Painted Petals Thank You for Mother’s Day
I was thinking that a thank you card just might be the most appropriate Mother’s Day card there is! We have so much to thank our mothers for and this pretty card would be perfect.
- The Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog will be retiring on June 2nd, and one of my favorite suites to work with is the Painted Petals coordinated products. Here I’ve used the Painted Blooms stamp set and the Painted Blooms Designer Paper, and there’s also a Spring Flowers Embossing Folder that coordinates beautifully. And the stamp set is available in all three stamp types – wood, clear mount or photopolymer!
- The color scheme is from the designer paper – Blackberry Bliss, Rose Red, Wild Wasabi and Soft Sky.
- This stamp set has a lot of different components, and some can be used as base stamps for lots of other stamp sets. Here, I’ve used the row of watercolor circles to create a border above the Soft Sky Cardstock strip, and this could be so useful on so many cards.
- The Oval Framelits used with the Big Shot creates the backdrop for the pretty flowers. There’s a stamp for the stems and a separate one for the flowers, so it’s easy to stamp them in different colors.
- It’s not easy to see in the photo, but the flowers have just a touch of Dazzling Details to make them shine.
- Love the font combo for the sentiment – it’s stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink.
- Three Soft Sky Candy Dots finish up the card. You’ll find them in the Subtles Collection of Candy Dots.
Wishing all of you mothers a beautiful day of being pampered and spoiled – you deserve it!

Your Perfect Day
Time to start thinking about wedding cards – June is the biggest wedding month of the year! Stampin’ Up! has a couple of really nice wedding stamp sets in the 2015 Occasions Catalog. Today I’m featuring Your Perfect Day. And remember – you only have until June 2nd to order from the Occasions Catalog!
- As with many of my cards, I began with a great wedding designer paper called Something Borrowed. It contains various prints in Sahara Sand and Whisper White, perfect for adding your own wedding color scheme. And with more sheets of each design, this paper is great for creating multiple projects, like wedding save the date, invitations or thank you cards.
- The cake image is stamped with StazOn Ink, then a slight bit of coloring was done with the Aqua Painter and Sahara Sand Stamp Pad.
- A piece of Doily peeks out of the side for a little soft interest.
- I also used the Corner Rounder on the two right-hand corners. This little addition can change up the look of your card so much!
- The sweet hearts on the cake come from the Heart Border Punch. I added tiny Pearls to each.
- Stampin’ Up! Blushing Bride Cotton Ribbon is so soft and easy to tie. Here I added a second piece to have a double knotted ribbon look.

Sweet Dreams, baby boy or baby girl!
Whether you need a baby boy or a baby girl card, this one works out great! Stampin’ Up! has designed the Sweet Dreams Designer Paper and the Sweet Dreams Designer Buttons so that you’ll have lots of choices!
- The One Tag Fits All is such a fun stamp set! Here I’ve stamped the frame in Lost Lagoon Ink and Calypso Coral Ink. The duck is stamped, colored in with markers, cut out and popped up on Dimensionals. Please note: While the catalog says that this stamp set coordinates with the Note Tag Punch, I would not recommend planning to use the punch with the stamped frame image. I feel it takes too much of the frame away, and I preferred to cut it by hand with my Paper Snips. It’s an easy image to hand cut and the results are much better.
- Do I ever make a card that I don’t use the Circle Framelits? I think it is the most useful tool I have in my studio!
- Add some coordinating embellishments from the Occasions Catalog. The Sweet Dreams Designer Buttons contain the Crisp Cantaloupe and Lost Lagoon buttons, as well as one in Sahara Sand and a pretty white heart. Tie some simple White Baker’s Twine through the center and adhere it to the card with Glue Dots.
- A snip of Hello Honey Quilted Cotton Ribbon is tucked behind the circle. It works for both cards since the duck is also colored Hello Honey.
- The Sahara Sand cardstock layer is run through the Big Shot using the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder for the top of the cardstock.

Sheltering Tree Thinking of You
Sheltering Tree stamp set by Stampin’ Up! has been one of the most popular stamp sets in the 2015 Occasions Catalog. And with good reason! There are so many pieces to this stamp set – 14 in all – to create trees for all seasons and holidays. You’ll find an additional card I made using this stamp set HERE. There are really minimal materials for this simple card – the fun is in the stamp set and all the different components you’ll be able to use!
- I’ve used the cloud print from Sweet Dreams Designer Series Paper to replicate a backdrop of sky. This gorgeous paper isn’t just for babies!
- Stamping in two tones of green really brings the tree to life. I first used Pear Pizzazz ink then stamped over it with the same bitty stamp I used for the flowers using Old Olive ink.
- Thinking of you sentiment comes with the stamp set, and is perfect for any occasion – or no occasion at all! Time and again I hear that people are so thankful to receive a hand-stamped card.
- A simple clip from Basics Hodgepodge collection holds a small piece of Calypso Coral ribbon to the edge – don’t forget to use Dimensionals so that you have room for the clip to ride behind the image.
- The card base is Soft Suede – a pretty shade of brown you’ll find in the Neutrals Collection.

Indescribable Gift
Easter is early this year – April 5th – so I’ll be gearing up to show you lots of Easter projects during March. For my first card of the season, I’ve used Indescribable Gift, a beautiful stamp set in the 2015 Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog. You’ll receive this beautiful flower image plus 3 great sentiments.
- My color scheme for this card is Pear Pizzazz, Pink Pirouette and Rose Red, with just a touch of So Saffron for the flower centers and Crumb Cake for the tree branch.
- I’ve always loved coloring images with my Aqua Painter and stamp pads. And while our Blendabilities are on hold right now, I’m back to one of my favorite ways to color! I used Naturals White cardstock; this paper takes the water from the Aqua Painter much better than the smooth Whisper White cardstock.
- Remember to stamp with StazOn when using water!
- The pretty Pink Pirouette polka dot paper (say THAT 3 times fast!) comes from the Subtles Backgrounds Designer Series Paper Stack.
- The splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge stamp set has got to be one of my favorite stamps of all times! It adds just a little something to fill in around the edges.
- The sentiment is punched out with the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch. I added a piece of Rose Red Lace from the Artisan Embellishment Kit behind it and popped the circle up with Dimensionals.

A Mother’s Love
A very dear friend lost her mom last week. I know all too well how painful it is to say goodbye to one of the most important people in your life, and so I wanted to make a very special card for her. While the Stampin’ Up! 2015 Occasions Catalog stamp set called Mother’s Love is meant to use to celebrate Mother’s Day in May, I thought it was perfect for a sympathy card.
- My card began with wanting that beautiful font and saying to really stand out. I stamped it in Rich Razzleberry ink and then cut it out with an Oval Framelit and Big Shot.
- Next was fitting in the stamped flower – I stamped it with Memento Black Ink and colored it in with Rich Razzleberry and Wild Wasabi Blendabilities.
- The Wild Wasabi Cotton Twine from the Painted Blooms collection worked really well for my card.
- The Stacked With Love Designer Paper isn’t just for Valentine’s Day. I had several sheets left over and just used the black and white side to add a touch of print to the card and to line my envelope using the Envelope Liner Framelit and Big Shot.
- Adding a little something to the inside really gives your card a finished look. It also creates an easier space to write a message when using dark cardstock.
Sometimes simple is better, especially with a sympathy card. I hope my friend knows how much my thoughts are with her during this really difficult time.

Painted Petals from Leadership Conference
Today began the Stampin’ Up! Leadership Conference in Orlando. I wasn’t able to attend this year, but I did watch some of the conference via live streaming. I loved the projects that our Co-Founder and CEO Shelli Gardner presented. The good thing about not going is that I could go right to my design table and try some of her ideas. Sad to say, this card didn’t turn out nearly as gorgeous as Shelli’s – I’ve decided I’m just not a shabby chic kinda gal – but I still thought it showed off the Painted Petals stamp set in the Occasions Catalog nicely.
- Colors are Blackberry Bliss, Soft Sky and Pear Pizzazz.
- For the splatters, I used Gorgeous Grunge for the Blackberry and Sky splatters. For the Pear Pizzazz, I took a wet paint brush, dipped it in the ink and “flung” it onto the cardstock with little tap of the brush.
- The sentiment is a great one – who wouldn’t want to receive this! It’s stamped in Memento Black Ink, cut out with an Oval Framelit and popped up on Dimensionals.
- Pearls are the only embellishment, keeping it simple and letting this pretty stamp set do its thing!
I want to try this same card in different color schemes and with different sentiments. Once you have a great layout like this one, you can change it up all different ways. I’m thinking Strawberry Slush, Mossy Meadow and Coastal Cabana next!

You’re going to love working with the sweet images in the new Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Hey, Valentine. And today I’m also showing you two separate gifts you can receive during the biggest sale event of the year – Sale-A-Bration. With each $50 you spend from now until the end of March, choose among fabulous free gifts in the new Sale-A-Bration brochure. I used some of the three ribbons in the accessory pack, but you’ll also receive coordinating buttons.
A circle theme is a great one when there’s fish and bubbles involved! The background of the card is Coastal Cabana cardstock run through the Big Shot using the Large Polka Dot embossing folder. The designer paper has a circle pattern, and I even rounded the corners of the main image using the Envelope Punch Board. Yep, best corner rounder ever – two for one use on this great tool!
Stampin’ Write Markers were used to color in this cute image. Color scheme in the designer paper is Calypso Coral, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Sahara Sand, Soft Suede and Whisper White. Don’t forget to use StazOn Black Ink to stamp your image when you want to do some coloring!
