Feeling Sentimental and Watercoloring

Another reason for my posting this particular card is that I wanted to let you know of the different types of card stock and how I like to use them. Watercoloring is one of my most favorite techniques. I like using the Stampin' Up! Aqua Painters. They come with two to a package – there's one with a small tip and one with a larger tip, depending on how you're using them. Simply fill up the barrel with water – no need for a brush! In order for your watercoloring to turn out just the way you want, remember to choose the right kind of card stock.
- Watercolor Paper is the most ideal for watercoloring. The paper absorbs water to keep it flat for a high-quality finished look. When you're using small pieces of this paper or making only a couple of cards, this is the best choice. However, for mass-produced cards or larger pieces, it can be a bit more costly.
- Another good choice for watercoloring is our Naturals Ivory and Naturals White card stock. These card stocks are nice and heavy and absorb the water well. You'll love using this card stock for your watercolored images.
- While our Whisper White and Very Vanilla card stocks are tops in their field, they are not good choices for watercolor. These sleek card stocks were designed to take a perfect stamped image, but they do not absorb the water like the other two card stocks. Purchase these wonderful products just for stamping and not for watercoloring.
For this card, I used the Aqua Painter to pick up ink from my Crumb Cake stamp pad and applied it around the image to create grounding and aging – nice for a vintage look.
