Blessed Easter

tulips
Today's post is my second Easter card for the season; in case you missed my first one, it's HERE.  I'm also showing you ways to use two of the free Sale-A-Bration products that can be yours when you place a Stampin' Up! order.

  • Blessed Easter is such a beautiful stamp!  It only comes in wood and is a single stamp, but you can convert it to a clear-mount stamp if you wish.  I split up the image and sentiment by stamping the sentiment on a piece of scrap cardstock and punching it out with the XL Oval Punch then mounted it with Dimensionals.
  • Tulips were stamped with StazOn Ink and colored in with Stampin' Write Markers.
  • I've used a Springy color scheme of Gumball Green, So Saffron, Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush.
  • The Labels Framelits are terrific for layering!
  • The two terrific Sale-A-Bration products are the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder and the Crisp Cantaloupe Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessories pack.  For each $50 you spend on Stampin' Up! products, you may choose a gift from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure completely free.

High Tide Best Mate

 best mate

This card is so easy with the help of the terrific designer paper prints found in High Tide Designer Series Paper and the coordinating stamp set Hello, Sailor.

  • Double matting this pretty paper with a Pacific Point card base and a small frame of Summer Starfruit cardstock really makes the designer paper stand out.
  • The beautifully coordinating Pacific Point Striped Grosgrain Ribbon is the perfect accent.
  • I love our ability to create wonderful framed images using the layering of the Deco Label Framelits.

  • I also used a couple of Silver Mini Brads on the sides of the sentiment.

This card would be perfect for your "best mate" for a birthday, anniversary, or just because!

Birthday Simple Stems

 flower HB

I decided to combine the old with the new for this card using Simple Stems stamp set along with Cycle Celebrations stamp for the sentiment.  This pretty designer paper called Birthday Basics has such terrific colors – Gumball Green, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding and Raspberry Ripple.

  • A little paper piercing around the circle adds some extra interest.
  • I used Finishing Touches Edgelits to cut the Crisp Cantaloupe cardstock at the bottom.
  • The new Petite Petals Punch is a must and looks cute with a Raspberry Ripple Dahlia in the center.

Fresh Prints and So Very Grateful

red thank you

The bright, cheery colors of Fresh Prints Designer Paper take center stage in this card, another using So Very Grateful stamp set.  I sure am going to miss this beautiful set when the Occasions Catalog retires June 1st.  I'm having such fun with it – it's so easy to use!

  • I began my main image with Real Red cardstock and heat embossed the flower image using VersaMark Ink and White Embossing Powder.  Next I used my Real Red stamp pad and Aqua Painter to give some depth of color to the center rose.
  • I added Rhinestones to the center flower and also to the bottom corner on top of some Baked Brown Sugar circles made with the Owl Punch.
  • The Coastal Cabana Ruffle Trim is so pretty and easy to work with – it ties a really nice knot.
  • Thank you is stamped with Baked Brown Sugar ink.

I'd love some feedback – do you like the new way I'm giving you the product list so that you have pictures of all of the items used?  Leave me a comment!

Hexagon Hive Thank You

 beehive
I'm in LOVE with the new Hexagon Hive Thinlit!  The possibilities are endless with this great new tool in the Occasions Catalog.  I'm thinking of a plan for all of the Very Vanilla hexagons that were cut out of this card!

  • HELPING HINT:  When creating your "sandwich" for the Big Shot, use the platform, then your cutting pad, then your cardstock, then a piece of waxed paper, then the die, then your last cutting pad.  By putting in the waxed paper, your cardstock will pop right out.
  • Black and Vanilla are such a classic look and the Modern Medley Designer Paper is just that – all prints in black and vanilla which are so usable!  I love the little pop of color – Strawberry Slush for the flowers and Pool Party for the butterflies.
  • The flower comes from two wonderful coordinating products – Flower Shop stamp set and Pansy Punch.  I just stamped two then used a Dimensional between them to add a nice focal point.
  • Center of the flower is a Basic Metal Button, also from the Occasions Catalog, with Pool Party Twine in the center.  This, along with many other products, can be yours during Sale-A-Bration completely free with a qualifying order!  And don't forget your Glue Dots to hold the button in place.
  • Butterflies come from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit.  This isn't a new product, but I continue to use it over and over.  This great tool die cuts and embosses the butterflies with one pass through the Big Shot.
  • Sentiment comes from Six-Sided Sampler stamp set – there are three that would work on the Hexagon Hive cardstock.

Retro Fresh Washi and Starburst Bundle

Happy Day washi tape
Today is a quick and easy card, and Stampin' Up! makes it so easy with coordinating products!

  • Use the Starburst Sayings bundle – stamp set and framelits – to create great layered main images.  I changed it up a bit by using Circle Framelits to cut out the Tangerine Tango layer.
  • Gorgeous Grunge stamp set gives the splattered look – mine gets constant use!
  • The pretty colored strips are Retro Fresh Washi Tape and go on in a snap.
  • A Metal Button and Whisper White Baker's Twine complete the simple look.

Happy Day washi tape 2

Double layering the white card base and the top of the card gives a lot of appeal.  I've raised the front of the card up with lots and lots of Dimensionals.

Seriously?

 seriously

Do you recognize this card layout?  It's the same layout I used in my previous post!  You'll get a completely different look to your card by using the same layout but changing stamps and papers.

  • For this card, I've begun with the I Am Me Designer Paper and the color scheme of Basic Gray, Real Red, So Saffron, Tangerine Tango and Pool Party.
  • I love the coordination of Just Sayin' stamp set and the Word Bubble Framelits – so trendy!
  • Tangerine Tango cardstock is punched with the Scallop Edge Border for some nice interest.
  • How fun are the Wooden Elements!  They're such a fun addition to our card making.
  • Wonder where I got the cool "seriously" stamp?  It came with one of my Paper Pumpkin subscription kits!  And you can get great new stamps like this one by becoming a Paper Pumpkin customer.  During March, receive a free set of In Color markers, too!  Click HERE to read all about Paper Pumpkin and subscribe.

  • Use a coordinating Tangerine Tango Candy Dot from the Brights Collection Dots to accent your arrow.
  • Basic Gray Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is the perfect ribbon accent for this card.  Use this card for guys or gals!

Afternoon Picnic and So Very Grateful

afternoon picnic thank you

We had a fun sketch challenge the other day over on our team Facebook page.  One of our demonstrators gave us a challenge to follow a sketch she'd drawn, and here's what I came up with.  I pulled out my Afternoon Picnic that had gotten dusty over the winter and started looking at the pretty color scheme – Basic Gray, Coastal Cabana, Crushed Curry, Pear Pizzazz and Wisteria Wonder.  While I didn't ultimately use much of the DSP (Just the Wisteria Wonder grid for the back layer), it did get me started on a great color palette for this floral card using So Very Grateful stamp set.

Interested in joining my team and linking to our private Facebook page?  There's no better time than during Sale-A-Bration!  From now until March 31st, receive $25 more in your starter kit for the same low price of $99.  Then receive 30% off on your first qualifying order, and 20% off all of your orders after that!  Read more about my team here!  Ready to join?  Click here to begin.

  • The Coastal Cabana DSP that came in Afternoon Picnic was too light and busy, so I grabbed a piece from the 2013-15 Designer Series Paper Stack.  It had a white background, and my card was more vanilla, so I used a sponge and Crumb Cake ink and went over the paper lightly to "dirty" it up.
  • The Finishing Touches Edgelit worked well with the look of the Doily and tied in my lacy theme.  Pearls accent both the flowers and the strip to the side to complete this look – definitely feminine and a little vintage.
  • The flowers from So Very Grateful were stamped in StazOn Black Ink then watercolored in with Aqua Painters and stamp pads.  I used Watercolor Paper for this main image to get the best results.

afternoon picnic thank you 2

To achieve some nice shading on your flowers, start out by using a little bit more water on your Aqua Painter and go over the entire image lightly.  Let it dry then come back in with more color and go over certain spots you want darker.  I did this with the Crushed Curry flowers, making the centers a bit darker.

“Tweet” Animal Talk

tweet

Today I thought I'd combine a couple of older products with newer ones.  I find when you do this, you get such a different look!  I noticed I hadn't used my Natural Composition Designer Paper in a while, and when I saw this terrific woodgrain piece, I knew I had to pair it with something springy.  Here in Centeral New York, it's 5 degrees as I type this and we just got quite a bit more snow overnight, so I'm really trying to think Spring!

  • Color is such an interesting thing!  In fact, it's really what brought me to stamping.  I just love the interplay of colors and how some "work" and some don't.  I started this card with Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight and it just wasn't right.  Switched it up to Soft Sky and Summer Starfruit and voila – the perfect feel!
  • Corner rounding has always been one of my favorite accents, and now with the help of the Envelope Punch Board, I have perfectly rounded corners every time.  At just $19.95, this is going to be your "go to" tool – for something as basic as corner rounding and for making all sorts of coordinating envelopes for your beautiful cards.
  • The main image stamp is from Animal Talk stamp set, and I've used markers to ink up the image and stamp on a Whisper White cardstock circle cut with the Circle Framelits.  This wonderful collection of circles is also a real must in your collection.  With 10 different layering pieces, you're sure to have just the right size.  Be sure to grab Dimensionals for your circle to give it a little lift.
  • The Natural Chevron Ribbon is the perfect embellishment for this card – nice and natural to go with our bird theme.
  • Don't know what I'm going to do without Summer Starfruit come June when it retires!  It's been the missing color in our palette for me!  I do hope it returns one day, but for now, I'm using it as much as I can!  Here I've used the new Petite Petals Punch along with a Dahlia to create the floral accent.  Glue Dots are the best way to adhere the Dahlias to cardstock.
  • In Color Dahlias are on the Weekly Deals – but hurry; they're only on sale today, along with the Summer Starfruit Ribbon!

A simple backdrop of black and white sets off these pretty little lanterns from Happy Congratulations stamp set.  I used scraps of my Brights Designer Series Paper Stack along with the smallest circle fromthe Cirlce Framelits set to cut out one of every color in the Brights CollectionDimensionals are a must on this card – they bring the lanterns to life!

I love the sweet sentiment and great font of "hey there friend".  But it's not in any of our catalogs!  It came from the Welcome Kit for Paper Pumpkin!  And if you haven't already subscribed to this fantastic card kit, now's the time!  You'll receive a FREE set of Stampin' Write Markers along with your first Paper Pumpkin kit.  Read all about Paper Pumpkin HERE.
