Bloomin’ Love Valentine
We’ve all fallen in love with the Love Blossoms bundle in the Stampin’ Up! 2016 Occasions Catalog! The Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies are delicate and detailed and oh, so pretty! But let’s explore the pretty Bloomin’ Love stamp set a bit more! For this card, I didn’t use the large heart thinlit, but I did use the two small flower thinlits that are also contained in the set.
- Like so often, my color scheme comes from the Love Blossoms designer paper that is part of the Love Blossoms suite – Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake (I changed it to Sahara Sand), Garden Green, Rose Red and Whisper White.
- I’ve used a piece of that designer paper 2″ wide to set the stage. Sahara Sand Lace borders the edge – use Fast Fuse Adhesive to hold the lace to the back of the designer paper.
- The Garden Green tag gets its pretty topper from the Ornate Tag Topper Punch.
- I stamped the heart image from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set in Garden Green ink on Whisper White cardstock. There isn’t a framelit to cut this heart shape, so I just “fussy cut” around the image with my Paper Snips.
- I added a bit of Sahara Sand Lace and White Baker’s Twine through the top.
- Flowers are cut out using the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies in both Rose Red and Blushing Blossom cardstock. They’re adhered at different levels using either SNAIL Adhesive or Dimensionals.
- I added Pearl Jewels to each flower center.
- No room for a sentiment on the front of the card, but that’s okay – you have the full inside of the card to say what you’d like! And you can also dress it up with leftover designer paper to coordinate with the front.
And Weekly Deals were announced this morning! Add on your favorite deal to your Valentine’s order!

Groovy Kind of Love Valentine
Our next card-giving holiday is Valentine’s Day, and it’s my favorite holiday for which to create cards. This year, Stampin’ Up! has given us so many Valentine’s Day products, both in the new 2016 Occasions Catalog and in the larger Annual Catalog, I’m not sure I’ll be able to show them all!
- For this card, I’m once again combining the old and the new. Groovy Love is a – well – “groovy” stamp set in the Annual Catalog that coordinates with the Sweetheart Punch. I love all the different images and sentiments in this one set – it could keep you busy for a long time!
- In the Occasions Catalog, there is a paper stack called Have A Cuppa. It goes with our tea suite and it is so adorable! But I thought I’d wait until Mother’s Day to show all of the cuteness to this suite. Looking through the papers, I noticed that there are several pieces with hearts, so it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, too! And as always, using Stampin’ Up! designer paper gives you a “no-brainer” color scheme for your card. I just picked up the colors in the designer paper to use as my solids – Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate (although the designer paper is Basic Gray, but I wanted a lighter feel).
- A really pretty new accent in the Occasions Catalog are the Botanical Gardens Jewels. It’s a pretty silver flower with attached rhinestone in the center. I’m going with the “flower power” idea on my groovy card!
- It’s really fun to create custom-sized cards so that you’re not always locked into filling the standard space. This card measures 3-1/2″ x 6″ so that I could take advantage of a longer, thinner card front. And I can easily create the perfect-sized envelope using the Envelope Punch Board. All I needed was an 8″ x 8″ piece of cardstock and the instructions on the board. I like Multipurpose Adhesive to put my envelope together. And while you’re making your envelope, you can use the Punch Board to round the corners on the designer paper – a two-in-one tool!
- Here’s a close-up photo so you can see the Botanical Garden Jewels accessory a little better. They’re super easy to use – just adhere with a Glue Dot. Pick up a container or two on your next order!

Bloomin’ Heart Love You
Stampin’ Up! has really outdone themselves with the 2016 Occasions Catalog! It’s going “live” to customers tomorrow, January 5th! And my card features a couple of my top picks from our new publication – the Love Blossoms Suite, including a Bundle & Save 15% opportunity to purchase the Bloomin’ Love photopolymer stamp set and the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies.
- You’re going to just love the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper – so, so pretty! I’ve cut it out using the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlit Die with the Big Shot. The Precision Base Plate and a new product – the Die Brush – will make it super simple to get your glimmer paper heart out of the thinlit frame.
- I really like combining existing merchandise with new products to give a fresh look. This background is the Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.
- In the Bloomin’ Love stamp set, you’ll receive this pretty banner frame along with 4 different sentiments that fit inside – perfect for sending love to anyone in your life! There’s a coordinating banner framelit in the Large Numbers Framelits Dies, or you can snip by hand using your Paper Snips. Be sure to pop it up on Dimensionals!
- A pretty little Black Satin Ribbon bow is all the accessorizing you’ll need!

Swaps for first-ever Stampin’ Up! OnStage Event
This past weekend I was excited to attend the first-ever OnStage event that Stampin’ Up! held globally throughout all if the markets in all countries. The closest one to my home in Rochester, NY, was Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, so we all headed north and over the border. Here’s a picture of some of those from my team in attendance. In all, I think we were about 14 – including my 3-month-old granddaughter Aubrey pictured with her mama!
As event attendees, we got to preview the new Occasions Catalog as well as this year’s Sale-A-Bration brochure, even before other demonstrators! And all I can say is man, oh, man – Stampin’ Up! did it again! Wait until you see these two amazing publications!
One of the highlights of any Stampin’ Up! event is swapping. Today I’ll show you the swap I created especially for this event. Then later I’ll share some of the fabulous swap cards I received in trade.
Since the majority of my Christmas card designing is already over, I chose to create a Valentine’s Day card, since that’s our next major holiday. And I just LOVE making cards for this special occasion – all the pinks and reds are so fun!
- I began my card using the stamp set Groovy Love for the hearts and an additional set called Something to Say for the sentiment. So that the stamped zebra heart was more substantial and traveled well, I used Stampin’ Up! Thick Whisper White Cardstock. It’s a heavier weight paper and so I was able to pop up that image on Dimensionals and have it look really nice.
- The Sweetheart Punch lines up beautifully with the zebra print heart, and the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits gave me the small heart border, as well as the larger Silver Foil heart.
- Rounding the corners of the Whisper White Cardstock added some interest.
- Lots of little embellishments on this one! The white heart on the Silver Foil heart is just one of the hearts that punched out of the border. I added a Cherry Cobbler Candy Dot from the Regals Candy Dots Collection, and Cherry Cobbler Baker’s Twine is wrapped around the card front three times and tied in a bow.
- Dazzling Diamonds is held onto the little Cherry Cobbler heart with Two-Way Glue.
I made 40 swaps – it’s always fun to see them all together!
- Stampin’ Up! Cellophane Envelopes kept all my swaps clean and neat while traveling. I highly recommend them!

Valentine’s Day Treat Fry Boxes
If you’re looking for a fun Valentine’s Day project, I’ve just completed lots of these. They went together quickly and were easy using the Stampin’ Up! Fry Box Die and Big Shot. Dress them up any way you like! I used Pink Pirouette cardstock; you can get two boxes out of an 8-1/2″ x 11″ sheet of paper.
- The Silver Glimmer Paper was punched out with the 2-1/2″ Punch, and you could also use the Circle Framelits.
- The sweet red heart is from a new baby stamp set in the Occasions Catalog called Little Sunshine. I love when I can get multiple uses for my stamps! The Sweetheart Punch lines up perfectly to cut the heart out.
- The Heart Border Punch is great for a tiny heart like the little black one on my project. I used a Mini Silver Brad to set it off.
- “Happy Valentine’s Day” comes from Teeny Tiny Wishes, still one of my favorite stamp sets!
- Of course, I had to bring my container to the grocery store to get matching candies! I found Valentine’s Day peanut M&M’s in the bulk department and filled the Stampin’ Up! 4″x6″ Cello Bags with them, then tied them up using Real Red Cotton Ribbon and some 1/8″ Silver Ribbon.
I love seeing a whole finished collection of these sweet containers. They look so pretty!

Valentine’s Day Ghirardelli Candy Holder
I initially posted this Valentine’s Day treat idea in February last year. It’s had so many hits on Pinterest this past month (over 50,000 impressions!) that I decided to re-post it so that you will have complete instructions on how to create these at home. It’s the perfect little chocolate gift decorated Stampin’ Up! style! The most important tool is the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.
- Begin with card stock that measures 2″ x 7-1/2″. Score at 3-5/8″ and 3-7/8″, so either side of center to make the gusset.
- Then punch both ends of your card stock with the Topper Punch. Decorate as you wish, or follow my design.
- I love the sweet hearts from the Adorning Accents embossing folder.
- I grabbed an oldie but goodie stamp set Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment.
- You’re going to LOVE embossing the Gold and Silver Foil Sheets! Here I used the Fasionable Hearts Embosslits, but I’m thinking I’ll be doing this a lot in the future with the embossing folders.
- Chocolates are tied up with Pink Pirouette Taffeta Ribbon and Gold Baker’s Twine.
- Add a sweet little Vanilla Candy Dot to one of the hearts and you’re done!
Here’s a close-up of one of them:
And what’s inside? Yum! Just hold it in place with a bit of SNAIL. Of course, my card stock just had to match the Ghirardelli dark chocolate and raspberry packaging!

Love in a different color
Here’s a stamp set you haven’t seen in the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog called Snuggles & Smooches. That’s because it was added to the Stampin’ Up! offerings in December as a new photopolymer release. Tap on the photo of this great stamp set below to view all of the images. This set has so many elements and so many possibilities. Here I’ve used 3 stamps from the 12-stamp set – the “love” and the two hearts.
- How do you feel about a non-traditional color scheme for Valentine’s Day? I was getting a bit tired with working with reds and pinks, so I thought I’d give this a try – Pear Pizzazz, Tempting Turquoise and Rich Razzleberry.
- The Pear Pizzazz background banner is run through the Big Shot using the Lovely Lace Embossing Folder, new to the 2014-15 Annual Catalog back in July. So pretty!
- The large heart from the Snuggles & Smooches stamp set coordinates with the Sweetheart Punch for a quick punched image. I used my Paper Snips to snip out the small heart by hand.
- I added a Tempting Turquoise Candy Dot from the Brights Collection.
And as promised, here are the results of the stamp giveaway that I announced HERE. I used a random name generator, plugged in the names of the people who left comments, and our winner is . . .

Hello Love Valentine
Here’s a quick and easy card using just 2 punches and one stamp from Stampin’ Up! It’s definitely a Valentine’s Day kinda card, but it could be used all year long. Who wouldn’t like getting this card in any month!
Not sure where the “hello love” came from? That’s because it’s from a retired hostess set called Good Greetings. Here’s a photo of all the great sentiments contained in this one set.
Since Good Greetings is retired, you can replace the sentiment with something else appropriate that you have. But wait – I just happen to have an extra copy that’s never been used! Leave a comment to this post and let me know which sentiment is your favorite from this set. I’ll do a random drawing from the comments below. Saturday, January 17th, is my birthday, and to celebrate I’ll choose a winner on that day. I’ll announce the winner here on my blog, so be sure to leave a comment now then check back on the 17th to see if you’ve won!
Now on to telling you about my card. Color scheme is Blackberry Bliss, Tangerine Tango and So Saffron – these colors work so well with each other, even though they aren’t in the same color collection!
- Begin creating the circle heart images by using the heart punch from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. Punch into the cardstock then using the 1″ Circle Punch, punch around the heart. It’s much easier in this order!
- Save out one of the punched hearts and pop it up on a Dimensional next to the sentiment.
- A little Tangerine Tango Baker’s Twine is all the accessory you need with this fun layout.
Enjoy creating your own card and have fun playing with different color schemes. This is a non-traditional Valentine’s Day color combo and if you’d prefer, you can try it in pinks and reds, maybe with some black.
