Welcome baby with Zoo Babies

Zoo Babies

Zoo Babies stamp set by Stampin’ Up! is still my favorite “go to” set for babies!  The images are sweet, and when paired with the new Sweet Li’l Things Designer Paper and color scheme, it takes on a fresh, new life!

  • There are two new ribbons and trims in this card.  The Tangelo Twist 5/8″ Striped Cotton Ribbon is cinched with some Very Vanilla Thick Baker’s Twine.  These pretty cotton ribbons come in all of the 2014-16 In Colors.  Get your New Catalog Share of these beautiful ribbons plus more right HERE!
  • The sweet star paper is a piece from Sweet Li’l Things Designer Paper and is in Hello Honey.
  • The elephant is stamped in the new In Color Tip Top Taupe, both on the 2″ Very Vanilla circle and on the Envelope to coordinate.  A Pool Party Candy Dot from the Subtles packet acts as the elephant’s eye on the card, and I colored in the eye with a Pool Party Stampin’ Write Marker for the envelope.
  • The Tangelo Twist cardstock circle is cut with the Circles Framelits and Big Shot, then run through with the Lucky Stars Embossing Folder.  Both circles are held together with a little mini Clothespin I found amongst one of my kits.  Then that whole main image is popped up off the card with Dimensionals.

  • Just for a little added dimension, I stamped the elephant twice then cut out his ear with Paper Snips and added it with a Dimensional.

Sweet Dreams, baby boy or baby girl!

S&C6A

S&C6B

Whether you need a baby boy or a baby girl card, this one works out great!  Stampin’ Up! has designed the Sweet Dreams Designer Paper and the Sweet Dreams Designer Buttons so that you’ll have lots of choices!

  • The One Tag Fits All is such a fun stamp set!  Here I’ve stamped the frame in Lost Lagoon Ink and Calypso Coral Ink.  The duck is stamped, colored in with markers, cut out and popped up on DimensionalsPlease note:  While the catalog says that this stamp set coordinates with the Note Tag Punch, I would not recommend planning to use the punch with the stamped frame image.  I feel it takes too much of the frame away, and I preferred to cut it by hand with my Paper Snips.  It’s an easy image to hand cut and the results are much better.
  • Do I ever make a card that I don’t use the Circle Framelits?  I think it is the most useful tool I have in my studio!
  • Add some coordinating embellishments from the Occasions Catalog.  The Sweet Dreams Designer Buttons contain the Crisp Cantaloupe and Lost Lagoon buttons, as well as one in Sahara Sand and a pretty white heart.  Tie some simple White Baker’s Twine through the center and adhere it to the card with Glue Dots.
  • A snip of Hello Honey Quilted Cotton Ribbon is tucked behind the circle.  It works for both cards since the duck is also colored Hello Honey.
  • The Sahara Sand cardstock layer is run through the Big Shot using the Large Polka Dot Embossing Folder for the top of the cardstock.

And now on to the card I’ve made for you today:

Hello baby

My only daughter is expecting her second child, a girl, in early August.   And a very dear friend is also expecting a baby in the early fall.  So please excuse me while I have “baby on the brain”!  But seriously, Stampin’ Up! has some of the most adorable baby stamps ever right now, and beautiful designer papers in both the Annual Catalog and Occasions Catalog.  My card today is a combination from both catalogs.

I absolutely love a good card layout to start out my designing.  And this card is no exception.  It’s basically the same layout as my Easter card I posted HERE.  It’s truly where all my design ideas come from.  I love the Mojo Monday card sketches, as well as those on Splitcoast Stampers posted on Wednesdays.  Here’s the sketch I used for my card:

SC532

Once you have a great layout, you just plug in the stamp set and coordinating accessories!  And Stampin’ Up! makes that so easy by giving us so many well-planned, coordinating products.

  • I began with the stamp set called Little Sunshine, a great set from the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  I love that this set coordinates with the Word Bubbles Framelits and makes adding a sentiment a snap.
  • I then went to the Annual Catalog to pull out Something for Baby stamp set and coordinating Baby’s First Framelits.  Purchase both items and save 15% on the bundle.  I was able to stamp the baby carriage in Crisp Cantaloupe ink then cut it out in a jiff with the Framelit and Big Shot.  Did you see the cute little Mini Silver Brads in the wheels?  And they’re so easy to set with the Paper-Piercing Tool and Stampin’ Pierce Mat.
  • Both designer papers come from the Annual Catalog as well – Lullaby – and another great choice would be Sweet Dreams in the Occasions Catalog.
  • The Hello Honey Quilted Ribbon is such a treat to work with!  It is a little thick, so I just popped up the whole card front on Dimensionals so there was plenty of room for the ribbon to ride in the back.  A double bow with the Whisper White Baker’s Twine cinches the ribbon up a bit.
  • You’ll want to purchase the items for this card soon.  The card is based on two of the five In Colors that are retiring soon – Baked Brown Sugar and Crisp Cantaloupe.  All products containing the 2013-15 In Colors will go on the retiring products list on April 21st, and after that, you’ll only be able to buy these products “while supplies last”.  In the past, they’ve flown off the shelves.

Hello baby closeup

And speaking of babies, here’s one of my “grandbabies” at Easter morning service.  He’s informed us that he’s no longer to be called “cute”.  But it’s okay if we call him handsome!

Zoo Babies and Flower Pot Designer Paper

Zoo Babies and Flowerpot DSP

It’s funny how an older stamp set can look so fresh and new when paired with a brand new package of designer series paper.  And the color scheme becomes so easy – Night of Navy, Tangelo Twist, Crushed Curry, Lost Lagoon and Garden Green.  In this card, I’ve combined Zoo Babies stamp set and Flower Pot Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up!

  • You’ll find lining up all of the zoo babies easier if you cut out your 3-1/8″ Circle first using the Big Shot and Circle Framelits.  That way, you can get a nice  fit.
  • The Stampin’ Up! Fringe Scissors are perfect for making grass!
  • While Stampin’ Up! doesn’t carry In Color buttons, I found that a Calypso Coral Button from the Subtles Button Pack matched perfectly.  A bit of White Baker’s Twine is tied through the center.
  • Did you notice the Crushed Curry Candy Dot used for the elephant’s eye?  Boy, those things come in handy!

Something for Baby

Something for Baby

I had so much fun bringing you this sweet baby card!  I was in the mood for a little experimentation, so let me tell you a few things about my card today.

  • I wanted some designer paper to place in the back of my image and nothing was working.  I just wasn’t happy with what I had.  So I decided to make my own!  I started with punching out some Whisper White cardstock stars from the new Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.  I laid them onto an additional piece of Whisper White cardstock, and using a Stampin’ Spritzer with Daffodil Delight ink drops from the Ink Refill mixed with rubbing alcohol, I spritzed all over the cardstock.  When it dried I just shook off the star masks and voila!  Soon I won’t have to make my own masks.  Stampin’ Up! is introducing four different masks I’ll be able to use, but for now, this was a good way to make it work!  NOTE:  I did use Daffodil Delight ink refill because it tends to be a little lighter when you spritz.

I did the same thing to create an inside liner:

Something for Baby inside

  • The sweet little stack toy was created with Something for Baby stamp set and markers in So Saffron, Pistachio Pudding, Crisp Cantaloupe and Baked Brown Sugar.
  • A Wooden Element was a great accent for my card.  I punched out a 1″ Pistachio Pudding cardstock circle and placed it on top, adding a So Saffron Button and some Baker’s Twine.  The new Fast Fuse was the perfect adhesive to attach my Wooden Element to the cardstock.
  • The sentiment comes from Something to Say stamp set and is stamped in Baked Brown Sugar ink.
  • I love the addition of a few rounded corners – it just seems to make the card.  I use my Envelope Punch Board for perfect corners every time.

Something for Baby – NEW for 2014!

Hi, All – so sorry I haven’t posted in a while!  Just wanted to show you a picture of who’s been keeping me busy!
LANDON

I had the privilege of spending the past 9 days with one of my grandsons, Landon, while his parents were on vacation.  We had a ball and, in fact, I did get some work done while he was with me!  I’ll be posting that soon for all of you Project Life fans!

But this morning I wanted to dig into my brand new box of Stampin’ Up! goodies!  As a demonstrator, you are able to pre-order new Stampin’ Up! products before they’re available to the general public!  Cool, huh?
Something for Baby

  •  There are quite a few brand new products on this card for baby.  The first is a new bundle that you’ll be able to order – Something for Baby stamp set has 12 stamps and coordinates with Baby’s First Framelits Dies.  Buy them as a bundle and save 15% in either wood or clear mount.  I stamped both the onesie and tie then cut them out in a snap with my Big Shot and new framelits.
  • Another wonderful addition to baby cards is the Lullaby Designer Series Paper – pretty prints in Baked Brown Sugar, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, Hello Honey and Pistachio Pudding that aren’t just for baby.
  • While it isn’t Coastal Cabana, the Pool Party Subtles Candy Dot works nicely for a tie pin.
  • “Hello Baby” is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set – haven’t purchased any of the fun, new sentiment stamps yet, but this works nicely cut out with Bitty Banners Framelits.
  • Circles Framelits are a must for all paper crafters – the backdrop circle is Hello Honey, one of the five new In Colors for 2014-16.
  • The little accent in the top right is created with the Ticket Punch and a Naturals Designer Button.  Use a sliver of cardstock to act as thread!  NOTE:  Purchase your Naturals Buttons NOW!  They are on the retiring list and will soon be gone!
  • Since my card measures 4-1/4″ square, I pulled out my Envelope Punch Board to create a custom-sized envelope in Hello Honey.

Something for Baby 2

Thank you, Stampin’ Up!, for bringing us such fresh, fun paper-crafting supplies for baby!  You’ll be able to purchase all of these new items beginning June 2nd.

Label Love for Baby

Label Love Baby

  • Label Love is a fun stamp set in the Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog that I hadn’t given much attention to. But I got it out and started playing, and I found that it’s a really versatile set full of lots of possibilities!  Here I’ve created a fun baby girl card using a creative paper-piecing technique.
  • Colors I’ve chosen for this sweet baby girl card are So Saffron, Strawberry Slush, Pistachio Pudding and Blushing Bride.
  • Subtles Collection Paper Stack to the rescue for a coordinating piece of So Saffron polka dot paper.  Keep this handy stack on hand in all of the Stampin’ Up! color choices and you’ll be set at a moment’s notice!
  • The Stampin’ Up! catalog lists the Artisan Label Punch as coordinating with Label Love, but I discovered another punch that worked great for the center sentiment – the 7/8″ Scallop Circle Punch.  Another punch, the flower from the Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack, created the tiny flower with So Saffron Candy Dot in the center.
  • Organdy Ribbon is the perfect soft touch for this card!

Are you interested in creating this pinwheel background?  Well, one of May’s Stamp Shoppe cards features written, step-by-step instructions for this great technique.  Be sure to place your qualifying order to receive your set of cards plus the instructions, all for free!  More details on my free cards program can be found HERE.

A couple more swaps

Here are a couple more swaps I made at our Stamp Fest shoebox swap.

Here's a cute baby card created by Christine L.  It could also be a wonderful birthday card by changing up the tiny tag.  Christine used the single stamp called Elebration along with stamp pads and an Aqua Painter for coloring in the image.  And I love the new Old Olive 1/2" Scallop Dots Ribbon!  So cute!

And here's Davina A's beautiful swap, using Nature's Pace stamp set.  Davina dresses this elegant card up with some Very Vanilla 1/2" Seam Binding Ribbon.  The image is easily colored in with Stampin' Write Markers.  How beautiful!
