

I’ll make her a special birthday card, but that’s for another day!
