Easter Egg with Sale-A-Bration Glitter Tape and Washi Tape

EasterEggfullcard

I had so much fun creating the card I’m sharing today.  Combining the Metallics Glitter Tape (a free gift during Stampin’ Up!’s Sale-A-Bration) and Washi Tapes to make this Easter egg is so easy, especially if you follow my easy directions below.

EasterEgg1

Begin with two pieces of Whisper White Cardstock.  The one we’re going to cut with the Oval Framelit measures 5-1/4″ x 4″, then use the Corner Rounder on all four corners.  This piece will be our frame.  The second piece of cardstock measures 5″ x 3-3/4″ and will act as our working surface to create the egg.

EasterEgg2

On our working surface piece of cardstock, draw the oval using the same framelit that you cut out the frame cardstock with.

EasterEgg3

Begin using your Glitter and Washi Tapes to fill in the oval.  You could also do this with strips of designer series paper, although having the adhesive already on the washi tape makes it go more quickly.  For my egg, I used the Cherry on Top Washi Tape and the In Color Washi Tape that is a host-exclusive gift in the 2016 Occasions Catalog, in addition to the Glimmer Tape from Sale-A-Bration.

EasterEgg4

Adhere your frame cardstock over top of the working surface cardstock and you’re ready to continue to decorate your card!

EasterEggCloseup

  • The “happy easter” sentiment is easy to separate from the image in the Easter Lamb stamp.  Just use a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker to color over the words then stamp onto your Whisper White Cardstock.
  • The Rose Garden Thinlits Dies contain a frame that I used to cut out the sentiment, as well as the leaves that were cut out from Cucumber Crush Cardstock.  Be sure to have your Fine-Tip Glue Pen handy for the leaves!
  • I made the flower by cutting 6 layers of Watermelon Wonder Cotton Paper with the smallest of the Floral Frames Dies.  Cut all 6 at the same time, then hold them together as you remove them from the thinlit.  Using a Paper-Piercing Tool and Stampin’ Pierce Mat, poke a hole in the center and slide in a Mini Silver Brad.  Begin in the center and smoosh the first layer of the flower in tight so it creates a knot in the center.  Then smoosh in the other layers working from the center out, gradually smooshing less.  (Yes, “smooshing” is a technical crafting term – LOL!)

Happy Easter!

Easter Love is Kindness

Wishing all my readers a very Happy Easter!  I hope you’re able to spend some meaningful time with friends and family celebrating today.

I grew up in a tiny New York State town – population about 600! – and most people were Dutch.  We had a tulip festival every year, decorating floats and crowing the tulip queen.  Beds of tulips bloomed in the center of town.  It’s always been a big part of my childhood memories, so when Stampin’ Up! came out with Love is Kindness single stamp with the beautiful tulip bouquet, I knew I just had to have it.  But I wanted to have the capability to use it without the sentiment.  This layout – cropping the image out with a Circle Framelit and Big Shot – helped solve that problem easily.

  • I took my color scheme from Painted Blooms Designer Paper, using Soft Sky, Wild Wasabi, Rose Red, Blackberry Bliss and Daffodil Delight, and I used the Wild Wasabi striped piece for the banner.
  • A piece of Wild Wasabi Painted Blooms Cotton Twine looks nice and natural.
  • Love the tiny Butterfly Punch – just a simple Rhinestone in the middle sets it off.
  • My sentiment comes from Indescribable Gift.  What a beautiful saying to begin this Spring season!

More Easter and Nature’s Perfection

happy easter natures perfection

I couldn’t stop using the fun rose template that is part of the Artisan Embellishment Kit in the Stampin’ Up! 2015 Occasions Catalog.  If you missed it, you’ll find another version HERE.  I’ve also explained how to use Sponge Daubers and Stamp Pads to create the background on that first card.  This one uses Real Red roses on a background of Old Olive.

  • I die cut two Basic Black cardstock pieces for this card.  The “happy” comes from the Hello You Thinlits, and the sweet edging is a piece from Finishing Touches Edgelits, both used with the Big Shot.
  • The butterfly and the row of flowers are both stamps contained in Nature’s Perfection, a newly added stamp set to the Sale-A-Bration offering this month.  Spend $50 (before tax/shipping) on any Stampin’ Up! products, and choose this beautiful stamp set free!
  • I wanted the butterfly to have the same softly colored feel as the stenciled roses, so I stamped in Black StazOn Ink then used my Sponge Dauber and Real Red stamp pad to add a splash of color to it.  And Stampin’ Up! has a coordinating punch called Elegant Butterfly that will line up with this stamp precisely.
  • “Easter” comes from the Indescribable Gift stamp set, also in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.
  • I came up with a pretty accent and something different for this card.  I used the smallest Basic Black Button in the Neutrals Designer Button packet, then placed the largest Rhinestone Jewel in the center.  Fits perfectly and gives the right look to the card!

Nature’s Perfection Easter

Easter natures perfection navy

Today I’m showing you a card that mixes up several stamp sets and accessories.  But the real feature here is how to create the rose stenciled background piece!  I just LOVE the Artisan Embellishment Kit found on pg. 27 of the Occasions Catalog!  It’s perfect for the home crafter, with a little bit of this and some of that all in one kit.

  • One of the best parts about this kit is that there are two double-sided Sahara Sand and Whisper White 3″x4″ cards.  you can use them “as is” or you can use them like a stencil.  I combined my Sponge Daubers with this stencil, along with Hello Honey and Old Olive stamp pads, to create the pretty rose background.
  • Another element from the Artisan Embellishment Kit is the Doily.  It’s a bit smaller than the regular package of doilies we carry, and I like having some smaller sizes too.
  • I’m also featuring the newly-added Sale-A-Bration stamp set called Nature’s Perfection which stamped the butterfly and the greenery on the 2-1/2″ Circle.  I stamped the butterfly in Night of Navy ink then colored in with  and Hello Honey and Marine Mist Markers.  And Stampin’ Up! has a coordinating punch called Elegant Butterfly that will line up with this stamp precisely.  Nature’s Perfection is only available as a free gift to you for spending $50 during Sale-A-Bration.  But hurry – there are less than 2 weeks left of this fabulous sale!
  • Happy Easter comes from Indescribable Gift stamp set found in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  I stamped in VersaMark and heat embossed using White Embossing Powder and my Heat Tool.
  • Pearls are a nice accent down the body of the butterfly and a row of them under Happy Easter.

Happy Easter Bunny card

Happy Easter Bunny card

Today I’m showing you an Easter card using Happy Easter Bunny single stamp from Stampin’ Up! that will coordinate with the gift box I posted a couple of days ago HERE.  I’ve used basically the same materials as with the box –

  • I took my color scheme from the Confetti Celebration Designer Paper using two of the many pretty prints in this package to create the belly band.
  • The Crushed Curry Ribbon comes from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack that is one of this year’s Sale-A-Bration free gifts.  You only have two weeks left of Sale-A-Bration, and all non-stamp choices are only while supplies last.  If you’re planning to order again to receive Sale-A-Bration items, please do it very soon – I wouldn’t want you to be disappointed when your choice is gone!
  • The Happy Easter Bunny stamp set was the perfect stamped piece for the front of my card.  You really don’t need much else with this nice big image.  I was able to cut it as well as the border using the Oval Framelits Collection and Big Shot.
  • I colored the tiny pieces with my Stampin’ Write Markers in Melon Mambo, So Saffron and Bermuda Bay.  This is the perfect time to invest in the Many Marvelous Markers set of all 38 colors in our color collections.  At $109.95, you’re saving substantially by purchasing the markers all together, and this is the only way to get the handy carrying case, too.  And with Sale-A-Bration still going strong, you can choose TWO free Sale-A-Bration gifts for your marker purchase!
  • I wanted a really light look for the bunny, so I switched my coloring technique to using both the Pink Pirouette and Smoky Slate stamp pads along with my Aqua Painters.  This way, I could control the depth of color more and could be sure to get just a touch of color.

Happy Easter Bunny card closeup

Oh, good grief – I did it again!  Did you find the piece I forgot to color?!  I really need to be more careful next time!

Happy Easter Bunny duo

Here are the box and coordinating card together.  I love that with our beautiful Stampin’ Up! products, we can create this matching look with our gifts and cards.  It gives that added “wow factor”!  (I did go back in and hit the missing piece on the card before I snapped this photo, but that poor bunny on the box is still missing his arm!)

Happy Easter Bunny Treat Box

Happy Easter Bunny box 2_edited-1

Stampin’ Up!’s Gift Box Punch Board was instrumental in creating my Easter project today.  And it’s so easy to use!  I began with a sheet of So Saffron 12″ x 12″ cardstock and just followed along on the instructions on the handy label to create a box that is 4″ x 4″ x 4″.

Here’s how I decorated:

  • I took my color scheme from the Confetti Celebration Designer Paper using two of the many pretty prints in this package to create the belly band.
  • The bow was a snap with another fabulous Stampin’ Up! tool – the Gift Bow Die used with the Big Shot.  Just cut a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock at 5-1/2″ x 4-1/4″ and use it with the die.  Curling the pieces with your Bone Folder will make them easier to shape.
  • The Happy Easter Bunny stamp set was the perfect stamped piece for the front of my box.

Happy Easter Bunny box closeup

  • I just LOVE how this box unfolds!  And to put it together there’s absolutely no adhesive used!  Just slide the opposite sides together using the slits.  I made a “nest” using Bermuda Bay cardstock cut super thin, then wadded it up in a ball.  I think larger Cadbury Eggs would be the perfect thing for this box, but I only had small “eggs” of pastel peanut M&M’s on hand.

Happy Easter Bunny box open

This box is a fairly substantial size, so you could put a lot of different things in it, even a small stuffed animal.  It’s the perfect trappings for a special Easter gift!

Happy Easter Bunny box

Oh, my gosh – I just noticed a coloring goof!  Did you catch it?  I’m done with all my photo taking and editing and it’s just too late to go back and redo.  So what to do but make a game of it!  Let me know in a comment below if you can find what I did wrong.  First one to answer and I’ll send you a little something in the mail!

UPDATE:  Here’s a video that Stampin’ Up! has prepared showing how easy it is to use the Gift Box Punch Board.

Indescribable Gift

Indescribable Gift

Easter is early this year – April 5th – so I’ll be gearing up to show you lots of Easter projects during March.  For my first card of the season, I’ve used Indescribable Gift, a beautiful stamp set in the 2015 Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog.  You’ll receive this beautiful flower image plus 3 great sentiments.

  • My color scheme for this card is Pear Pizzazz, Pink Pirouette and Rose Red, with just a touch of So Saffron for the flower centers and Crumb Cake for the tree branch.
  • I’ve always loved coloring images with my Aqua Painter and stamp pads.  And while our Blendabilities are on hold right now, I’m back to one of my favorite ways to color!  I used Naturals White cardstock; this paper takes the water from the Aqua Painter much better than the smooth Whisper White cardstock.
  • Remember to stamp with StazOn when using water!
  • The pretty Pink Pirouette polka dot paper (say THAT 3 times fast!) comes from the Subtles Backgrounds Designer Series Paper Stack.
  • The splatter stamp from Gorgeous Grunge stamp set has got to be one of my favorite stamps of all times!  It adds just a little something to fill in around the edges.
  • The sentiment is punched out with the 1-3/4″ Circle Punch.  I added a piece of Rose Red Lace from the Artisan Embellishment Kit behind it and popped the circle up with Dimensionals.

Easter Take Care

Take Care SAB 2014

You'd be surprised at how many everyday stamp sets can work for various holidays!  I saw my Take Care stamp set on my shelf and thought it was perfect for Easter.  I'm hoping and praying for Spring here in New York State – I actually did see a robin a couple of days ago, so it just has to be here soon!

  • I've loved using the 2014 Sale-A-Bration free gifts this season.  In this card, I've used the Decorative Dots embossing folder to replicate the egg look, and the Summer Starfruit twine that's contained in the Sweet Sorbet Accessories, both of which are yours free, each with a $50 order placed.  But hurry – Sale-A-Bration only lasts until March 31st!

Take Care SAB 2014 2

  • I stamped my main image on a piece of Whisper White cardstock that's been die cut with the Labels Collection Framelits.  I used markers to ink up the tree image, and the nest is stamped with Crumb Cake ink
  • I stamped the eggs in Soft Sky ink then added some 2-Way Glue and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter for a sweet accent.
  • Three Soft Sky Candy Dots from the Subtles Collection also add a third element to tie in the background and eggs.
  • "Happy Easter" is from my tried and true Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.

Blessed Easter

tulips
Today's post is my second Easter card for the season; in case you missed my first one, it's HERE.  I'm also showing you ways to use two of the free Sale-A-Bration products that can be yours when you place a Stampin' Up! order.

  • Blessed Easter is such a beautiful stamp!  It only comes in wood and is a single stamp, but you can convert it to a clear-mount stamp if you wish.  I split up the image and sentiment by stamping the sentiment on a piece of scrap cardstock and punching it out with the XL Oval Punch then mounted it with Dimensionals.
  • Tulips were stamped with StazOn Ink and colored in with Stampin' Write Markers.
  • I've used a Springy color scheme of Gumball Green, So Saffron, Crisp Cantaloupe and Strawberry Slush.
  • The Labels Framelits are terrific for layering!
  • The two terrific Sale-A-Bration products are the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder and the Crisp Cantaloupe Twine from the Sweet Sorbet Accessories pack.  For each $50 you spend on Stampin' Up! products, you may choose a gift from the Sale-A-Bration Brochure completely free.
