Father’s Day using Guy Greetings

Father's Day Guy Greetings

Need a quick Father’s Day card that makes a statement?  Look no further than your cardstock scraps!  Use any color scheme you want and add this great sentiment from Guy Greetings stamp set from Stampin’ Up!

  • A super great thing about this particular stamp set is that you can choose the type of stamp set YOU like best!  It comes in clear mount, photopolymer and wood mount!
  • I chose Night of Navy, Crushed Curry and Cajun Craze for my “guy” color scheme.  I love these bold colors together!
  • I varied the width of the cardstock to create a great striped look.  Measurements are:
  1. Night of Navy – 1″
  2. Cajun Craze – 3/4″
  3. Crushed Curry – 1/2″
  • Simply put SNAIL Adhesive on each strip, then mount to a 5-1/4″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White cardstock that will act as a base to which you can adhere all of the strips.  Trim the excess edges and adhere that unit to your card base measuring 5-1/2″ x 8-1/2″.
  • My sentiment is stamped in Cajun Craze ink.  It’s a terrific font that comes from Guy Greetings and includes lots of other very usable sentiments.  You’ll have everything covered for all the men in your life with this one set.  Just look!

  • A piece of Crushed Curry and Whisper White Baker’s Twine is all you need to complete this smart and sophisticated look!

Guy Greetings and Hats Off

S&C1

It’s that time of year again!  Time to think about the men in our lives and get ready for Father’s Day in June.  And Stampin’ Up! has released two perfect products for masculine cards – both in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.

  • Our designer paper and color scheme come from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack.  This beautiful paper has lots of plaids and neutrals on one side and real-life nature elements on the other.  This piece is Island Indigo, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate.
  • I used the Oval Framelits to cut Whisper White cardstock for the main image and a border of Basic Black cardstock.  The Whisper White cardstock is offstamped using Smoky Slate ink and the Dictionary background stamp.  Just ink up your stamp with Smoky Slate ink, stamp onto a scrap piece of paper then onto your oval so that the ink is light and it creates a background for the hats.
  • This fun stamp set is called Guy Greetings.  If you’re going to purchase just one stamp set for all the guys in your life, this is the one.  It comes complete with lots and lots of sentiments and some really great old-fashioned images.  And good news – you can choose between all three stamp types for this set.  Choose wood mount, clear mount or photopolymer!  Here I stamped the hats image and sentiment in Black Memento Ink.
  • I used my Stampin’ Pierce Mat and Paper-Piercing Tool to set the Silver Brads.  You can’t see it very well in the photo, but the black oval is paper pierced as well using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Template.  This great product is on the retiring products list, so be sure to grab yours before it’s gone!

Guest Designer Teresa Chavez

Teresa Chavez card copy

Today I want to share with you a super masculine card from one of my team members, Teresa Chavez.  I absolutely love her clever use of the Hexagon Punch to make hardware!  And using Stampin’ Up! grid paper for the front of the card – fantastic idea!  And the Epic Day Washi Tape looks like fancy masking tape!

Teresa says, “I punched the circle first then lined up the hexagon punch. I put shapes face down on silver stamp pad, tapped on it a few times then picked it off and adhered it to the card.  I saw the original idea in a Papercrafts magazine but the card design and inking is my own.”

Item No. 130919 Hexagon Punch $15.05
Item No. 119873 3/4″ Circle Punch $12.95
Item No. 130148 Grid Paper (100 sheets) $10.85
Item No. 132142 Silver Metallic Encore Ink $9.95
Item No. 131269 Epic Day This and That Designer Washi Tape $4.95

Rev Up The Fun Birthday

Harley

Took a break away from most of the Occasions Catalog today to create something from the "old" part of my stampin' shelf!  Rev Up The Fun is certainly one of my favorite masculine stamp sets.  My husband and I own a Harley Road King Classic, and I knew I just had to have this stamp set for his birthday cards!  And of course, I had to keep it in "Harley colors" – Tangerine Tango, Basic Black, Whisper White and Silver.

  • Remember my card yesterday?  I've used the same sketch challenge only turned it on its side!
  • My favorite part of this card is using the Big Shot along with the new Arrows Embossing Folder with the Silver Foil paper.  I thought it looked like tire tracks!  It's really fun to emboss the foil papers – they take such a deeply etched image and look so great!  A 1/2" sliver of the same foil paper acts as "ribbon" through the tag for a more masculine look.  I also dyed White Baker's Twine black by running it through a Basic Black ink pad and made a reinforcement ring around the hole in the tag using Basic Black cardstock and circle punches.

  • There's also heat embossing on my card – the bike is heat embossed using Black Embossing Powder, and the sentiment is done using Silver Embossing Powder.  Don't forget your Embossing Buddy to keep unwanted speckles of powder off your cardstock.
  • I used a touch of Tangerine Tango marker to color in the bike just a bit.

High Tide Best Mate

 best mate

This card is so easy with the help of the terrific designer paper prints found in High Tide Designer Series Paper and the coordinating stamp set Hello, Sailor.

  • Double matting this pretty paper with a Pacific Point card base and a small frame of Summer Starfruit cardstock really makes the designer paper stand out.
  • The beautifully coordinating Pacific Point Striped Grosgrain Ribbon is the perfect accent.
  • I love our ability to create wonderful framed images using the layering of the Deco Label Framelits.

  • I also used a couple of Silver Mini Brads on the sides of the sentiment.

This card would be perfect for your "best mate" for a birthday, anniversary, or just because!

Seriously?

 seriously

Do you recognize this card layout?  It's the same layout I used in my previous post!  You'll get a completely different look to your card by using the same layout but changing stamps and papers.

  • For this card, I've begun with the I Am Me Designer Paper and the color scheme of Basic Gray, Real Red, So Saffron, Tangerine Tango and Pool Party.
  • I love the coordination of Just Sayin' stamp set and the Word Bubble Framelits – so trendy!
  • Tangerine Tango cardstock is punched with the Scallop Edge Border for some nice interest.
  • How fun are the Wooden Elements!  They're such a fun addition to our card making.
  • Wonder where I got the cool "seriously" stamp?  It came with one of my Paper Pumpkin subscription kits!  And you can get great new stamps like this one by becoming a Paper Pumpkin customer.  During March, receive a free set of In Color markers, too!  Click HERE to read all about Paper Pumpkin and subscribe.

  • Use a coordinating Tangerine Tango Candy Dot from the Brights Collection Dots to accent your arrow.
  • Basic Gray Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon is the perfect ribbon accent for this card.  Use this card for guys or gals!

This fresh nautical look is perfect for the men in our lives!  And this suite is all about perfect coordination – stamp set, designer paper and ribbon.  It's also a chance to bring in the new Chevron Punch for some added accents.

  • I paper pierce every chance I get.  It adds so much and once you've purchased the piercer, mat and templates, nothing is "consumed" so you'll have those tools forever!
  • And nothing says nautical like this pretty Pacific Point Striped Ribbon.
  • A new Silver Button with White Baker's Twine makes a nice accessory combo.

Dog Talk!

Dog Talk 2

Who says Christmas designer paper has to be used just for Christmas?  I designed this cute birthday card around the Season of Style Designer Series Paper.  Choose either the Paper Stack – 48 sheets, 24 each of 2 double-sided designs, 4-1/2"x6-1/2" OR the traditional 12"x12" Designer Series Paper, including 12 sheets, 2 each of 6 double-sided designs.

  • I love the Animal Talk stamp set – 4 different images and coordinating sentiments makes this a really versatile set.
  • Was it too much of a stretch?  I used the Crumb Cake and White polka dot paper from the Season of Style pack to replicate the cute little dog – stamped on Crumb Cake cardstock and spots colored in with White Gel Pen.
  • Actually, the main image got a little boost by stamping with VersaMark ink, pouring on some Early Espresso Embossing Powder and heat setting with the Heat Tool.  That made a nice little "home" for the white gel pen to be applied.
  • The lower line of text was simply stamped with Early Espresso Ink.
  • I found the Island Indigo and White plaid paper in the Soho Subway Designer Series Paper pack.  Just right for this card!
  • All that was left was to give this card a little accent with White Baker's Twine.
  • For those of you looking for masculine card ideas, this would be perfect!

It’s a Joy Ride with Harley!

Joy Ride

My husband and I own a Harley and have spent many wonderful times touring together.  So this stamp set, "Rev Up the Fun!" really called to me!  I know I'll use it for hubby's birthday card this year!  And of course, I had to use the Harley-Davidson color combo – Basic Black and Pumpkin PIe – with some metal and leather thrown in!

  • I achieved the "metal" look using a piece of Brushed Silver cardstock and running it through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Embossing Folder.
  • It's hard to photograph, but the "leather/suede" look is created by distressing a piece of Basic Black cardstock with a Bone Folder until the cardstock separates.  Then just pull them apart and use the "inside" of the cardstock face up.
  • After stamping the bike image, I used my Paper-Piercing Tool and Stampin' Pierce Mat to attach Silver Mini Brads to the wheels.  I also set a row of 5 Brads down the side of the faux leather cardstock.
