Founder’s Circle Swap
I'm back from a wonderful trip to St. George, UT, for the annual Founder's Circle retreat. Can't believe what beautiful swaps I received from the top 100 demonstrators in the company! I'll be sharing many of them with you in the coming weeks, but for today, I'll share my own swap that I took along. We were challenged to keep our cards simple, and I think I got a bit carried away! The basic layout is simple but the background incorporates several different techniques.
- I'm very much a non-traditional color scheme kinda gal for Christmas – this card uses Pink Pirouette, Old Olive and Baja Breeze.
- Love that we have the coordinating products to both stamp the ornaments and die cut them (Ornament Keepsakes stamp set and Holiday Framelits) – and purchasing the two products together saves you 15%.
- Baja Breeze 1/2" Seam Binding has just the right "feel" for this soft card.
- In the close-up below, you'll see paper piercing on both the middle ornament as well as the "strings" from which the ornaments hang. Use the new Festive Paper-Piercing Pack for the ornaments and the Essentials Paper-Piercing Pack for the straight lines.
- All ornaments are popped up on Dimensionals to give the feel of actually hanging.
- Sentiment is from Greetings of the Season – a beautiful 4-stamp set for the holidays – and is stamped in Basic Gray.
- A Basic Pearl dresses up the center ornament.
Background is created in 4 steps:
- You'll find a great "splotch" stamp in French Foliage! I used it first in Baja Breeze Classic Ink and then again in our new Illuminate Glimmer Watermark Stampin' Pad. This ink gives a beautiful shimmer to the card.
- Next I used the Pink Pirouette Stampin' Write Marker with the Color Spritzer Tool.
- And finally I used several drops of Old Olive Ink Refill in a small dish of water, then took a paint brush and "splattered" the ink onto the card.
This was my original version of my swap, but I realized I couldn't possibly make 120 of them! Ornaments are stamped on colored card stock with Versa Mark Ink and heat embossed using Silver Embossing Powder. The "strings" from which the ornaments hang are drawn on with a Silver Stampin' Dazzle Marker.
