I Want My Mummy!

Here's a card we made at our last team get together; it was designed by Christine Luce.  I love that Christine used the large Scallop Square Bigz Clear die to create the base for this card.  Cut just one layer of Basic Gray card stock with the die then cut a 3-7/8" x 7-3/4" piece of Whisper White card stock to act as the card opening.  The top of the card gets a piece of Basic Gray card stock cut at just a smidge shy of 4" square.

Decorate the front of the card using the following items:

  • Emboss the top Basic Gray card stock with the Perfect Polka Dots Embossing Folder then die cut a Labels Collection Framelits in the center.
  • Googly Ghouls stamp set stamps the cute mummy.
  • His green heart comes from the Owl Builder Punch.
  • Sentiment is from Teeny Tiny Wishes.
  • Don't forget a Googlie for his eye.
  • Designer paper comes from Polka Dot Parade DSP pack.

Here's how it looks when you open it – so cute!

Don't forget — Today's the last day!

Spooky Witch’s Hat

When the directions came out at Splitcoast for this cute project, I knew I just had to dig in and make it.  After going to several different stores, I finally found the styrofoam cone I needed for the top of the hat.  All tolled, it only took me about 4 hrs. to make – good grief!  But it was such a fun project, it was worth it.

  • I traced a 9" plate to make the bottom of the hat.  Both the bottom and top papers come from Howlstooth & Scaringbone Designer Paper.
  • I wrapped the designer paper around the styrofoam cone and adhered it to itself with Multipurpose Liquid Glue.  In fact, all the adhering was done with this terrific glue and it held beautifully.
  • I punched various circles from Rich Razzleberry and Lucky Limeade card stocks to add to the top of the hat.
  • The Lucky Limeade card stock ruffle was created using 3 strips of 2" x 10" card stock and scoring every 1/2" with the Simply Scored Tool.  I used Sticky Strip all along the edge then poured on Dazzling Diamonds Glitter.

Here's a close-up of the front of the hat.

  • The witch is stamped in VersaMark Black Ink from the Googly Ghouls stamp set then I added a couple of touches with markers.  Oh my gosh – I just realized I didn't put her googly eyes on!  And she's no longer at my home to take another picture!  Well, you can just imagine how cute she would be with our new Googlies!
  • I popped the witch into a Flourish Designer Frame to look a bit like the buckle on the hat.
  • Stampin' Up! has a beautiful choice of ribbons, and I was able to pick up each color in the hat – Lucky LImeade Ruffled Ribbon, Pumpkin Pie 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon, Rich Razzleberry 1/4" Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon and 1/2" Striped Satin Ribbon.

And here's a picture with the hat tipped a bit so you can see how I finished off the top.  I just worked the designer paper into a little sideways bend for an authentic witch's hat look.  It made it so much easier than trying to finish off the top perfectly.

Happy Halloween!

Today's Halloween, and I could have sworn I had already shared this cute treat container with you!  But in looking back I found I hadn't!  So I'm going to post two different Halloween ideas for you today, in case you're scrambling to get ready for tonight's festivities.

This treat container was featured in our demonstrator magazine Stampin' Success, changed up a bit to suit my supplies.  I began with Basic Black card stock, rolled it in a cylinder and adhered both the side and the ends with Sticky Strip.  Before adhering the bottom, however, I punched a hole, slid in a Window Sheet and filled it with candy.  Rhinestones surround the opening for a fun effect.  I used Peach Parfait rather than Pumpkin Pie so that I could use some of our fun Peach Parfait 1/2" Stitched Poly Ribbon for the top.  The zig-zag piece comes from the Tasteful Trim Die and the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine.  The stripes on top and bottom are Whisper White card stock stamped with Solid Stripes stamp; top one every other stripe is colored in with a Basic Black Stampin' Write Marker.  Main image is from Got Treats stamp set and colored direct to rubber using Stampin' Write Markers, then punched out with the Decorative Label Punch and tied on with some White Baker's Twine.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
Item No. 119264 Peach Parfait 1/2" Stitched Poly Ribbon $8.95
Item No. 119246 Jewels Basic Rhinestones $4.95
Item No. 114323 Window Sheets $4.95
Item No. 115707 Solid Stripes stamp $9.95
Item No. 120893 Tasteful Trim Die $42.95
Item No. 119114 Got Treats stamp set wood $24.95 OR
Item No. 120627 Got Treats stamp set clear $17.95
Item No. 104294 Sticky Strip $6.95
Item No. 120907 Decorative Label Punch $16.95
Item No. 124262 White Baker's Twine $2.95

Here are the Halloween bags I made my 3 grandsons for trick or treating tonight.  I simply bought orange gift bags, made a personalized tag and tied them on.

Here's how the whole gift bag looks.

And here's a close-up of the tag.  It begins with Sweet Centers stamp set stamped in Lucky Limeade Classic Ink.  I punched the center hole out with the 1-3/4" Circle Punch.  The Circle Treat Cup is filled with Pumpkin Pie card stock punched with the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack circle punch.  Do they look at all like little bitty pumpkins?  That's what I was going for!  I fed Whisper White card stock through my printer and simply typed each boy's name, printed it out and adhered it to the Basic Black rectangle. The Crop-A-Dile punched the hole in the top and I fed through both Basic Black 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon and Lucky Limeade 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon through to tie.  Now I'd better get ready for the party!  Have a spooky night!

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
Item No. 116521 Sweet Centers $29.95
Item No. 119850 1-3/4" Circle Punch $16.95
Item No. 118309 Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack $16.95
Item No. 108362 Crop-A-Dile $29.95
Item No. 115615 Basic Black 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon
Item No. 122977 Lucky Limeade 3/8" Ruffled Ribbon $9.95
Item No. 116802 Circle Treat Cups (12) $2.95

Cute little Halloween owl

I just LOVE this darling little owl; he's part of a terrific hostess-exclusive stamp set in the Holiday Mini Catalog called Warmest of Wishes.  Four of the 5 images in this great set line up with Stampin' Up! punches to make them so quick and easy to use!  Color scheme is Wisteria Wonder, Calypso Coral, Lucky Limeade and Basic Black.  This card measures 3"x6" and is 1/4 of a 12"x12" piece of card stock.  The owl is stamped once in Calypso Coral and punched out with the Owl Builder Punch and again in Basic Black and Lucky Limeade with those parts cut out with Paper Snips.  The sentiment is from Delightful Dozen stamp set, and I used Stampin' Write Markers direct to rubber.  I used some gorgeous Ruffled Ribbon fastened with a Designer Printed Brad, both in Calypso Coral, for some pop, and the Tasteful Trim Die and Big Shot quickly cut out the scallops.  Wisteria Wonder Designer Paper is from Berry Blossoms Designer Series Paper pack.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
Item No. 122670 Warmest of Wishes wood $13 Hostess Dollars OR
Item No. 122672 Warmest of Wishes clear $10 Hostess Dollars

Cute Little Witch

Here's another card using Greeting Card Kids for Halloween; my first one is HERE.  You can see that this cute little witch looks great either colored in or not!  On this particular card, I used Watercolor Paper along with Stampin' Write Markers and an Aqua Painter — simply add just a bit of color from the markers and blend.  This is my favorite technique for getting a nice shaded image.  Just don't forget to use a Jet Black StazOn Ink Pad to stamp your image – any other ink will run when moistened with the Aqua Painter.  The sentiment is from Grateful Greetings and I used those same markers direct to the stamp to get a multi-colored greeting.  The bats in the corner are from Wicked Cool.  There are so many fun new accessories in the Holiday Mini Catalog!  I love the new Raven 1/2" Lace Trim that I tied around a piece of designer paper from the Wicked Fun Specialty Designer Series Paper pack.  The circle motif has Waffle Paper around the edges of the punched out circles and a Black Glimmer Brad in the center.  My color scheme is Old Olive, Rich Razzleberry, Cajun Craze and Basic Black.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
Item No. 119887 Greeting Card Kids wood mount $20.95 OR
Item No. 120633 Greeting Card Kids clear mount $15.95
Item No. 116511 Grateful Greetings $36.96

Scary Scull

If you like really scary images for Halloween, the From the Crypt stamp set is for you!  I stepped up the spookiness by adding green Rhinestone Brads to the eyes.  I combined papers from two different packs – the Rich Razzleberry and Basic Black stripe is from Wicked Fun and the Old Olive and Basic Black "words" is from Nite Owl (by the way, it's Edgar Allen Poe's famous poem to add even more scariness!)  "Spooky" is stamped from Wicked Cool stamp set on Old Olive card stock then punched with the Oval Punch and set off with a Rhinestone from Jewels Basic Rhinestones.  The background uses the Big Shot and Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
Item No. 115460 From the Crypt $22.95
Item No. 118738 Wicked Cool stamp set wood $19.95 OR
Item No. 120600 Wicked Cool stamp set clear $14.95
Item No. 109111 Circle Ice Rhinestone Brads $10.95
Item No. 117400 Wicked Fun Specialty Designer Series Paper $11.95
Item No. 123012 Nite Owl Designer Series Paper $9.95
Item No. 119246 Jewels Basic Rhinestones (150) $4.95
Item No. 113439 Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine $99.95
Item No. 120175 Vintage Wallpaper Textured Impressions Embossing Folder $7.95
Item No. 119859 2"x1-3/8" Oval Punch $16.95
