Three for One Today – Happy Birthday, Congrats and Welcome

PerfectPairingsHappyDayFull

We’re now into Spring, but not so in Central New York!  It’s gloomy and 32 degrees out while I type this post.  But no matter what’s going on outside, I can find my “happy place” amidst Stampin’ Up!’s bright, fun colors.  And the beautiful It’s My Part Designer Series Paper has the perfect color scheme to brighten anyone’s day – Melon Mambo, Crushed Curry, Mint Macaron and Basic Black.

And I’m trying to use our beautiful Sale-A-Bration products every day, since there are only a few days left of the best Stampin’ Up! sale of the year!  My sentiment comes from Perfect Pairings, a wonderful sentiment stamp set that you’ll be able to use time and time again.  Here’s another card I made using this great stamp set – click HERE.

My Stampin’ Up! team, the From the Heart Stampers, does a sketch challenge twice a month.  It’s a really fun way to see what everyone’s working on and to get some inspiration for a new design.  I always start my card designs with a sketch layout, so this is especially fun for me.  This is just one of the many perks for being a part of my team.  Here’s the sketch I was working from for my card design:

CASE of the Mondays #89

See how easy it is to create a fabulous card with a great sketch and some beautiful Stampin’ Up! supplies!

  • I cut the It’s My Party designer paper into different widths from 1/4″ to 3/4″.  It killed me to not keep them straight – I’m such a perfectionist – but I thought it actually looked better to be a little “off”.
  • The large flower is created using the Floral Frames Framelits with the Big Shot.  Circles are cut using the Circle Framelits.  Leaves and tiny Crushed Curry flower are cut using Flower Fair Framelits.  Yes, I do use my Framelits a lot!
  • There’s a little nest of Silver Thread between the flower and the Crushed Curry circle.  Just add some SNAIL Adhesive to the center of the flower, wad up a nice long piece of thread and stick it down into the adhesive.  Use Dimensionals to hold the circles on top.  Yes, this thread looks better “messy” too!  At first I wound it around my hand making it into nice, even loops, but it looked too forced.

PerfectPairingsHappyDayCloseup
And why stop there with this great layout!  I went on to create some congratulations and welcome cards for my team members.  First up is a fabulous “way to go” card, complete with stars and glimmer paper.

BravoWayToGoFull

  • The big star is cut with – you guessed it – the Stars Framelits.
  • The tiny silver star is a handheld punch in the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack and Silver Glimmer Paper.
  • “Way to Go” is one of the many celebratory stamps in the Bravo stamp set, found in the main Annual Catalog.  I stamped it once in Black Memento Ink then again on scrap paper in Melon Mambo ink and cut out the “to” banner, adhering it over the black stamping with Dimensionals.
  • Check out the sweet little Melon Mambo enamel dot from the It’s My Party collection!  Love that they have a self-adhesive backing.

  • BravoWayToGoCloseup

And my last version of this card went out to brand new team members who have joined my team this month.  In all, we’ve added quite a number of demonstrators, both hobbyists and business-builders, during Sale-A-Bration!  There are a few days left – won’t you consider joining our team?  During Sale-A-Bration, choose $155 of products and pay only $99 – an extra $30 in products during this sale only.  And your starter kit ships free, giving you an additional 10% savings!

Happy Birthday Blooms

BirthdayBloms

Birthday Bouquet is another beautiful suite in the Stampin’ Up! 2016 Occasions Catalog.  Having a suite of products that coordinates perfectly completely takes the guesswork out of what to use to create a gorgeous card – Stampin’ Up! does it all for us!  I’ve only used a few of the products highlighted in the catalog, but feel free to add more!

  • A beautiful designer paper like Birthday Bouquet DSP is the perfect place to begin a card.  Here I’ve used two of these prints combined with the Blushing Bride and White diagonal stripe from the Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack.
  • The pretty background created allows our sweet sentiment from Birthday Blooms stamp set to shine.  Stamped in Pool Party ink and cut out with the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch, it’s the perfect focal point to our quick and easy card.

BirthdayBlooms2

  • The new Pool Party Glitter Ribbon is SCRUMPTIOUS!  I was a little hesitant to order it because usually glitter means it’s stiff.  But this is so soft and ties really nicely!
  • In case you’d like to copy this layout using this designer paper or any other pretty papers, the three designer pieces each measure 1-1/2″ x 3″.
  • It seems I use the Petite Petal Punch a lot – it’s just the right touch to so many cards!

BirthdayBloomscloseup

  • For one of the flower centers, I used a Metal Rimmed Pearl; the other flower center is a Pool Party button from the Subtles Designer Buttons pack threaded through the center with White Baker’s Twine.  Don’t forget your Glue Dots for adhering the button!

Have A Cuppa is Tea-riffic

HaveACuppa1

Today I have two versions of the same card and I need your help – which do you like best?  Leave me a comment and vote for “tea-riffic” or “it’s your day”.   It’s all about the Have A Cuppa product suite in the Stampin’ Up! 2016 Occasions Catalog.  This is one set that I’ll never part with, even when it retires.  I absolutely love the coordination between the stamped images in A Nice Cuppa stamp set and the Cups & Kettle Framelits Dies.  And right now you can bundle the two together and save 15%.

  • Color scheme is Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Melon Mambo, Pool Party and Whisper White – lots of the most popular Stampin’ Up! colors!
  • The Have A Cuppa Designer Paper is 48 sheets, 4 each of 12 double-sided designs in a 6″ x 6″ stack and has a wonderful mix of bolder prints and prints that are more tone-on-tone.
  • Take a snip of Melon Mambo Cardstock and the heart punch from Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack to create the little heart motif.   A Rhinestone Jewel is the perfect accent for the heart.  And this week, Rhinestones are a part of the Weekly Deals – marked down to just $3.75!

HaveACuppa2

  • This version features the Fabulous Four stamp set – perfect to send this card as a birthday card.
  • For both cards, I stamped the cup in Bermuda Bay ink and the lemon in Crushed Curry ink.  The cup has a framelit that works nicely to cut it out and I used my Paper Snips for cutting out the lemon.  I also added a slice in the center so that it can look like it’s sitting on the cup’s rim.  A Dimensional on the front piece of the lemon really makes it come to life.
  • Wisteria Wonder Seam Binding Ribbon is the perfect accent for my card.  It matches the designer paper perfectly and ties beautifully around the cup handle.

Happy Home Birthday

Happy Home Birthday

The new 2016 Stampin’ Up! Occasions Catalog is full of fun products for birthday cards.  And again I love mixing the old with the new.  Here the “old” is the Cupcake Punch, which takes on a fresh, new look when coupled with some of the new products.

  • The Have A Cuppa designer paper stack is SOOOOO versatile!  Here’s a card using this paper for a Valentine’s Day Card.  And now here’s a piece that has a cute cupcake image – as well as two other pretty prints.
  • The color scheme – Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry, Wisteria Wonder and Basic Black – comes from colors in the entire pack.
  • The new Baker’s Twine  Combo Pack contains two spools – one that’s Black and Mint Macaron and one that’s Black and Melon Mambo.  Grab some Glue Dots to  stick your Baker’s Twine on with.
  • It’s My Party Enamel Dots contains 96 enamel dots, 16 each in 3 colors and 2 sizes, including Melon Mambo.

Celebrate Today

Celebrate Today

Here’s a fun birthday card using Stampin’ Up!’s Celebrate Today stamp set and coordinating Balloons Framelits Dies.  Purchase these two great products together and bundle and save 15%!  I love this simple layout that can really showcase the products.

  • Color scheme of my card is Cucumber Crush, Melon Mambo and Basic Black.  No one does a better job of color coordination in products than Stampin’ Up!,  and the 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon matches perfectly with the Melon Mambo cardstock.
  • My cute flower is cut using the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  Add a White Perfect Accent to the center – they’re self-adhesive, so you need no additional glue.
  • Black and white with a pop of color is always a classy choice, and the Everyday Chic Designer Series Paper will keep you in style with 12 different black and white patterns.
  • Corner rounding is also a nice touch.  Corner round just a couple of corners for added interest using the Corner Rounder Punch.

Celebrate Today closeup

  • The stamp set comes with a straight “string” but I wanted mine curly, so I just grabbed my Basic Black Stampin’ Write Marker and drew it in.

Birthday Cards with Vintage Leaves

vintage leaves olive

I just love fall, and New York State this time of year is simply magnificent.  The colors are so vivid and beautiful in the sunlight!  Today I’ve created two birthday cards inspired by the changing leaves in my area and the gorgeous Stampin’ Up! stamp set called Vintage Leaves.

  • One of my most favorite techniques is emboss resist – stamping in VersaMark Ink, heat embossing with White Embossing Powder then using Sponge Daubers and various stamp pads to create a beautiful backdrop for your stamped images.  And there’s no better time than fall to highlight this technique.
  • I began applying the colors first by using a Sponge Dauber in Crushed Curry ink and going over the entire face of the card lightly with this first color.
  • Next I added in Pumpkin Pie, Cherry Cobbler and Pear Pizzazz and just blended the colors together as they touched.  Have fun with this step – if you don’t like something just keep blending and adding color.
  • The sentiment from Wetlands stamp set is stamped in Early Espresso ink then cut out with the coordinating Leaflets Framelits, with a piece of Linen Thread tied to the leaf’s stem.  I kept it simple, popping the leaf up on Dimensionals and letting the background shine.

vintage leaves olive closeup

BIG TIP:  You’ll need to dedicate one Sponge Dauber to each of your colors.  In order to keep them well organized, I use my label maker and create a label for each dauber.

label maker

Each dauber has its own color label:

sponge dauber label

and they get neatly stored in this craft box – the perfect size!

sponge dauber case

You can find this nifty case on Amazon by searching for “dauber with storage box by Darice”.

Next up are the same two stamp sets, but I changed the color scheme, sponging on Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze and Blackberry Bliss.

vintage leaves blackberry

  • I oriented the card the other way and used the Wetlands stamps on the tag, punching it out with the Note Tag Punch.
  • I wrapped the Linen Thread around the card front three times then tied a bow for the top.
  • A couple of Dimensionals holds the tag in place.

I’d love to hear from you as to which card you prefer!  Color choice is so important, and people have such different favorites – what’s yours?  Leave me a comment below.

Wonderful Wreath and Happy Birthday Everyone

Happy birthday everyone with wreath

This card came from an idea I had about the Wonderful Wreath Framelits by Stampin’ Up!  I wanted to use the pieces to this framelits set to create a summer wreath for a special birthday card.

  • The colors I chose are Melon Mambo, Hello Honey, Night of Navy and Old Olive.  They’re the colors in the English Garden Designer Paper, minus a couple, but worked really well for the wreath.
  • I started by cutting out the wreath base using Old Olive Cardstock with the two wreath framelits – both the inside and the outside pieces.  This allows some of the green to peek through so that you don’t have to cut out extra leaves.  Here’s a photo of how the wreath begins:

Wonderful Wreath and Big Shot

  • Cutting out all of the flowers is a breeze with the Framelits.  I doubled the cardstock, cutting two at a time, and the framelits cut through both layers nicely.  “Scrunching” the cardstock flowers made them a bit more three dimensional.
  • The centers of the flowers are created with the 1/4″ Circle Handheld Punch; use a 2-Way Glue Pen to adhere them all.
  • A pretty Night of Navy 1/2″ Seam Binding Ribbon is the perfect accent to the wreath, held in place with a Glue Dot.

Happy birthday everyone with wreath closeup_edited-1

  • My sentiment comes from a host-exclusive stamp set called Happy Birthday, EveryoneHere’s another card using this great set.  Choose this stamp set as a free gift when you order a minimum of $150 in products in my Online Store (before tax/shipping).

happybirthdayeveryoneinside

  • And inside the card, I used the “happy birthday” sentiment from the same set stamped in Night of Navy Ink – such a pretty combination of fonts!

Happy Birthday with Cottage Greetings and a Cherry on Top

Happy birthday 2

Sprinkles of Life is the Ronald McDonald charity stamp set this year – Stampin’ Up! will donate $3 to this worthy organization for each of these stamp sets purchased.  Buy this great set AND support this cause – a great combination!

I love the coordination of the Sprinkles of Life stamp set with the Cherry on Top designer paper.  In fact, I had a hard time deciding which papers to use with my card – they all looked great!  So here are a few other samples with different papers for the center strip.

Happy birthday 3

Happy birthday1

  • Another star of the show is the Cottage Greetings stamp set.  This great set was designed to go with the Cottage Greetings Card Kit (which I’ll show you another day), but of course, you can always use the stamp set with other cards.  I just love the whimsical font!
  • You’ll want to grab the Tree Builder Punch that also coordinates with the Sprinkles of Life stamp set.  This will enable you to punch out many of the images in the stamp set.  I’ve popped up the cupcake top with Dimensionals after punching it out, as well as the cherry on top of the cupcake.
  • Stampin’ Up! is now carrying a banner punch so that you’ll never have to figure out how to cut your banner ends evenly again.  It’s called the Banner Triple Punch and is designed to punch three different width of strips, but really any size strip will work.  It’s a must for quick, neat banners.
  • Another greatly used punch in my stash is the Project Life Corner Rounder Punch.  It was designed to be just the right “swoop” for your Project Life cards and photos, but it works perfectly for your cards, too.  Just rounding one corner and placing the background Whisper White Cardstock over to the far left rather than centered gives this card a fresh look.

Happy birthday closeup

  • Place your cupcake on a Crushed Curry Cardstock circle using the Circle Framelits and Big Shot.
  • Don’t forget to add a little sparkle to your cupcake.  I used a 2-Way Glue Pen and Dazzling Diamonds Glitter on the cupcake top.  And for the shiny 3D finish on the cherry, just add a little dab of Crystal Effects.  Be sure to let it dry – it takes a little time.

Happy Birthday and Bohemian Borders

happy birthday everyone

With the Bohemian Borders stamp set by Stampin’ Up!, you can create beautifully simple cards in a jif.  Any color combination can be used.  Here I’ve chosen Bermuda Bay, Elegant Eggplant and So Saffron – just a little different from the Bohemian Designer Series Paper colors.

The other featured stamp set is a host-exclusive set called Happy Birthday, Everyone.  I just love the font on this one, and it’s a stamp set that’s literally for everyone!  Earn yours free when you purchase a minimum of $150 in my online store.  You can also host a workshop in your home and receive this set for free.  Email me if that’s something you’d like to do (and you’re within an hour’s drive of Rochester, NY).  OR another way that you can receive this stamp set is my Birthday Club – check it out HERE.

A piece of Bohemian Designer Series Paper works great for lining the envelope, since the sheet I chose is a Bermuda Bay print.  This pretty touch really ramps up the wow appeal of your cards.  Be sure to order the Envelope Liner Framelits so you can line all of your special creations.

I have to confess – I’m having a very hard time working today!  It’s picture perfect here in Central New York, and I just want to be gardening!  So I decided to try something different and shoot my card photo outside – what do you think?

happy birthday everyone closeup

Stamping the “to an amazing woman” in a different color ink on a separate piece of Whisper White Cardstock and putting it on Dimensionals adds a nice touch.
