Easter Egg with Sale-A-Bration Glitter Tape and Washi Tape

I had so much fun creating the card I’m sharing today. Combining the Metallics Glitter Tape (a free gift during Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-A-Bration) and Washi Tapes to make this Easter egg is so easy, especially if you follow my easy directions below.
Begin with two pieces of Whisper White Cardstock. The one we’re going to cut with the Oval Framelit measures 5-1/4″ x 4″, then use the Corner Rounder on all four corners. This piece will be our frame. The second piece of cardstock measures 5″ x 3-3/4″ and will act as our working surface to create the egg.
On our working surface piece of cardstock, draw the oval using the same framelit that you cut out the frame cardstock with.
Begin using your Glitter and Washi Tapes to fill in the oval. You could also do this with strips of designer series paper, although having the adhesive already on the washi tape makes it go more quickly. For my egg, I used the Cherry on Top Washi Tape and the In Color Washi Tape that is a host-exclusive gift in the 2016 Occasions Catalog, in addition to the Glimmer Tape from Sale-A-Bration.
Adhere your frame cardstock over top of the working surface cardstock and you’re ready to continue to decorate your card!
- The “happy easter” sentiment is easy to separate from the image in the Easter Lamb stamp. Just use a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to color over the words then stamp onto your Whisper White Cardstock.
- The Rose Garden Thinlits Dies contain a frame that I used to cut out the sentiment, as well as the leaves that were cut out from Cucumber Crush Cardstock. Be sure to have your Fine-Tip Glue Pen handy for the leaves!
- I made the flower by cutting 6 layers of Watermelon Wonder Cotton Paper with the smallest of the Floral Frames Dies. Cut all 6 at the same time, then hold them together as you remove them from the thinlit. Using a Paper-Piercing Tool and Stampin’ Pierce Mat, poke a hole in the center and slide in a Mini Silver Brad. Begin in the center and smoosh the first layer of the flower in tight so it creates a knot in the center. Then smoosh in the other layers working from the center out, gradually smooshing less. (Yes, “smooshing” is a technical crafting term – LOL!)
