People Like You and Perfect Pennants

People Like You and Perfect Pennants

People Like You is a single stamp from the Stampin' Up! 2014 Occasions Catalog.  It's such a beautiful image!  And although the sentiment is a wonderful one, you can replace it with anything you'd like just by using the Decorative Label Punch that lines up with the stamp.  I've also created THIS CARD the same way.

  • Colors are Pear Pizzazz, Chocolate Chip and Strawberry Slush
  • There's a touch of giltter in the centers of the flowers using Dazzling Details and 2-Way Glue Pen.
  • I sponged around the edges of the sentiment from Perfect Pennants with Pear Pizzazz ink so that it would stand out a bit better and coordinate with the stem then popped it up on Dimensionals.
  • Corner rounding has never been easier with the Envelope Punch Board – a perfect 2-in-1 tool investment!
  • Three Chocolate Chip Candy Dots from the Neutrals Collection complete this simple card.

Live Simply

live simply

My apologies that my website was down this morning.  My webhost was doing an upgrade so that everything would run smoothly!  We're back up and running, and I hope you enjoy today's simple card, perfect for Sunday afternoon.

  • I've used the single stamp set called People Like You.  I do love the sentiment on that stamp, but I wanted to show you that you can replace that with any other sentiment that fits into the Stampin' Up! Decorative Label Punch.  Here I've chose a stamp from Trust God stamp set.  I love this sentiment, and since it begins by saying "live simply," I chose to create a super simple card.
  • Colors are Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz and Whisper White.  I stamped tone-on-tone the image on Calypso Coral cardstock, then stamped again on Whisper White cardstock and punched out the sentiment and popped it up on Dimensionals.
  • The pretty white edge is created with the Scallop Trim Border Punch and Whisper White cardstock.
  • Linen Thread wrapped three times around is a clean embellishment.

Live Happy

 Mary's birthday

I can't imagine a more wonderful thing to say to someone – "Live Happy".  Doesn't that sum it all up?  I made this card for my precious sister for her birthday, and really, that's the best thing you could wish someone!

Today's card features a very pretty Sale-A-Bration stamp set called You're Lovely.  And this stamp set can be yours FREE with a $50 purchase this month only!

  • Basic Black, Coastal Cabana and Strawberry Slush make an impressive color scheme!
  • There are actually three stamps used from the You're Lovely set – the main image is one stamp, "live happy" is another and then the tone-on tone stamping on the Strawberry Slush cardstock is a third.
  • Using my clear-mount stamps, it was easy to space the stamp perfectly in rows.  I just lined up the edge of my block with the edge of the preceding image.
  • You're Lovely coordinates with our Deco Label Framelits for easy cutting out.
  • The In Color Designer Series Paper Stack is perfect for this card – lots of fun, bold designs in all 5 colors!
  • Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon and a few Black Candy Dots accent this card nicely.

“Tweet” Animal Talk

Today I thought I'd combine a couple of older products with newer ones.  I find when you do this, you get such a different look!  I noticed I hadn't used my Natural Composition Designer Paper in a while, and when I saw this terrific woodgrain piece, I knew I had to pair it with something springy.  Here in Centeral New York, it's 5 degrees as I type this and we just got quite a bit more snow overnight, so I'm really trying to think Spring!

  • Color is such an interesting thing!  In fact, it's really what brought me to stamping.  I just love the interplay of colors and how some "work" and some don't.  I started this card with Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight and it just wasn't right.  Switched it up to Soft Sky and Summer Starfruit and voila – the perfect feel!
  • Corner rounding has always been one of my favorite accents, and now with the help of the Envelope Punch Board, I have perfectly rounded corners every time.  At just $19.95, this is going to be your "go to" tool – for something as basic as corner rounding and for making all sorts of coordinating envelopes for your beautiful cards.
  • The main image stamp is from Animal Talk stamp set, and I've used markers to ink up the image and stamp on a Whisper White cardstock circle cut with the Circle Framelits.  This wonderful collection of circles is also a real must in your collection.  With 10 different layering pieces, you're sure to have just the right size.  Be sure to grab Dimensionals for your circle to give it a little lift.
  • The Natural Chevron Ribbon is the perfect embellishment for this card – nice and natural to go with our bird theme.
  • Don't know what I'm going to do without Summer Starfruit come June when it retires!  It's been the missing color in our palette for me!  I do hope it returns one day, but for now, I'm using it as much as I can!  Here I've used the new Petite Petals Punch along with a Dahlia to create the floral accent.  Glue Dots are the best way to adhere the Dahlias to cardstock.
  • In Color Dahlias are on the Weekly Deals – but hurry; they're only on sale today, along with the Summer Starfruit Ribbon!

Bright and Happy

 hey there

A simple backdrop of black and white sets off these pretty little lanterns from Happy Congratulations stamp set.  I used scraps of my Brights Designer Series Paper Stack along with the smallest circle fromthe Cirlce Framelits set to cut out one of every color in the Brights CollectionDimensionals are a must on this card – they bring the lanterns to life!

I love the sweet sentiment and great font of "hey there friend".  But it's not in any of our catalogs!  It came from the Welcome Kit for Paper Pumpkin!  And if you haven't already subscribed to this fantastic card kit, now's the time!  You'll receive a FREE set of Stampin' Write Markers along with your first Paper Pumpkin kit.  Read all about Paper Pumpkin HERE.

Buttercup Geometrical

buttercup final 3

Do you remember when Stampin' Up! carried 3"x6" envelopes?  I really loved that size of card for so many layouts.  Now that we have the Envelope Punch Board, we can have any size envelope we want!  So I'm back to designing a 3"x6" card and lovin' every minute of it!

  • Color scheme is Elegant Eggplant, Rich Razzleberry, Wisteria Wonder and Pistachio Pudding.
  • You're going to love using the Geometrical stamp set with coordinating Triangle Punch!  Bundle and save 15%!
  • I've stamped the various triangle images in the Geometrical stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock for the background strip, then stamped a few on a scrap piece and punched them out with the new Triangle Punch Dimensionals raise up 3 of the triangles.  This was my final touch to the card, and it really made a huge difference!
  • I arranged the three Candy Dots in the bottom corner iin the shape of a triangle in keeping with the theme.

Buttercup final 1
Stamping on the envelope ties in nicely with the card!

When you make your 3"x6" envelope, you'll have a large flap at the back.  Simply cut it off so it doesn't hang below the bottom of the envelope when sealed.  I like using Multipurpose Liquid Glue to assemble the envelope.

Etcetera Vases

Etcetera Vases

Vivid Vases is one of the hottest new stamps from the Occasions Catalog.  There are so many possibilities with this great single stamp.  I've used Vivid Vaces on a previous post, too, but with watercoloring the vases.  And today is the LAST CHANCE to purchase this week's Weekly Deals.  Since the Etcetera Designer Paper is on sale I decided to use it to create this card.

  • I've stamped the main image on Very Vanilla cardstock and then again on each of 5 different prints from the Etcetera Designer Paper packet.  You'll want Stampin' Up! Paper Snips to easily cut out each vase.  Three of the vases are popped up on Dimensionals, and two are adhered flat with SNAIL Adhesive.
  • The Etcetera Designer Paper lends a pretty, unique color combination – Night of Navy, Calypso Coral, Old Olive and Pool Party.
  • I used Stampin' Write Markers in the same colors to color in the flowers in a snap.
  • Petite Petals Punch combines with the small circle punch from the Punch Pack to create the little accent in the corner.
  • I've used a Candy Dot Brad Base and a Night of Navy Candy Dot from the Regals Collection in the center of the flower.

Vivid Vases

You're going to love Vivid Vases, a brand new single stamp featured in our 2014 Occasions Catalog!  And there are several other brand new products featured in this card, too!

  • I'm loving the soft colors of Watercolor Wonder Designer Paper; I used the Island Indigo zig-zag paper here.
  • Make way for one of your soon-to-be favorite embossing folders – the Scallops Folder!
  • I used two pretty fibers on this card – the Island Indigo Baker's Twine and the Calypso Coral 3/4" Chevron Ribbon, which is held in place with  a Hardware Clip.  Don't like the image on the clip?  (This one was the "&" symbol.)  Then just put that to the back.  You still get the cute metal clip on the front and a place to tie your ribbon.
  • I added a strip of Garden Green cardstock run through the Big Shot with the Tasteful Trim Bigz XL Die to coordinate with the Garden Green leaves and stems in the flowers.

vases main image

These sweet little flower vases are the perfect stamp to try your hand at watercoloring.  Remember to stamp in Black StazOn Ink, then use your Aqua Painter and stamp pads to do the rest.  I used Pool Party ink for the "watery" look in the vases.  To get the shading, just go over the entire vase lightly with Pool Party, let dry, then apply more ink in the shaded areas.  I like using Naturals White Cardstock because it absorbs the water much better than our Whisper White and Very Vanilla cardstocks.  Of course, you can also use Watercolor Paper for optimal results.

You’re the Best and Weekly Deals

youre the best

The bright, fun colors of the new Kaleidoscope Designer Paper is certain to get your attention!  Summer Starfruit, Bermuda Bay, Strawberry Slush, Smoky Slate and Basic Black is the color palette.  And the Just Sayin' stamp set has the perfect, modern feel – another new addition from the 2014 Occasions Catalog.  Stamped in StazOn Black Ink, I've colored in the circles with Stampin' Write Markers to coordinate.

  • Set off the triangle-themed Kaleidoscope paper with a strip of Summer Starfruit cardstock run through the Big Shot using the Tasteful Trim Bigz Die.
  • Oval Framelits cut out the main image as well as the Strawberry Slush cardstock border.
  • Grab your Occasions Paper-Piercing Pack to paper pierce neatly around the edge.
  • I've punched out Basic Black cardstock with the 1/2" Circle Punch, adhered it to the oval and used my Paper-Piercing Tool to make a hole for the Silver Glimmer Brad.
  • Making a cute accent to the oval is a snap – punch a hole and thread Summer Starfruit and Bermuda Bay ribbons through, and tie in place with a piece of Silver Ribbon.

The Best Things

Here's a really cute and easy card that sorta happened by accident.  I was cutting for my prayer journal class and just quickly grabbed a piece of Calypso Coral cardstock, which I thought was a scrap, to cut out a flower from the Floral Frames Framelits.  After I cut it, I realized it was a full card base that I had just wasted!  No worries – I decided to turn it into a card.

I added some Calypso Coral Designer Series Paper to the inside of the card so that it peeks out then stamped the sentiment from Feel Goods stamp set in VersaMark Ink and heat embossed with Black Embossing Powder

My card was oriented the wrong direction to tie the ribbon around the side so I just made a slit in the top with an Exacto Knife and slid the ribbons through.  They're Calypso Coral 3/4" Chevron Ribbon and Basic Black 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon.

Here's a photo so you can get the idea of the peek-a-boo front.
