Watercolor Wings and Cottage Garden sentiments

WatercolorWings

I love this simple layout.  You could use it with just about any stamp set, but with the Watercolor Wings butterfly by Stampin’ Up!, the Daffodil Delight scalloped circle looks a bit like the sun.  Here are some details on my easy birthday card.

  • Colors are Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Sweet Sugarplum – so fun and cheery!
  • The butterfly is first offstamped in Sweet Sugarplum Ink, meaning that I inked up that bold background image, then stamped onto a scrap piece of paper, then onto my cardstock.  The overlay is full-strength Sweet Sugarplum Ink.  I added the butterfly body with Black Memento Ink.  While we do carry a framelit to cut out the butterfly, I chose to paper snip around the image so that I could include the body.
  • A good investment for your crafting supplies is the new Stampin’ Up! Layering Circles Framelits.  Not only can you create regular circles, but you can also create scallops – and both come in 8 different sizes, for a total of 16 dies!
  • Another great investment is the In Color Designer Series Paper Stack.  With 40 sheets, 4 of each of 2 double-sided designs in all of the new In Colors, you’ll be able to create lots and lots of cards and scrapbook pages with all of the colors on hand.
  • I love the little accents in the top right corner – they’re the White Perfect Accents, Sweet Sugarplum Enamel Circle and a small Rhinestone Jewel.
  • My sentiment again is from Cottage Greetings (I use this one all the time!).  If you don’t have this stamp set yet, please pick it up.   You won’t be sorry!  Lots of fun greetings for all of the occasions you love best.  In fact, here’s the same card using the “congrats” stamp.

WatercolorWings2

  • When adhering the butterfly, I used a strip of Dimensionals down the center so the wings were loose and look like they’re fluttering.

Affectionately Yours and Cottage Greetings

AffectionatelyYoursCottageGreetingsCongrats

  • I’m getting the hang of this Washi Tape thing!  I’m starting to realize how handy, quick and easy it is – think little strips of DSP with adhesive already applied.  And with the Affectionately Yours Designer Paper and coordinating Washi Tape, you can use both together.  I love Stampin’ Up!’s coordination of products!
  • My tag measures 1-1/2″ x 3″ and I’ve dovetailed the end using my Stampin’ Up! Triple Banner Punch.  It’s such a time-saving tool to have at your disposal!
  • To create the circle part at the top, I punched out a 1/2″ Night of Navy Cardstock Circle with my circle punch, adhered it to the tag with SNAIL Adhesive and then punched the center with the 1/8″ Handheld Circle Punch.
  • The new Thick Baker’s Twine, now in 6 different colors, ties so nicely and gives your bow a little more substance.
  • You’re going to love the new 5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon which comes in all of the five 2015-17 In Colors – so much so that you’ll want them all!  This one’s Cucumber Crush.
  • My layered butterflies are such a fun addition – to any card, really.  Just use the Elegant Butterfly Punch on a piece of Vellum Cardstock and the Bitty Butterfly Punch on Daffodil Delight Cardstock.  Fold their wings inward then adhere together with a Glue Dot.  A new Metallic Enamel Shape in Gold accents the center.

  • I’ve used Cottage Greetings stamp set because the font coordinates so nicely with the feel of the prints.  Feel free, of course, to use any sentiment.  I know my customers love creating birthday cards, so here is the same card for a birthday.

AffectionatelyYours

My Congrats cards go out each month to the five top salespeople on my From the Hearts Stampers team members.  It recognizes their accomplishments and gives them an idea for one of their own workshops or classes.

Best Birds and Birds & Blooms Thinlits Dies

BestBirds

What a fabulous bundle from the new Stampin’ Up! 2016 Annual Catalog!  Best Birds stamp set is combined with Birds & Blooms Thinlits Dies to create a pair that you’ll just have to own!  There are so many ideas floating around in my head for this great bundle – I’m sure I’ll have more samples for you in the future.

  • I started out with a Sahara Sand Cardstock background and used several different colors and textures for the pop behind the image – Cucumber crush 5/8″ Mini Striped Ribbon, 5/8″ Burlap Ribbon and a sliver of Watermelon Wonder Cardstock.
  • The sentiment and small flower are stamped in Tip Top Taupe ink and the little flower is watercolored with an Aqua Painter and Watermelon Wonder stamp pad.  Three tiny Pearls set off the center.
  • One of the hot new accessories in this catalog are the 2015-17 In Color Doilies.  Here I’ve used Delightful Dijon to set off the bird which is stamped in Tip Top Taupe on Whisper White Cardstock and watercolored with Delightful Dijon, Watermelon Wonder and Tip Top Taupe stamp pads and an Aqua Painter.

BestBirdsCloseup

I can see so many possibilities in coloring in these darling birds, but right now I’m obsessed with the beautiful music that a robin family is making in my back yard.  Nature is at its peak here in New York State, and I’m feeling the love for this bundle!

Number of Years

Number of Years Birthday1

One of the best parts of making your own cards is personalizing them.  And what better way to personalize than using numbers!  The coordination of Number of Years stamp set and Large Numbers Framelits by Stampin’ Up! are perfect to fit all your needs.  Create birthday, anniversary or even graduation cards with this great combination!

  • Buying a Designer Series Paper Stack in your favorite color collection is a terrific way to always have pretty paper on hand in the color you need.  Here I’ve used the Night of Navy stripe found in the Regals Paper Stack.
  • I’ve also punched three balloons with the Balloon Bouquet Punch using Real Red, Crushed Curry and Night of Navy polka dot papers found in the Paper Stacks.  The Real Red comes from the Brights Collection; the other two are also pare of the Regals Collection.  I love that you can choose from two different sized balloons in one punch!
  • I’ve hand drawn the balloon strings with a Night of Navy Stampin’ Write Marker.
  • In order to get the curve just right on the sentiment, I stamped it on Whisper White Cardstock using Night of Navy Ink, then used two Oval Framelits to create the curve.  Just look at how easy it is!  Then just snip the ends into a banner.

Change up the colors, change the number and you have a perfectly customized card for that special person in your life!

Birthday Fiesta with Circles

BirthdayFiestaCircles

I’m sure you’ll see much, much more of the Birthday Fiesta stamp set and coordinating Fiesta Time Framelits, but for now, I’m just going to introduce you to one of the sentiments in this fun birthday set.  There are so many possibilities, but for today, I had the idea to create a very festive birthday card using the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder and covering up each of the indented circles with colored cardstock.

  • First I ran the Whisper White Cardstock through the Big Shot using the Large Polka Dot Folder.  The folder will give you a “map” so you know where to adhere your circles.
  • Then I punched out 5 each of 5 different colors using the 3/4″ Circle Punch.  Those colors are Tangerine Tango, Melon Mambo, Emerald Envy, Daffodil Delight and Tip Top Taupe.  And it’s a great way to use up your scraps!
  • Use a bit of SNAIL Adhesive and adhere the colored circles over each polka dot.
  • The new Melon Mambo 1/8″ Stitched Ribbon is wrapped around the card twice and adhered in the back.
  • I cut a super thin border of Basic Black Cardstock so that it would stand out more.  The card base is Emerald Envy.
  • I randomly stuck several Medium Rhinestones on various circles to give it some added interest.
  • The sentiment was stamped twice – once in Tangerine Tango and once in Emerald Envy.  I snipped the center from the Emerald Envy piece and added it over the top of the Tangerine Tango piece using Dimensionals.
  • The Lots of Labels Framelits are a great investment.  You’ll use them time and time again!
  • I’ve paper pierced around the edges of the label so it would stand out a bit more from the background.

BirthdayFiestaCircles2

Quick and easy with lots of color and vitality!  Think about making one in a different color scheme.  I’m thinking blues and purples!

Swirly Bird and new In Color products

SwirlyBirdCottageGreetings2

Time for a bit of new product from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! 2016-17 Annual Catalog!  Front and center on my card today are several of the new In Colors for 2016-18 – Emerald Envy, Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum.  I also have a peek at a brand new stamp set called Swirly Bird – you’re gonna love this quirky stamp’s versatility!

  • Highlighting 4 of the 5 new In Colors is the new Playful Palette Designer Series Paper Stack.  I just love the richness of these colors when paired with Basic Black and Very Vanilla!  I’ve cut my DSP 4″ x 2-5/8″ then using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool, I’ve scored at 5/8″ the long way then folded the paper back on itself.  The black and vanilla polka dots are the reverse side of the striped print.
  • You’ll also see our new 3/8″ Ruched Ribbon – on this card in Sweet Sugarplum – and available in all 5 of the new In Colors.
  • There’s also Playful Palette Designer Washi Tape.  I’ve used one of the designs at the top of my card.
  • Cottage Greeting stamp set is carrying over and will be in our new catalog.  This pretty font goes so nicely with the feel of the paper and stamps.  Rather than dovetailing the end of the cardstock the “usual” way, I opted for the “pointy” way to change it up a bit.
  • Three small Rhinestones in the flower centers give a little extra pizzazz.

SwirlyBirdCottageGreetings

Here are the measurements so that you can create this same card – either using the same products or choose something different!

Very Vanilla card base: 5-1/2″ x8-1/2″

Very Vanilla top layer:  5-1/4″ x 4″

DSP:  2-5/8″ x 4″, scored at 5/8″

Peekaboo Peach cardstock:  1″ x 3″

Birthday Blooms Happiest of Birthdays

BirthdayBloomsTangerineTango

I’ve worked with the Stampin’ Up! Birthday Blooms stamp set before with my card I posted HERE using the very lovely color scheme that’s found in the Birthday Bouquet Suite.  It’s so soft and pretty!  But now it’s time to brighten it up by creating a monochromatic card using Tangerine Tango.

  • The Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper Stacks in the various color collections is a great investment!  For $22, you’ll receive 40 sheets of beautiful 12″x12″ paper, 2 each of 2 double-sided designs in 10 colors (In Color configuration is 4 each of 2 double-sided designs in 5 colors.)  This bold diagonal strip is just perfect for so many looks!
  • For a bold image, I stamped the sentiment from Birthday Blooms using VersaMark then sprinkled on Black Embossing Powder and heat set with the Heat Tool.  You’ll need an Embossing Buddy so you won’t get little flecks of black where they don’t belong!  Black Embossing Powder is being discontinued, so grab yours now!
  • The flower image is stamped using Black StazOn Ink on Shimmery White Cardstock.  I colored the image in with an Aqua Painter and stamp pads, then cut the image out with Paper Snips and adhered to the Circle using DimensionalsNote:  The Circle Framelits are also retiring!
  • Before adhering the circle in place, I pulled apart some of the Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine and used that behind the image.  This product is also being retired – and you can order it for 30% off!

BirthdayBloomsTangerineTango2

  • Try this easy layout in any of your favorite colors.  I think it would be a great card to build a set around.  Make one in each of the ten colors in the Brights Collection, since you will have all the designer paper you need in one packet!

BirthdayBloomsTangerineTangoCloseup

  • To continue with the gold accent theme, a little touch of Gold Glitz Dazzling Details sets of the flower center.  Be sure to use this product once your card is 100% assembled.  It takes a good 20 minutes or so to dry completely.

RETIRING PRODUCTS USED IN THIS CARD:

  1. Stampin’ Emboss Powder in Black – NOW SOLD OUT
  2. Circle Collection Framelits
  3. Gold Metallic Baker’s Twine

Balloon Celebration and Weekly Deals

balloon celebration 2

What’s better than balloons for creating birthday cards, and Stampin’ Up! has given us so many fun coordinating pieces to create balloons in the Balloon Celebration stamp set from the 2016 Occasions Catalog.  This card is actually quite simple and gets its wow factor from a pretty subtles color scheme and lots of dimension.

  • I began by first stamping the collection of strings on Whisper White Cardstock using a Black Memento Stamp Pad.
  • Although there are several stamping options for the balloons themselves, I opted to simply punch out cardstock using the coordinating Balloon Bouquet Punch.  Bundle and save 15% when you purchase the Balloon Celebration stamp set AND the coordinating Balloon Bouquet Punch.  I used all colors from the Subtles Collection, with the exception of the In Color Mint Macaron.  I just love this soft green!
  • I arranged the balloons to look as if they’re coming from the strings and used Dimensionals to create depth to the bundle.

Birthday Celebration closeup

  • A piece of Calypso Coral Seam Binding Ribbon ties them all together.  Use a Glue Dot for a fast hold.
  • Love the font used for the sentiments in Balloon Celebration!  I accented my sentiment banner with a Wisteria Wonder Candy Dot from the Subtles Collection.
  • The background diagonal striped paper comes from the Subtles Color Collection.  This package of designer paper is so versatile and economical.  You’ll receive 40 sheets of 12″x12″ paper, 2 each of 2 double-sided designs in all 10 collection colors.
  • I often use a thin black border to set off the various elements of my cards.  By using Black Cardstock between the card base and the designer paper, it really makes the colors pop!

And today is Tuesday, so there are new Weekly Deals!  Stampin’ Up! also announced today that they will be discontinuing the Weekly Deals program on April 18th.  So there’s just two weeks left to get in on the savings!
