FINAL Sale-A-Bration card sample and chance for free gifts
This is it! Today (Tuesday, March 31st) is the last day to take advantage of the Stampin’ Up! free Sale-A-Bration gifts! It’s been so much fun to receive free gifts with qualifying orders over the past 3 months! Why not take one last chance to choose an additional free gift or two while you can! And you’re going to very much want the three Sale-A-Bration free gifts used to create today’s card.
- My idea for this card came from the gorgeous Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack. I particularly love the butterfly print. There are lots of fun things you can do with this vellum, like color in on the back side and use a stylus to push dimension into it. But here I just used it simply – with a beautiful color like Coastal Cabana cardstock placed behind it so the color can shine through.
- I love blues and purples together, and so I jumped immediately to my favorite purple – Rich Razzleberry – for the sentiment. Here’s the second Sale-A-Bration product in my card – Big Day stamp set. I used it for the “happy birthday” saying. But what to do to make the sentiment really stand out? I heat embossed it by stamping in VersaMark ink, sprinkling on Silver Embossing Powder and heat embossing it with the Heat Tool.
- I needed a bit more silver on my card to really tie it together so I used a Silver Button with two fibers attached. This is the third Sale-A-Bration product on my card – the Coastal Cabana ribbon from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack. I separated the vanilla twine away from the silver fibers of the Silver Baker’s Twine and added them in as well. Don’t forget a package of Glue Dots – they’re the very best adhesive for adding embellishments to your card.

More Easter and Nature’s Perfection
I couldn’t stop using the fun rose template that is part of the Artisan Embellishment Kit in the Stampin’ Up! 2015 Occasions Catalog. If you missed it, you’ll find another version HERE. I’ve also explained how to use Sponge Daubers and Stamp Pads to create the background on that first card. This one uses Real Red roses on a background of Old Olive.
- I die cut two Basic Black cardstock pieces for this card. The “happy” comes from the Hello You Thinlits, and the sweet edging is a piece from Finishing Touches Edgelits, both used with the Big Shot.
- The butterfly and the row of flowers are both stamps contained in Nature’s Perfection, a newly added stamp set to the Sale-A-Bration offering this month. Spend $50 (before tax/shipping) on any Stampin’ Up! products, and choose this beautiful stamp set free!
- I wanted the butterfly to have the same softly colored feel as the stenciled roses, so I stamped in Black StazOn Ink then used my Sponge Dauber and Real Red stamp pad to add a splash of color to it. And Stampin’ Up! has a coordinating punch called Elegant Butterfly that will line up with this stamp precisely.
- “Easter” comes from the Indescribable Gift stamp set, also in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.
- I came up with a pretty accent and something different for this card. I used the smallest Basic Black Button in the Neutrals Designer Button packet, then placed the largest Rhinestone Jewel in the center. Fits perfectly and gives the right look to the card!

Best Day Ever – 2015 Sale-A-Bration
There are so many terrific Stampin’ Up! special products that you can take free. But remember, this is the final month for Sale-A-Bration, the biggest sales event of the year! Be sure to stock up on all of your basic consumables this month – things like adhesive, cardstock and envelopes – to earn free products.
Today I’m featuring the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Best Day Ever. And good news – you can choose wood mount, clear mount or photopolymer! Here are all of the images you’ll receive with this great little set –
- I wanted to try a rainbow effect with my color scheme, but was tired of the traditional bright colors. Just for fun, I tried combining 2 Subtles colors (Pear Pizzazz and Calypso Coral) with 3 Regals colors (Rose Red, Crushed Curry and Island Indigo) for a bit of a different look.
- I stamped each color of flower, turning the petals so that the striped one ended up in a different place each time.
- Do you sometimes need more Black Candy Dots than all the rest of the neutrals color pack? I definitely go through them more quickly! For this card, I used the Very Vanilla Candy Dots (which I don’t seem to use very often) and colored them black with a sharpie. It worked great!
- Don’t forget to pop the main image up on Dimensionals!

Lotus Blossom Sympathy
The Lotus Blossom stamp set from the Stampin’ Up! 2015 Sale-A-Bration Brochure has been one of the most popular stamp sets ever! People are falling in love with three-step stamping and it’s so easy to create such a stunning result. And it can be yours completely free during the month of March with an order of at least $50 in Stampin’ Up! product.
Unfortunately I needed yet another sympathy card this week when a good customer’s brother passed away unexpectedly. I usually have these cards on hand, but I wanted something super special for her, and she loves the Lotus stamp set.
- I’m finding that rather than stamping the lotus blossom from dark to light, I’m stamping from light to dark. It seems easier to me to line up the petals. For my 3 colors for this card, I began with off stamping Rich Razzleberry (ink up your stamp, stamp on a scrap piece of paper then onto your cardstock). Step 2 was using Rich Razzleberry full strength, and Step 3 I used Blackberry Bliss ink.
- I used Pear Pizzazz cardstock as my card base and as the base for my main image. The Mossy Meadow Ribbon coordinated nicely, and I used Mossy Meadow Ink to stamp the sentiment from A Dozen Thoughts stamp set.
- Moonlight Designer Series Paper Stack contains this pretty Blackberry Bliss print.
- Be sure to use Dimensionals to add depth to your card. I popped up the main image and also the sentiment with this handy adhesive.
- Gorgeous Grunge stamp set created the splatters in the background. This is definitely the most used stamp set on my shelf!

IMPORTANT UPDATE: Stampin’ Up! is experiencing quality issues with the Blendabilities markers. Except for the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad (item #132708) and the Tuxedo Black Memento Ink Pad Refill (item #133456), all item numbers have been turned off; this includes Blendabilities Sale-A-Bration item numbers. At this time, backorders for Blendabilities will not be fulfilled. I know it is disappointing, but we will wait to hear from Stampin’ Up! as to what the problem is and when it might be rectified. I will share more information as it comes in.

Bokeh technique with Best Day Ever
I tried my hand at the bokeh technique (pronounced BOH-kay ) which is actually a photography technique but works beautifully with stamping, too. Creating a beautiful background, I wanted to keep the overall card really simple, so adding a sentiment is about all that’s necessary. Here I used Best Day Ever, a 2015 Sale-A-Bration stamp set that you can get free with a qualifying purchase. Here’s how you’ll create this pretty background:
- Cut a template out of scrap cardstock using Circle Framelits and the Big Shot. You could also use various circle punches – just pick a few different sizes. Here’s what my template looked like for this card:
- Using Watercolor Paper, various stamp pads and an Aqua Painter, color randomly, blending lightest color to darkest and overlapping in some places. I used Pool Party, Lost Lagoon, Perfect Plum and Blackberry Bliss.
- Dry thoroughly before the next step. If you want to move on, use the Heat Tool on dry setting No. 1 to hurry it along.
- Use your circle template and apply Whisper White Craft Ink with a Sponge Dauber over the watercolored paper. Pick different sizes and overlap them.
- To complete my card, I stamped “Best Day Ever” onto Vellum Cardstock using Stazon Black Ink. In order to attach the Vellum Cardstock to my card and not have adhesive show through, I used Mini Silver Brads.
- I added a simple Pool Party cardstock flower punched with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack flower. The center is a Rhinestone colored in with a Melon Mambo Blendabilities. Yes, they’re not just for coloring in your images – you can color pearls, rhinestones and buttons with them, too.
