Holly Jolly Greetings and HUGE Stampin’ Up! Sale Begins!
It’s so funny how a card evolves. I had the idea for this card to be all Very Vanilla and Gold. But I started working with different things, and somehow some pretty Lost Lagoon color just sneaked in! Here’s yet another stamp/framelits coordinated bundle in the Stampin’ Up! 2015 Holiday Catalog – Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set and Christmas Greetings Thinlits. There are so many possibilities with these two products!
- This designer paper is the very beautiful Winter Wonderland Designer Vellum Stack found on pg. 23 of the Holiday Catalog. I point out the page number because you’ve probably gone past it and not given it much thought. This is a must have this season – such a gorgeous selection of papers to work with, and the stack is 6″ x 6″ with 12 different designs. I’ve used two of the gold designs here.
- The card base, the snowflake and the 1/8″ strip of cardstock are all Lost Lagoon in color. Using just two colors – the blue and the gold – keeps this card look quite elegant.
- “Merry” is cut from Gold Glimmer Paper and the Christmas Greetings Thinlits. You’ll want to pick up the newest member of the Stampin’ Up! adhesives – the Fine-Tip Glue Pen – to make it super simple to adhere the skinny sentiment to your card.
- The center of the snowflake is adorned with a Gold Button tied with Gold Baker’s Twine. Having trouble getting that twine through the button centers? I just tied the twine in a bow and adhered it to the button with a Glue Dot. Much easier on these old eyes!

This sentiment is simply the perfect one for mothers everywhere and comes from the Stampin’ Up! 2015 Occasions Catalog stamp set called Mother’s Love. Mother’s Day is just a week away, so be sure to honor the moms in your life with a beautiful handmade card!
- I’ve used the pretty Painted Blooms Designer Paper as the basis for my card and a wonderfully springy color scheme – Blackberry Bliss, Daffodil Delight, Pacific Point, Rose Red and Wild Wasabi.
- Gold Embossing Powder really makes the sentiment stand out on the Rose Red cardstock circle. It’s layered with a pretty Doily.
- Again, Stampin’ Up! does the coordination factor so well! I’ve used a Gold Button and some gold fibers from the Gold Baker’s Twine through the button, as well as Wild Wasabi Painted Blooms Cotton Twine.
- It’s a super simple card, but my mother-in-law will love it!
I’m missing my mom terribly as I create Mother’s Day cards; she has been gone 10 years now and left this Earth way too young. Please indulge me as I share one of my favorite pictures of the two of us. This picture says it all – no one loves like mom!

- My idea for this card came from the gorgeous Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack. I particularly love the butterfly print. There are lots of fun things you can do with this vellum, like color in on the back side and use a stylus to push dimension into it. But here I just used it simply – with a beautiful color like Coastal Cabana cardstock placed behind it so the color can shine through.
- I love blues and purples together, and so I jumped immediately to my favorite purple – Rich Razzleberry – for the sentiment. Here’s the second Sale-A-Bration product in my card – Big Day stamp set. I used it for the “happy birthday” saying. But what to do to make the sentiment really stand out? I heat embossed it by stamping in VersaMark ink, sprinkling on Silver Embossing Powder and heat embossing it with the Heat Tool.
- I needed a bit more silver on my card to really tie it together so I used a Silver Button with two fibers attached. This is the third Sale-A-Bration product on my card – the Coastal Cabana ribbon from the Best Year Ever Accessory Pack. I separated the vanilla twine away from the silver fibers of the Silver Baker’s Twine and added them in as well. Don’t forget a package of Glue Dots – they’re the very best adhesive for adding embellishments to your card.

by Shoe Box Swap for the Weekend Retreat
This past weekend, we met at Onanda Park on beautiful Canandaigua Lake for our annual weekend retreat. We had a blast getting to know each other better, being silly, eating wonderful food and, of course, stamping instead of sleeping! Pictured here are the members of my team who were able to come. We had a fun photo op our final evening.
One of the highlights of our weekend is a shoe box swap. For those of you who might not have done one of these before, you design a card, cut all of the supplies for making the card, plus the punches, inks and stamps, and put them in a shoe box. Saturday evening was the time to put them all together. I was blown away by everyone’s creativity! I’ll share some of the shoebox swap designs from others in another post, but for now, I’ll share mine.
This is the card I brought for my shoe box swap. I was on a roll with the Baby Wipe Technique that I showed you in a previous post so I continued on that same theme.
- Colors for the ink refills are Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo, Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon. Refer back to the instructions on this card to create your own stamp pad using ink refills.
- I stamped on Shimmery White cardstock – it doesn’t look a lot different from Whisper White cardstock in the photo, but when you see it “in person” it does make a nice, subtle difference with a little sparkle to go with the snowflakes.
- Accents are some fun Frosted Sequins along with a Rich Razzleberry Candy Dot, and the bottom banner is Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Paper from the Bolds Paper Stack, Lost Lagoon Ribbon and a Silver Button tied with White Baker’s Twine.

by Four Feathers and Eye-Catching Ikat
I just love the addition of the Four Feathers stamp set and coordinating Feathers Framelits to the 2014 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog. I have lots of Native American art in my home, and so I looked at what I could pair this great stamp set with to achieve that effect. Lo and behold – I found a set in my collection that I haven’t used a lot called Eye-Catching Ikat. Since this stamp set is in photopolymer, I was able to line up my stamping to create my own designer paper by stamping in Crushed Curry, Tempting Turquoise and Cajun Craze.
- I stamped two of the feathers on Very Vanilla cardstock. For the third feather, I stamped on Tempting Turquoise cardstock with VersaMark and sprinkled on Silver Embossing Powder, then heat set with the Heat Tool.
- Wasn’t sure where to add my sentiment, so I decided to cut out an extra feather and stamp a simple “hello” from A Dozen Thoughts stamp set on it.
- I added additional “sterling silver” accents using a Silver Button and a strip of Silver Foil run through the Big Shot using the zig-zag framelit in the Finishing Touches Edgelits.
I tried adding some Candy Dots with Brad Bases, but I think it’s too much – thought I’d show you anyway. What do you think? Leave me a comment!

Fall card making and stamping has never been more fun than with the For All Things stamp set and coordinating Color Me Autumn Designer Series Paper by Stampin’ Up! These are “my colors” – Cajun Craze and Mossy Meadow team up with Soft Suede and Very Vanilla. And the designer paper is so versatile – nice prints to work with on one side and beautiful neutrals on the other. Take a look at all of the prints:
- This card came about by wanting to show off this pretty paper, so I kept things simple. I stamped the watercolor image on Very Vanilla Cardstock using a Sahara Sand stamp pad, then used Mossy Meadow and Cajun Craze Stampin’ Write Markers to color direct to the rubber stamp to create the sentiment.
- I punched the sentiment out using the 2-1/2″ Circle Punch and adhered it to the front using Dimensionals.
- The fiber decoration to the left comes from several different Stampin’ Up! accessories. First I cut the selvage of both sides of the 1-1/4″ Burlap Ribbon to make it narrower and also to let the edges fray naturally. I used the new Stampin’ Up! adhesive Fast Fuse to adhere the burlap to the cardstock. Think Sticky Strip only in a dispenser! Next came the gorgeous Mossy Meadow 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon then some Venetian Crochet Trim. Finally I unwound some of the Natural Old Olive Two-Tone Trim and used just some of the vanilla trim through the center of the Gold Basic Metal Button. Button is attached to the card with Glue Dots.

Stampin’ Up! is all about coordination – and they’ve hit a home run with the new Sea Street stamp set, coupled with the Maritime Designer Series Paper! The color scheme is fresh with the addition of Coastal Cabana to the traditional Night of Navy and Real Red. It really adds something special!
- Did you notice the shimmery water look of the one background piece? It’s Silver Foil Paper and it works perfectly with this card, although a bit hard to photograph!
- The sentiment comes from Lots of Thanks stamp set. It’s a stretch but I was thinking of A Thousand Leagues Under the Sea – I can hear you groaning now!
