Sheltering Tree Thinking of You

Sheltering Tree Thank You

Sheltering Tree stamp set by Stampin’ Up! has been one of the most popular stamp sets in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  And with good reason!  There are so many pieces to this stamp set – 14 in all – to create trees for all seasons and holidays.  You’ll find an additional card I made using this stamp set HERE.  There are really minimal materials for this simple card – the fun is in the stamp set and all the different components you’ll be able to use!

  • I’ve used the cloud print from Sweet Dreams Designer Series Paper to replicate a backdrop of sky.  This gorgeous paper isn’t just for babies!
  • Stamping in two tones of green really brings the tree to life.  I first used Pear Pizzazz ink then stamped over it with the same bitty stamp I used for the flowers using Old Olive ink.
  • Thinking of you sentiment comes with the stamp set, and is perfect for any occasion – or no occasion at all!  Time and again I hear that people are so thankful to receive a hand-stamped card.
  • A simple clip from Basics Hodgepodge collection holds a small piece of Calypso Coral ribbon to the edge – don’t forget to use Dimensionals so that you have room for the clip to ride behind the image.
  • The card base is Soft Suede – a pretty shade of brown you’ll find in the Neutrals Collection.

Hi There and Bloom for You

hello

Don’t you sometimes just want to reconnect with somebody you’ve been out of touch with?  Or just let someone know you’re thinking about them?  Here’s the perfect card to say “hello” using Stampin’ Up!’s Hi There stamp set.  And the flower comes from a single stamp called Bloom For You stamped in Strawberry Slush ink and punched out with the coordinating Fun Flower punch.

  • The extra layer of white cardstock on the front allows me to tuck the end of the Bermuda Bay Striped Ribbon.
  • The Circle Framelits are perfect for any size circle.  I’ve cut out this gorgeous gold stripe print from the Gold Soiree Specialty DSP pack from the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.
  • I used the star clip from the Basic Hodgepodge Clips assortment, pinned it behind the white “hello” banner, then tied on a piece of Strawberry Slush Thick Baker’s Twine.  Hello is stamped with a Gold Encore Pad.
  • I added a Bermuda Bay Candy Dot to the center of the flower – love those things!

Nature’s Hello

 Nature's Hello flower

Remember THIS CARD from a few days ago?  I've used the same sketch to create the card today – isn't it funny how different two cards can look even when they begin basically the same?!

  • Nature's Hello is one of my favorite hostess-exclusive stamp sets ever!  I love the images, and it coordinates with both the Secret Garden and the Backyard Basics Framelits
  • I've used a fresh, modern color scheme of Smokey Slate, Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango, Basic Black and Whisper White.
  • Corner rounding is the name of the game on this card – I used the Envelope Punch Board, my favorite new corner rounder!  Spend just $19.95 to get a two-in-one tool!
  • I punched into the Smokey Slate cardstock background before adhering it to the Whisper White card base.
  • The Bermuda Bay cardstock took a ride through the Big Shot with the Arrow Embossing Folder before I adhered it to the front.
  • I used a strip of Basic Black Designer Series Paper across my card, but you could substitute that with a strip of ribbon or washi tape.
  • I love Stampin' Up!'s Silver Buttons – they lay nice and flat for easy mailing.  I ran a piece of 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon through the center holes and adhered it with a Glue Dot.
  • The main image is stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Tangerine Tango ink then cut out with a Secret Garden framelit.
  • Three Basic Black Candy Dots create a pretty center for the flower.

Retro Sending Good Thoughts

 Monday sketch #3

This year's Occasions Catalog has had so many fun new products!  And true to form, Stampin' Up! has given us terrific coordination in its products!

  • One of the biggest hits has been the Scalloped Tag Topper Punch.  Make your tag any length you want.  Just cut your cardstock to a smidge less than 2" wide, insert it into the punch tray and punch.
  • Sentiment comes from Perfect Pennants and is the perfect thing to say to someone!  Here I've stamped in Baked Brown Sugar ink on the tag, then stamped again on a scrap piece of Very Vanilla cardstock using Tangerine Tango ink, then adhered it with Dimensionals to highlight the word "good".
  • Our color scheme is set with the Retro Fresh Designer PaperBaked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, So Saffron, Tangerine Tango and Very Vanilla.  I folded down the top 1/2" of the Designer Paper to reveal the other side then tacked it in place using two Candy Dot Brad Bases with So Saffron Candy Dots from the Subtles Dots.
  • The Naturals Chevron Ribbon and Coastal Cabana Stretch Trim look so pretty topping the tag.
  • I used two other punches for this card.  There's a Baked Brown Sugar cardstock Triangle Punch to the left side of the tag, and the Chevron Punch decorates the bottom of the tag with Coastal Cabana cardstock punch-outs.

Peaceful Petals Thinking of You

embossed petals

This is my favorite card I've made in a long time – do you agree?  I'm loving the color scheme, and it all started because I bought a new bottle of Smoky Slate Embossing Powder that I really wanted to use!

  • The Calypso Coral 2-1/2" Circle is stamped using a VersaMark Stamp Pad and Peaceful Petals stamp and heat embossed using the Smoky Slate Embossing Powder and Heat Tool.
  • After embossing, I used an Aqua Painter and Tangerine Tango Stamp Pad and painted in some of the flower petals.
  • My new favorite corner rounding tool is part of the Envelope Punch Board.  I corner rounded the Coastal Cabana cardstock then stamped tone-on-tone using the leave image from Peaceful Petals.
  • The Arrow Textured Embossing Folder is such a fun addition to our Big Shot tools.  I used it on the Summer Starfruit cardstock.
  • Three Smoky Slate Candy Dots add accents, along with a Very Vintage Designer Button tied up with Calypso Coral Baker's Twine.

My youngest stamper!

Cidney

Meet Cidney.  She's been coming to my stamping classes twice a month for over a year!  She's my youngest stamper at classes, and I dare say, she does as good a job or better than my adult stampers.  I just love her to pieces!  Her genuine excitement about stamping is wonderful to see.

At my last class, Cidney proudly showed me a card she created at home all by herself.  She was so excited to share her creation that I wanted to share it with you.

Cidney's card

So grab your favorite youngin' and stamp with them!  It will enrich both your lives and carry on the tradition of hand-stamped cards.

Thankful Tablescape Cards

Have I got a treat for you today!  I am loving all of the new crafty kits in the Holiday Catalog.  One of my favorites is the Thankful Tablescape Simply Created Kit – but not for the reason you might think!  I'm just not a person who decorates the table for the holidays – I'm lucky if the food gets on the table much less decorations!  But I loved so many of the components in this great set.  So I went to work on creating cards from all of the great parts and pieces.

set1

Everything for this card is contained in the Thankful Tablescape kit, except for the sentiment, which is from Truly Grateful stamp set and the Basic Black card base. You'll receive all 3 designer papers, the leaves and the linen thread.

set2

Again, everything for this card is contained in the Thankful Tablescape kit, except for the sentiment, which is from Truly Grateful stamp set and the Basic Black card base.  I love the chalkboard look you can get with the black pieces in the kit and stamping and sponging with White Craft Ink.

set3

The Thankful Tablescape kit contains the great birch paper background, as well as the Tangerine Tango herringbone; image comes from Truly Grateful, and sentiment is from Sassy Salutations.

set4

Everything but the Early Espresso button and stamped sentiment are contained in the Thankful Tablescape kit.  I stamped the greeting in Versamark Ink, poured on some Early Espresso Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.

Can someone help me with where in the world I got the "you made my day" sentiment?  I've looked over my stamp shelf and the catalog and I can't remember which set it comes from!  Be the first to comment to this post and tell me which stamp set this came from, and I'll send you a little prize for helping me out!

New Stampin’ Up! Rotary Addition

Rotary Cutting card

Look closely at the three strips of cardstock down the left side of the card.  They've all been cut with the brand new Small Scallop Stampin' Trimmer Rotary Cutting Blade used with the Rotary Addition to the Stampin' Trimmer.

  • Color scheme is Smoky Slate, Pistachio Pudding, Strawberry Slush and Daffodil Delight.
  • I brought back an oldie but goodie stamp set for this card – Embellished Events.  This is a great all-purpose set, with 6 image stamps and 6 sentiments included.
  • Love the arrow paperclip from Cute Clips package, tied up with coordinating ribbons.

Stampin' Up! has put together a video showing how to use all the rotary accessories – please watch!

Here are two of the blade cartridges you can purchase –  Small Scallop Blade (pictured on right) and the Tiny Wave Blade (pictured on left).  I put a quarter in the picture so you could see how fine and delicate the cuts are – so pretty!

Sending Good Thoughts

Good Thoughts

Too Kind is the perfect stamp set to show off the coordination of using Calypso Coral and Crisp Cantaloupe together.  In this beautiful 2-step stamping stamp set, there are separate stamps for both shades in the flowers, and a separate stamp for the Pear Pizzazz stems.  And there are two wonderful sentiments as well.

  • I've used Baked Brown Sugar as the card base.  Next layer is Calypso Coral cardstock run through the Big Shot using the Honeycomb Embossing Folder.  A 1"x5-1/2" piece of Whisper White cardstock is also run through the Big Shot using one of the Finishing Touches Edgelits.
  • Next I added a piece of Calypso Coral 3/4" Chevron Ribbon – you're going to want this ribbon in every color!  It's so versatile and trendy.
  • Begin any 2-step stamping with the lightest color.  In this case, I stamped the Pear Pizzazz stems first so that I could properly place the flowers on top.  Then I stamped the larger images in Crisp Cantaloupe followed by the smaller images in Calypso Coral.  Don't worry too much about how perfectly you line them up.  Just stamp the center over the stem and it'll look great!  This is the easiest watercoloring you'll ever do!
  • Sentiment is stamped over the flower stem with Baked Brown Sugar ink.
  • I felt like the corner needed a little somethin' so did some paper piercing.  It's so simple when you have the Essentials Paper-Piercing Grid to help line up all the holes!

Bermuda Bay trio of cards

Bermuda Bay trio

Bermuda Bay is one of my favorite new core colors that Stampin' Up! added this month.  It is part of the Brights Collection, and man, did that collection change for me once this stunning color was added!  It was the "teal" that we were missing!  And to show you all how much I love this fun new color, I've created three cards using only Bermuda Bay and Whisper White to really show it off!

Bermuda Bay Bird

  • There are now Color Collection designer papers for each and every color and in fresh, modern prints!
  • I've used a wonderful new hostess-exclusive stamp set called Simply Sketched to create this simple but effective card.
  • Stamping in VersaMark ink and using Black Embossing Powder gives the bird a little lift and enables me to watercolor with my Bermuda Bay stamp pad and Aqua Painter more easily.
  • Circles are cut with the Big Shot and the new Circles Collection Framelits.
  • The sentiment is also from Simply Sketched – with this, a sympathy and a happy birthday sentiment, it's so versatile.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
Item No. 130911 Circles Collection Framelits $26.95
Item No. 129669 Simply Sketched wood $14 hostess dollars OR
Item No. 129672 Simply Sketched clear $10 hostess dollars
Item No. 130134 Brights Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stack $21.95
Item No. 129053 Heat Tool $29.95
Item No. 109133 Black Stampin' Emboss Powder $4.75
Item No. 102283 VersaMark Pad $7.50
Item No. 103954 Aqua Painters (2) $16.95

Bermuda Bay polka dot flower

  • This card measures 5-1/4"x5-1/4" to give me some more room to design.  I wanted to see a lot of that pretty designer paper!
  • Gifts of Kindness is the featured stamp set here.  It includes one decorative image (the polka dot flowers) and lots of sentiments for both outside and inside your cards.
  • I've tied the polka dots in the flower and in the designer paper with the Polka Dot Embossing Folder used on the Whisper White background.
  • Love the addition of the pretty new Bermuda Bay 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon!

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
Item No. 131206 Bermuda Bay 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon $5.95

Item No. 117335 Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder $7.95
Item No. 130134 Brights Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stack $21.95

Bermuda Bay thank you

  • Last up I've used a favorite stamp set called Creative Elements.  There are truly so many different elements in this stamp set to coordinate with each other.
  • The butterfly is cut out with my paper snips – no punch available for this particular butterfly!
  • The thank you sentiment is stamped with VersaMark and heat embossed with White Embossing Powder so you can really see it on the Bermuda Bay cardstock.
  • My new favorite accessory?  Candy Dots, hands down!  And we have them in all the core colors, so it's easy to match them up with your project.
