Another Great Year and Kaleidoscope DSP

Another Great Year and Kaleidoscope

I’ve really enjoyed working with all of the terrific products in the Stampin’ Up! 2013-14 Occasions Catalog.  And did you know – most of the products are due to retire on June 1st!    I love Another Great Year stamp set – I’ve used it in a couple of other posts HERE and HERE.  It’s really a great stamp set and you might want to grab your copy before it’s gone!

  • I’ve paired the stamp set with Kaleidoscope Designer Paper, also in the Occasions Catalog and due to retire on June 1st.  I love the colors in this pretty retro paper – Bermuda Bay, Summer Starfruit, Strawberry Slush, Basic Black and Whisper White.
  • I took a bit of a different slant with this card and began with Basic Black cardstock and using my VersaMark Pad and White Embossing Powder, heat embossed the sentiment.  Then I stamped it again using StazOn Black Ink, stamped on an additional piece of Kaleidoscope Designer Paper and then cut out the “happy” and the “to you”.  I added them over top of the original stamped images and adhered them to the card with Dimensionals.
  • I used a large Metal Button as my accent on this card, and these great embellishments are carrying over into the new catalog!
  • Did you wonder with what Stampin’ Up! was going to replace the 2013-15 In Color Ruffled Trim?  Well here’s a sneak peek – did you like the 2014 Sale-A-Bration colored twine?  Well now we have it in all 5 In Colors!  I used Strawberry Slush Thick Baker’s Twine on this card.  And you’ll be able to order all 5 colors on June 2nd!

Peaceful Petals Thank You

So Very Grateful Thank You

Here’s a card using a stamp set called Peaceful Petals from the Stampin’ Up! 2014 Occasions Catalog.  I love this beautiful sketched set!  Sentiments in the set are “thank you” and “thinking of you” – the two most used sentiments for me  (birthday would be third!).  Three flower stamps and two “greenery” stamps are also included.  Here’s what you get:

Peaceful Petals

I’ve also made two other cards using Peaceful Petals that you can find HERE and HERE.

  • Color scheme is a fun one today – Baked Brown Sugar, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Raspberry Ripple.
  • The Raspberry Ripple designer paper comes from the Birthday Basics designer paper – only available while supplies last!
  • The Bermuda Bay cardstock is run through the Big Shot with the Chevron Embossing Folder.
  • I’ve added a hint of Champagne Glimmer Paper for a little something extra.  Grab a 2-Way Glue Pen to make putting adhesive on a skinny piece super easy.
  • The main image is Crushed Curry cardstock stamped with the same color ink with the image from Peaceful Petals.  Then I took an Aqua Painter and colored in the petals with Crushed Curry ink.  It gives you a pretty, subtle flower.  I used a 2-1/2″ Circle Punch to punch out the image and adhere with Dimensionals.
  • Thank you is stamped with Baked Brown Sugar ink on Very Vanilla cardstock.

Nature’s Hello

 Nature's Hello flower

Remember THIS CARD from a few days ago?  I've used the same sketch to create the card today – isn't it funny how different two cards can look even when they begin basically the same?!

  • Nature's Hello is one of my favorite hostess-exclusive stamp sets ever!  I love the images, and it coordinates with both the Secret Garden and the Backyard Basics Framelits
  • I've used a fresh, modern color scheme of Smokey Slate, Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango, Basic Black and Whisper White.
  • Corner rounding is the name of the game on this card – I used the Envelope Punch Board, my favorite new corner rounder!  Spend just $19.95 to get a two-in-one tool!
  • I punched into the Smokey Slate cardstock background before adhering it to the Whisper White card base.
  • The Bermuda Bay cardstock took a ride through the Big Shot with the Arrow Embossing Folder before I adhered it to the front.
  • I used a strip of Basic Black Designer Series Paper across my card, but you could substitute that with a strip of ribbon or washi tape.
  • I love Stampin' Up!'s Silver Buttons – they lay nice and flat for easy mailing.  I ran a piece of 1/8" Basic Black Taffeta Ribbon through the center holes and adhered it with a Glue Dot.
  • The main image is stamped on Whisper White cardstock with Tangerine Tango ink then cut out with a Secret Garden framelit.
  • Three Basic Black Candy Dots create a pretty center for the flower.

Retro Fresh Thank You

Retro Thank You

I'm having so much fun with Stampin' Up!'s Circle Mongram Stamps.  Create address labels, a stamp for the back of your handmade cards, personalize gifts and goodies and more!  They're easy to design – I've made and ordered three so far.  This one is for creating thank you cards and stamping on the envelopes as well.

My card started with a fun sketch from one of my team members.  We have a weekly sketch challenge on our Team Facebook page, and this is the one posted for last week:

CASE of the Mondays 5-001

It's the first place I start when designing a card – I've just got to have a good sketch!   See how easy it is to just plug in your images and supplies!

  • This layout drew me to the Retro Fresh This and That Washi Tape.  It almost looks just like it!  That built the basis for my color scheme, but I did decide to soften the look by using Pool Party cardstock and ink.  It matches and is a little softer look.
  • Next element was that I wanted to show off my  new personalized Circle Monogram Stamp.  I've already ordered three different ones – they're really addicting!  And they're so easy to create!  Just enter the item code 132852 in my online store and up pops a screen where you can design what you want in the different locations on the stamp.  Choose to create a personalized stamp for the backs of your cards, an address stamp or whatever you can think of!  I've done a "hand cancel" stamp for my precious hand-stamped cards.  I've also designed one to congratulate my team members for their achievements.
  • Gorgeous Grunge seems to be my "go to" stamp set these days when I need a little something extra on my card.  Here are all the wonderful images you get in this set.

gorgeous grunge

  • Lots of Stampin' Up! circle punches made this card a snap!  My favorite corner rounder of all time is the one built into the Envelope Punch Board – two tools for the price of one!
  • A cute Naturals Button and some Linen Thread complete my quick and easy card.

Another Great Year with Flowers

another great year floral

Once again, Stampin' Up!'s beautiful designer papers have come to the rescue with a beautiful color palette for my card today.  I've used a piece of designer paper from the Birthday Basics collection, then set about to make some flowers in Summer Starfruit, Crisp Cantaloupe, Raspberry Ripple, Island Indigo and Gumball Green.

Another Great Year is a super fun birthday stamp set from the Stampin' Up! 2014 Occasions Catalog  There are so many components that I'm sure I'll be showing you what else you can do with this set in another post.  Here, I've just used one of the sentiment stamps and stamped it in Basic Gray ink.  Here are all of the images you'll receive when you order Another Great Year:
another great year

I let the flowers on this card do the "wow" work.  Flowers are punched with the Pansy Punch and the Petite Petals Punch (which I'm afraid is on backorder right now), and the greenery is cut out with the Big Shot and the Secret Garden FramelitsXL Rhinestones set off the centers.

Simply Celebrate and Final SAB Card

Simply Celebrate and SAB 2104

This will be my final post of ideas using Sale-A-Bration free gift items!  I'm kinda sad to see the end of using these products.  I've enjoyed them so much this year!  Today's the LAST day for free products in this brochure!

  • There are several Sale-A-bration items in this one card – Sweet Sorbet Desginer Paper, Sweet Sorbet Accesories pack, Banner Punch and Petal Parade stamp set!
  • The pretty color combo comes straight from the designer paper – Basic Black, Crisp Cantaloupe, istachio Pudding, Pool Party, Summer Starfruit and Whisper White.
  • A wonderfully useful stamp set in the 2014 Occasions Catalog is Simply Celebrate – I've used the "enjoy" from that set to make this card.

So Grateful Birthday

grateful birthday
I had a slew of birthday cards to send this month, so I made a large group of this pretty card featuring So Very Grateful stamp set.  It was super easy putting it together when you have pretty designer paper like Sweet Sorbet Sale-A-Bration paper to use!  Color scheme is all set for you – Basic Black, Crisp Cantaloupe, Pistachio Pudding, Pool Party and Summer Starfruit – yum!

  • So Very Grateful has several coordinating images.  I stamped the tone-on-tone flower image with one stamp then used the larger stamp to create the main image using VersaMark Ink, Black Embossing Powder and heat setting it with my Heat Tool.
  • Watercoloring is a snap with the Aqua Painter and stamp pads.  I love watercoloring inside heat-embossed images.  It's kinda like embroidering or cross-stitching when you add the black around the image and it comes to life!
  • My very favorite corner rounder?  The Envelope Punch Board!
  • The black zig-zag edge is from the Tasteful Trim Bigz Die – I use this all the time!  (If you follow my blog you know what I mean!)
  • "Happy Birthday" is from a hostess-exclusive stamp set called Express Yourself.  And what better month to host a workshop than March – earn $30 more hostess dollars with a workshop over $300!  Or get together a few friends and host your own online workshop to qualify.
  • A Black Candy Dot is my only embellishment so as not to detract from the embossed and watercolored flowers.

Feel Better with Petite Petals

petite petals bundle

I'm really trying to "Think Spring" today, but it's a bit difficult when it's STILL in the 20's and it's snowing this morning!  But I have a springy get well card for you that's sure to put a smile on the person receiving it!

  • Haven't had a chance to purchase the new Hardwood background stamp from the Occasions Catalog.  It's actually on its way, but for now I'll use my older Woodgrain background stamp to stamp the Baked Brown Sugar square cardstock for the background.
  • Punches and Big Shot dies take center stage on this quick and easy card.  I've used the Petite Petals stamp and coordinating Petite Petals Punch to create the Strawberry Slush flowers.  Buy these two new products in a bundle and save 15%!
  • I used Old Olive cardstock and the Bird Punch to create the branch, and Beautiful Wings Embosslit to make the butterfly.
  • Pearls are the only accent to keep this card nice and simple.
  • "Feel Better Soon" is one of the beautiful stamps contained in the hostess-exclusive stamp set called Express Yourself.  It's yours free (plus more!) when your workshop totals at least $150 or if you place your own order for that amount.

Live Simply

live simply

My apologies that my website was down this morning.  My webhost was doing an upgrade so that everything would run smoothly!  We're back up and running, and I hope you enjoy today's simple card, perfect for Sunday afternoon.

  • I've used the single stamp set called People Like You.  I do love the sentiment on that stamp, but I wanted to show you that you can replace that with any other sentiment that fits into the Stampin' Up! Decorative Label Punch.  Here I've chose a stamp from Trust God stamp set.  I love this sentiment, and since it begins by saying "live simply," I chose to create a super simple card.
  • Colors are Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White.  I stamped tone-on-tone the image on Calypso Coral cardstock, then stamped again on Whisper White cardstock and punched out the sentiment and popped it up on Dimensionals.
  • The pretty white edge is created with the Scallop Trim Border Punch and Whisper White cardstock.
  • Linen Thread wrapped three times around is a clean embellishment.
