Floral Wings and Bold Butterflies Framelits

Floralwings1

No one does coordination better than Stampin’ Up! and today’s card is no exception!  Floral Wings stamp set is a photopolymer host-exclusive set in the Annual Catalog and has uber coordination factor in the various pieces of this two-step stamp set.  And Bold Butterflies Framelits along with the Big Shot will cut that sweet butterfly out just perfectly.

  • I’ve grabbed a palette of 2015-17 In Colors again, using Delightful Dijon, Cucumber Crush and Tip Top Taupe.  Gosh, will I ever get tired of these gorgeous colors?
  • Be sure to purchase a package of the 2015-17 In Color Designer Series Paper Stacks.  You’ll receive 40 sheets total, 4 each of 2 double-sided designs in the 5 new In Colors.  I’m tellin’ ya – you’ll be using this paper on every project!
  • The Gold Metallic Doily was the perfect backdrop to my butterfly, but because this is a gate-fold card, I needed that piece to be a little more substantial, so I cut a Delightful Dijon cardstock circle from my Circle Framelits and adhered them together.

Floralwings2

  • You can see that this cards folds in half in the center, and the circle motif is what keeps the card together.  Just cut your cardstock base at 8-1/2″ x 5-1/2″ like usual, but then score it at 2-1/8″ and 6-3/8″.  I used my ScorePal for quick scoring.
  • You’ll want a strong adhesive to adhere half of the circle to the front of the card.  The new Tear & Tape Adhesive works perfectly for this job!  I also used it down the center of the butterfly body to adhere it to the Gold Doily, allowing the wings be free.

Floralwings3

  • And here’s the inside of my card.  Some stamping on a Whisper White cardstock liner is another great coordinating element.

Any questions about the gate card fold?  I’d love to hear from you – just leave me a comment!

Watercolor Words

WatercolorWords

Watercolor Words stamp set by Stampin’ Up! really caught my eye on the first pass through the new 2015-16 Annual Catalog!  I love how all of the stamps look watercolored and think it’s pretty clever that the stamps can be made so that there’s less ink on part of the stamps – on purpose!

  • I can’t seem to get away from using the new 2015-17 In Colors – they’re just gorgeous!  This is Watermelon Wonder and Mint Macaron with Basic Black.
  • Great coordination factor – the flower in the Watercolor Words stamp set goes so nicely with the flower in the In Color Designer Series Paper Stack.
  • Circles are made with the 1-3/4″ and 1-3/8″ Circle Punches, and the banner end is cut with the new Banner Triple Punch.
  • The center of the flower is created with a Metal Rimmed Pearl colored black with a Sharpie marker.
  • Dimensionals are important to this card.  The entire Whisper White Cardstock piece is popped up , then the flower circle is raised up off the card front by stacking 2 Dimensionals together on the left side and one Dimensional on the right side.

WatercolorWordscloseup

This card came together in under a half hour.  It’s simple but effective for when there’s not a lot of time for fussing.

2015-17 In Color Pairings

IC tip top taupe

Do you remember the previous post with the cool layout I posted HERE?  I decided to use that same layout and explore some interesting color combinations using the new 2015-17 In Colors along with existing colors.  I’ve really enjoyed seeing different results in using all of the In Colors together, and now it’s time to pair the new In Colors with some of our other favorites.  Here are a couple of cards using just the new 2015-17 In Colors –  click HERE, HERE and HERE for some samples of how well they work together.  For now, let’s look at some other combos!

This card begins with Tip Top Taupe, our brand new neutral in the 2015-17 In Color Collection.  I love this paired with Basic Black, but then it needed a pop of color – and Bermuda Bay was just the color to do that!

IC Cucumber Crush

Next up is Cucumber Crush.  It looks fantastic with Basic Black again, and an equally bright and cheerful color Melon Mambo.  It’s also going to be a great color for a traditional Christmas green color.

IC Delightful Dijon

Delightful Dijon is going to be my “go to” color of autumn!  I just love the rich gold color.  It pairs nicely with a lot of the Regals Collection colors, and here I chose Cherry Cobbler.

IC Mint Macaron

Mint Macaron looks wonderful with a lot of colors!  I chose Calypso Coral and Blackberry Bliss for this card for a bit of an unusual combination but one I think works well.

IC Watermelon Wonder

If I had to choose one favorite color among the new In Colors, it would be Watermelon Wonder.  I love that it’s an unusual pink with a touch of coral to it.  It also combines well with a variety of colors.  Here I chose Island Indigo and Smoky Slate.

With all the cards, I used the 2015-17 In Color Designer Series Paper Stack, a White Perfect Accent and a Rhinestone for accessories.  Some have ribbons; others have a strip of cardstock in the background.  I used three different Circle Punches and ran the two colored circles through the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder.  And don’t forget to pop a couple of the circles up with Dimensionals – it makes such a difference!

You’ll notice that I stamped all of my cards with a welcome stamp – that’s because we added seven new members to the From the Heart Stampers Team last month!  Each brand new member received one of the color combos above.  I’d love for you to give the Stampin’ Up! experience a test drive – why not check it out further HERE and let me know if you’re interested!

Watercolor Wings and Bold Butterfly Framelits

Watercolor butterfly

I’m sure by now you’ve seen lots and lots of samples using the coordinating products Watercolor Wings stamp set and the Bold Butterfly Framelits by Stampin’ Up!  But really, the possibilities are endless!  And you save by purchasing both in a bundle!

  • I’m totally hooked on the new 2015-17 In Colors.  I just can’t get enough of them!  And in my opinion using Basic Black with them just makes them pop.  I tried using the Tip Top Taupe as the card base and butterfly, and it just wasn’t as pretty.  Check out another card using 2015-17 In Colors and Basic Black HERE.
  • I began by running a strip of Delightful Dijon cardstock through the Big Shot with the brand new Elegant Dots Embossing Folder.  Another great one to use would be Fluttering with the embossed butterflies.
  • Rounding the corners on the Mint Macaron cardstock softens the look and coordinates better with the Watermelon Wonder cardstock circle which was cut with the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch.  The leaf that’s stamped tone on tone comes from World of Dreams stamp set.
  • Now for the fun part – creating our butterfly!  I ran Basic Black cardstock through the Big Shot with the Bold Butterfly Framelit.  Then I used the framelit to trace a butterfly on the Watermelon Wonder Designer Paper.  I cut it out by hand with my Paper Snips and glued on the Basic Black piece over the top with a 2-Way Glue Pen.  After gluing, you can go back and trim more paper off if necessary.  I stamped the antennae on the circle then adhered the butterfly to the circle with one Dimensional in the center.

Bold Butterflies Framelits

  • This beautiful sentiment is contained in the Watercolor Wings stamp set.  I love what it says and I love the font!  I stamped in Black Memento Ink – my black ink of choice for most projects.
  • Now for some accessorizing!  The sweet resin flower is from the new In Color Blossom Accents – 4 each of all 5 colors in a package!
  • The four black shiny circle accents are White Perfect Accents colored with a Sharpie.  You can color them any color you choose, and they’re self adhesive.

Do you love the 2015-17 In Colors as much as I do?  Why not join my In Color Club – details can be found HERE.  But hurry – there are only two weeks left to join!

Happy June Birthdays with Layered Letters Alphabet

Happy Birthday Wishes

Happy June!  I’m in the process of making a big stack of these birthday cards to send out to my customers and team members whose birthdays are happening this month.  I’m sharing it here for three reasons:

  1. Learn how to receive your birthday card – with enclosed 20% off coupon – on your birthday month with my Birthday Club.  Click HERE to read all about it and to sign up.
  2. After seeing this pretty card, I just know you’ll want to sign up for my new 2015-17 In Color Club – an easy, affordable way to get all of the new In Color products.  Click HERE to read about the In Color Club and to join now.
  3. The black and white designer paper is part of a brand new 12″ x 12″ paper pack called Everyday Chic.  Grab yourself a Designer Series Paper Share that I’m offering and receive it, as well as a total of  111 6″x6″ sheets of all of the new designer papers for this year!  Click HERE for all the details about my Catalog Shares.

And now on to the card details.

This card features almost all brand new product from the 2015 Annual Catalog that is being released tomorrow – June 2nd!

  • I began the idea for making this card by realizing that “happy” has 5 letters and there are 5 new In Colors. – Cucumber Crush, Delightful Dijon, Mint Macaron, Tip Top Taupe and Watermelon Wonder.  What could be more perfect!
  • And the best new alphabet set is Layered Letters Alphabet.  The stamp that creates the 5 colors behind the word is also included in this set.  I’ve owned alphabet stamps in the past, and this one has already gotten more use than any of the ones before.  And it comes in photopolymer so it’s really easy to line up everything.  Be sure to use Black Memento Ink with your photopolymer stamps.  It’s easy to remove without a lot of staining.
  • The “birthday wishes” sentiment comes from another new stamp set called Build a Birthday.  You’ll definitely be seeing this stamp set more than just the sentiment used.  It’s a great cake-building stamp set, also in photopolymer so that you can line up all the different layers of the cake.
  • Everyday Chic has all black and white patterns to it and is totally usable for all your projects.  I was fortunate enough to receive this package of paper on the Incentive Trip to Hawaii; it isn’t available to demonstrators for pre-order, so there is no code generated for it at the bottom.  Just know that on June 2nd, you can order Item No. 138445 for $11.
