Butterfly Basics Collage and FINAL Day for May Card Kits
I think my favorite stamp set in the 2015 Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog would have to be Butterfly Basics with the coordinating Butterflies Thinlits Dies. I love all of the collage-type stamps that you can work with in this versatile stamp set. I’ve used 5 of the 11 stamps in this card, and you could make a totally different looking card using the other 6 stamps. And good news – it’s available in all three stamp types – wood, clear mount or photopolymer – so that you can choose just the one you want.
- Of course, I had to add a few splatters from Gorgeous Grunge stamp set! If you don’t have this stamp set yet, I’m not sure how you’re able to make cards!
- My color scheme is Blackberry Bliss, Pear Pizzazz, Calypso Coral and Very Vanilla, with a touch of Sahara Sand.
- The Sahara Sand 7/8″ Lace Trim is a must for your vintage cards! It also works perfectly with wedding. Just apply a line of Fast Fuse Adhesive where you want your lace to be and stick the lace into the adhesive, gathering it along the way.
- A pretty row of Pearls accents the butterfly’s body.
- There are several things I’ve used on my card that will soon retire – Window Framelits, Basic Hodgepodge Clips and Blackberry Bliss Ribbon.
- I love the coordination of the Butterflies Thinlits with the stamped image from the Butterfly Basics stamp set. But there are also two very intricate butterflies in two different sizes that make the Thinlits set a must!
- Since the Blackberry Bliss cardstock is so dark, I lined the inside with Very Vanilla cardstock that was stamped on the corner for a bit of fun coordination.
You can’t go wrong with this beautiful stamp set and thinlit combination!

Painted Petals Thank You for Mother’s Day
I was thinking that a thank you card just might be the most appropriate Mother’s Day card there is! We have so much to thank our mothers for and this pretty card would be perfect.
- The Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog will be retiring on June 2nd, and one of my favorite suites to work with is the Painted Petals coordinated products. Here I’ve used the Painted Blooms stamp set and the Painted Blooms Designer Paper, and there’s also a Spring Flowers Embossing Folder that coordinates beautifully. And the stamp set is available in all three stamp types – wood, clear mount or photopolymer!
- The color scheme is from the designer paper – Blackberry Bliss, Rose Red, Wild Wasabi and Soft Sky.
- This stamp set has a lot of different components, and some can be used as base stamps for lots of other stamp sets. Here, I’ve used the row of watercolor circles to create a border above the Soft Sky Cardstock strip, and this could be so useful on so many cards.
- The Oval Framelits used with the Big Shot creates the backdrop for the pretty flowers. There’s a stamp for the stems and a separate one for the flowers, so it’s easy to stamp them in different colors.
- It’s not easy to see in the photo, but the flowers have just a touch of Dazzling Details to make them shine.
- Love the font combo for the sentiment – it’s stamped in Blackberry Bliss ink.
- Three Soft Sky Candy Dots finish up the card. You’ll find them in the Subtles Collection of Candy Dots.
Wishing all of you mothers a beautiful day of being pampered and spoiled – you deserve it!

Your Perfect Day
Time to start thinking about wedding cards – June is the biggest wedding month of the year! Stampin’ Up! has a couple of really nice wedding stamp sets in the 2015 Occasions Catalog. Today I’m featuring Your Perfect Day. And remember – you only have until June 2nd to order from the Occasions Catalog!
- As with many of my cards, I began with a great wedding designer paper called Something Borrowed. It contains various prints in Sahara Sand and Whisper White, perfect for adding your own wedding color scheme. And with more sheets of each design, this paper is great for creating multiple projects, like wedding save the date, invitations or thank you cards.
- The cake image is stamped with StazOn Ink, then a slight bit of coloring was done with the Aqua Painter and Sahara Sand Stamp Pad.
- A piece of Doily peeks out of the side for a little soft interest.
- I also used the Corner Rounder on the two right-hand corners. This little addition can change up the look of your card so much!
- The sweet hearts on the cake come from the Heart Border Punch. I added tiny Pearls to each.
- Stampin’ Up! Blushing Bride Cotton Ribbon is so soft and easy to tie. Here I added a second piece to have a double knotted ribbon look.

Nobody Loves Like a Mom
This sentiment is simply the perfect one for mothers everywhere and comes from the Stampin’ Up! 2015 Occasions Catalog stamp set called Mother’s Love. Mother’s Day is just a week away, so be sure to honor the moms in your life with a beautiful handmade card!
- I’ve used the pretty Painted Blooms Designer Paper as the basis for my card and a wonderfully springy color scheme – Blackberry Bliss, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Rose Red and Wild Wasabi.
- Gold Embossing Powder really makes the sentiment stand out on the Rose Red cardstock circle. It’s layered with a pretty Doily.
- Again, Stampin’ Up! does the coordination factor so well! I’ve used a Gold Button and some gold fibers from the Gold Baker’s Twine through the button, as well as Wild Wasabi Painted Blooms Cotton Twine.
- It’s a super simple card, but my mother-in-law will love it!
I’m missing my mom terribly as I create Mother’s Day cards; she has been gone 10 years now and left this Earth way too young. Please indulge me as I share one of my favorite pictures of the two of us. This picture says it all – no one loves like mom!

Sweet Dreams, baby boy or baby girl!
Whether you need a baby boy or a baby girl card, this one works out great! Stampin’ Up! has designed the Sweet Dreams Designer Paper and the Sweet Dreams Designer Buttons so that you’ll have lots of choices!
- The One Tag Fits All is such a fun stamp set! Here I’ve stamped the frame in Lost Lagoon Ink and Calypso Coral Ink. The duck is stamped, colored in with markers, cut out and popped up on Dimensionals. Please note: While the catalog says that this stamp set coordinates with the Note Tag Punch, I would not recommend planning to use the punch with the stamped frame image. I feel it takes too much of the frame away, and I preferred to cut it by hand with my Paper Snips. It’s an easy image to hand cut and the results are much better.
- Do I ever make a card that I don’t use the Circle Framelits? I think it is the most useful tool I have in my studio!
- Add some coordinating embellishments from the Occasions Catalog. The Sweet Dreams Designer Buttons contain the Crisp Cantaloupe and Lost Lagoon buttons, as well as one in Sahara Sand and a pretty white heart. Tie some simple White Baker’s Twine through the center and adhere it to the card with Glue Dots.
- A snip of Hello Honey Quilted Cotton Ribbon is tucked behind the circle. It works for both cards since the duck is also colored Hello Honey.
- The Sahara Sand cardstock layer is run through the Big Shot using the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder for the top of the cardstock.

Sheltering Tree Thinking of You
Sheltering Tree stamp set by Stampin’ Up! has been one of the most popular stamp sets in the 2015 Occasions Catalog. And with good reason! There are so many pieces to this stamp set – 14 in all – to create trees for all seasons and holidays. You’ll find an additional card I made using this stamp set HERE. There are really minimal materials for this simple card – the fun is in the stamp set and all the different components you’ll be able to use!
- I’ve used the cloud print from Sweet Dreams Designer Series Paper to replicate a backdrop of sky. This gorgeous paper isn’t just for babies!
- Stamping in two tones of green really brings the tree to life. I first used Pear Pizzazz ink then stamped over it with the same bitty stamp I used for the flowers using Old Olive ink.
- Thinking of you sentiment comes with the stamp set, and is perfect for any occasion – or no occasion at all! Time and again I hear that people are so thankful to receive a hand-stamped card.
- A simple clip from Basics Hodgepodge collection holds a small piece of Calypso Coral ribbon to the edge – don’t forget to use Dimensionals so that you have room for the clip to ride behind the image.
- The card base is Soft Suede – a pretty shade of brown you’ll find in the Neutrals Collection.

Happy Easter!
Wishing all my readers a very Happy Easter! I hope you’re able to spend some meaningful time with friends and family celebrating today.
I grew up in a tiny New York State town – population about 600! – and most people were Dutch. We had a tulip festival every year, decorating floats and crowing the tulip queen. Beds of tulips bloomed in the center of town. It’s always been a big part of my childhood memories, so when Stampin’ Up! came out with Love is Kindness single stamp with the beautiful tulip bouquet, I knew I just had to have it. But I wanted to have the capability to use it without the sentiment. This layout – cropping the image out with a Circle Framelit and Big Shot – helped solve that problem easily.
- I took my color scheme from Painted Blooms Designer Paper, using Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, Rose Red, Blackberry Bliss and Daffodil Delight, and I used the Wild Wasabi striped piece for the banner.
- A piece of Wild Wasabi Painted Blooms Cotton Twine looks nice and natural.
- Love the tiny Butterfly Punch – just a simple Rhinestone in the middle sets it off.
- My sentiment comes from Indescribable Gift. What a beautiful saying to begin this Spring season!

More Easter and Nature’s Perfection
I couldn’t stop using the fun rose template that is part of the Artisan Embellishment Kit in the Stampin’ Up! 2015 Occasions Catalog. If you missed it, you’ll find another version HERE. I’ve also explained how to use Sponge Daubers and Stamp Pads to create the background on that first card. This one uses Real Red roses on a background of Old Olive.
- I die cut two Basic Black cardstock pieces for this card. The “happy” comes from the Hello You Thinlits, and the sweet edging is a piece from Finishing Touches Edgelits, both used with the Big Shot.
- The butterfly and the row of flowers are both stamps contained in Nature’s Perfection, a newly added stamp set to the Sale-A-Bration offering this month. Spend $50 (before tax/shipping) on any Stampin’ Up! products, and choose this beautiful stamp set free!
- I wanted the butterfly to have the same softly colored feel as the stenciled roses, so I stamped in Black StazOn Ink then used my Sponge Dauber and Real Red stamp pad to add a splash of color to it. And Stampin’ Up! has a coordinating punch called Elegant Butterfly that will line up with this stamp precisely.
- “Easter” comes from the Indescribable Gift stamp set, also in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.
- I came up with a pretty accent and something different for this card. I used the smallest Basic Black Button in the Neutrals Designer Button packet, then placed the largest Rhinestone Jewel in the center. Fits perfectly and gives the right look to the card!
We’re in the final days of Sale-A-Bration AND also the final days of receiving your FREE March Card Shoppe card kits! Be sure to get your orders in before the end of the month!

Nature’s Perfection Easter
Today I’m showing you a card that mixes up several stamp sets and accessories. But the real feature here is how to create the rose stenciled background piece! I just LOVE the Artisan Embellishment Kit found on pg. 27 of the Occasions Catalog! It’s perfect for the home crafter, with a little bit of this and some of that all in one kit.
- One of the best parts about this kit is that there are two double-sided Sahara Sand and Whisper White 3″x4″ cards. you can use them “as is” or you can use them like a stencil. I combined my Sponge Daubers with this stencil, along with Hello Honey and Old Olive stamp pads, to create the pretty rose background.
- Another element from the Artisan Embellishment Kit is the Doily. It’s a bit smaller than the regular package of doilies we carry, and I like having some smaller sizes too.
- I’m also featuring the newly-added Sale-A-Bration stamp set called Nature’s Perfection which stamped the butterfly and the greenery on the 2-1/2″ Circle. I stamped the butterfly in Night of Navy ink then colored in with and Hello Honey and Marine Mist Markers. And Stampin’ Up! has a coordinating punch called Elegant Butterfly that will line up with this stamp precisely. Nature’s Perfection is only available as a free gift to you for spending $50 during Sale-A-Bration. But hurry – there are less than 2 weeks left of this fabulous sale!
- Happy Easter comes from Indescribable Gift stamp set found in the 2015 Occasions Catalog. I stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed using White Embossing Powder and my Heat Tool.
- Pearls are a nice accent down the body of the butterfly and a row of them under Happy Easter.

Happy Easter Bunny card
Today I’m showing you an Easter card using Happy Easter Bunny single stamp from Stampin’ Up! that will coordinate with the gift box I posted a couple of days ago HERE. I’ve used basically the same materials as with the box –
- I took my color scheme from the Confetti Celebration Designer Paper using two of the many pretty prints in this package to create the belly band.
- The Crushed Curry Ribbon comes from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack that is one of this year’s Sale-A-Bration free gifts. You only have two weeks left of Sale-A-Bration, and all non-stamp choices are only while supplies last. If you’re planning to order again to receive Sale-A-Bration items, please do it very soon – I wouldn’t want you to be disappointed when your choice is gone!
- The Happy Easter Bunny stamp set was the perfect stamped piece for the front of my card. You really don’t need much else with this nice big image. I was able to cut it as well as the border using the Oval Framelits Collection and Big Shot.
- I colored the tiny pieces with my Stampin’ Write Markers in Melon Mambo, So Saffron and Bermuda Bay. This is the perfect time to invest in the Many Marvelous Markers set of all 38 colors in our color collections. At $109.95, you’re saving substantially by purchasing the markers all together, and this is the only way to get the handy carrying case, too. And with Sale-A-Bration still going strong, you can choose TWO free Sale-A-Bration gifts for your marker purchase!
- I wanted a really light look for the bunny, so I switched my coloring technique to using both the Pink Pirouette and Smoky Slate stamp pads along with my Aqua Painters. This way, I could control the depth of color more and could be sure to get just a touch of color.
Oh, good grief – I did it again! Did you find the piece I forgot to color?! I really need to be more careful next time!
Here are the box and coordinating card together. I love that with our beautiful Stampin’ Up! products, we can create this matching look with our gifts and cards. It gives that added “wow factor”! (I did go back in and hit the missing piece on the card before I snapped this photo, but that poor bunny on the box is still missing his arm!)
