Some “left over” Valentines!
Gosh, where did Valentine's Day go? I thought I had forever to get all of my Valentine's ideas out there. Sad to say that it's time to stop! But just a couple more, please! Here are the valentines I made especially for my four grandbabies.
All of the cards use the stamp set Whoo's Your Valentine. If you have young ones in your life, or if you're just young at heart, you may want to purchase this darling stamp set and put it away for next year. You could also use the images without the sayings for birthdays and other occasions.
This card is for Jackson — the youngest of my clan at just 2 months old. I borrowed the branch from Cheep Talk stamp set for the cute little Valentines owl to sit upon. When I mounted the owl and the saying, I cut them apart so that I could mount them separately and use them with or without each other. The designer papers come from the Sale-A-Bration Designer Series Paper Pad Welcome Neighbor that is free with a $50 purchase. I added some scrumptious 3/4" Polka Dot Grosgrain Ribbon. I love that this is two sided. When all the ribbon being polka dots is too much for your card, you can just use the other side that is beautifully stitched in white down both sides! The image is colored in with Stampin' Write Markers, and the color scheme is Chocolate Chip, Real Red, Pumpkin Pie, Crushed Curry and Old Olive.

Next is a darling train card for both of the bigger boys — Liam age 2 and Landon age 10 mos. I got the color scheme from the heart designer paper, again from the Welcome Neighbor paper pad. It's Bermuda Bay, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie and Real Red. I colored in the train with my Stampin' Write Markers and added a Red Corduroy Button for interest.

And finally, here's a card for the little Princess of the family, Quinn. She's my only chance to use "girly" colors, so my color scheme is Melon Mambo, Pretty in Pink and Eggplant Envy. The heart stamp is from Priceless stamp set and is stamped in Melon Mambo Classic Ink. The sentiment comes from Teeny Tiny Wishes and is stamped in Eggplant Envy Classic Ink then punched out with the Modern Label Punch. I didn't have any Melon Mambo brads, so I used the circles from the grid on the Mat Pack and colored them in with a Melon Mambo Stampin' Write Marker, then mounted the piece on Dimensionals. I tied snips of different matching ribbons to the sucker stick — Melon Mambo Polka Dot Grosgrain, Pretty in Pink Grosgrain and the Elegant Eggplant rick-rack from the Orchard Ribbon Originals.

Splitcoast Challenge and Dooney & Bourke
Normally, I'm with my grandson on Mondays, but since I have a wicked cold, I'm home today. There's just so much laying around on the couch one can do! So I checked out Splitcoast Stampers for a bit of inspiration and found out that today's challenge is "Clean and Simple Cards". There was a layout challenge to make a simple card with 3 repeated objects across the front. I needed a bit more inspiration (maybe it's the headcold!) so I decided to check out Nordstrom's website and look for cool purses. Here's a Dooney & Bourke purse I found that I thought was fun:
Now here's my card combining these two ideas:

I decided to turn the ducks on the Dooney bag into hearts for a Valentine's Day card. I looked around for an outline heart stamp and didn't have one — but I did have the Full Heart Punch! I punched out a template and used Stampin' Write Markers in the colors they showed in the bag to trace around the heart, creating the background. Then a quick punch of three of the colors for the solid images. The clear mount Well Scripted stamp set came in very handy again, since there wasn't any room to spare as I stamped on the Yoyo Yellow heart with Brilliant Blue. I was able to get it lined up perfectly! I popped that heart up on Dimensionals, added a piece of Tempting Turquoise 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon, and layered it on a background of Sahara Sand to replicate the handles and trim of the bag.
THINGS YOU'LL NEED:
Item No. 118601 Well Scripted stamp set $14.95
Item No. 113693 Full Heart punch $15.95
Item No. 105541 Many Marvelous Markers $125.95, or individual markers at $3.25 each
Item No. 109038 Tempting Turquoise 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon

All-Day Fabric Class Part 2
At the All-Day Fabric Class on Saturday, Aly made these adorable favors for each gal who attended. Aren't they darling? Aly used the Priceless stamp set and stamped in Basic Gray, Going Gray and Real Red Classic Ink. She added lots of interest by using a Pink Corduroy Button, a piece of 1" Double-Stitched Grosgrain Ribbon in Real Red and Gray Taffeta Ribbon tied around the bottle. She punched out the raw white vinyl with the Heart to Heart Punch and added a sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. Thanks, Aly!

Here are some of the creative cards that were swapped at the class.
Debbie Rought of Middlesex, NY, made this clever card. She used the Ornament Punch and Delightful Decorations stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog to create the flower! Now, that's thinking out of the box!

Next is a card from Jacki Wrubel. She heat embossed the image from Baroque Motifs stamp set and added flowers cut from the Big Shot.

Next up is a quick and easy yet very attractive card from Tina Newton of Canandaigua, NY. Tina used Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack and Sweet Pea Stitched Felt accents from the Occasions Mini Catalog. With beautiful paper like this, you don't have to do much else for a "wow" factor!

And finally, I'll share a super card from Patty Braun. She chose to feature the stamp set Chocolate Bunny from the Occasions Mini Catalog. The sentiment comes from With All My Heart stamp set from the same catalog.

Friday is a big day – don't forget to check back here in the morning for the Catty Cruise Blog Tour of the Occasions Mini Catalog. I'll be featuring ideas to use the Eggcellent Eggs Kit found on page 23 of that catalog.

Stampin’ Up! Joins Haitian Disaster Relief

On January 12, 2010 a magnitude 7.0 earthquake struck Haiti, leaving in its wake devastation so overwhelming that the Haitian people and their leaders can only look for help from the outside to cope. From now until February 28, 2010, $2 from every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set sold will be donated to the American Red Cross' Haiti Releif and Development Fund. More from The Heartfelt Stampers
Here are two more cards from The Heartfelt Stampers team swap for Valentine's Day card ideas.
This card comes from Jacki Wrubel from Churchville, NY. She used the Love You Much stamp set along with the Big Shot Swirls Scribbles Sizzlits Die to create this fun card.

This next card was created by Patty Braun. Patty used Pick a Petal stamp set for this "not so typical" Valentine's Day card. Notice the fun ribbon center on her card; I'll be showing you how to make this great accent in upcoming workshops and posts.

Valentine’s Day cards from The Heartfelt Stampers
I'm very fortunate to have wonderful team members who give me lots of creative ideas for stamping! Here are just a few.
The first card is from Jen Rios-Raner of Penn Yan, NY. Jen always has such detail in her cards! Notice the paper piercing in the top corner, the multiple layers of circled around the "E" and textured background on the red card stock. I love her use of the 1-1/4"Wide Striped Grosgrain Ribbon in Basic Black. The sentiment comes from Always stamp set and the "E" is from Lovely Letters Alphabet stamp set. Colors are Barely Banana, Real Red and Basic Black.

This next card is from Debbie Rought of Middlesex, NY. This picture doesn't do Debbie's beautiful card justice — I had a hard time photographing the great texture that she got using the Elegant Bouquet Textured Embossing Folder with the Big Shot. Debbie kept it simple with a red and white palette with a hint of bling using a red rhinestone brad from the Circle Fire Rhinestone Brad package. The hearts were quick and easy using the Stampin' Up! heart punches, and the saying is from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set. I love that Debbie used a Stampin' Write Marker in Real Red to color in the centers of the embossed flowers. Wonderful touch! Stay tuned for more great cards from the Team!

Valentine’s Day card ideas
Now that Christmas is behind us, it's time to start preparing for the next holiday. Here's a card I made for a Team Swap we did in December and the theme was preparing for Valentine's Day. I'll share mine now and then some of the other team members' cards later.

The base of the card is Pretty in Pink – I'm sure that's going to be used a lot in the next couple of months! I created the left side of the card by using a strip of Rose Red Patterns Designer Series Paper and punching Whisper White card stock with the Eyelet Border Punch. I layered on top a narrow piece of Chocolate Chip card stock, tied with the Rose Red and Pretty in Pink 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbons and Chocolate Chip Taffeta. The circles are cut with the Circle Scissors Plus. The hearts are from the Love You Much stamp set. I stamped them in Whisper White Craft ink on Chocolate Chip card stock, then sprinkled on white embossing powder and heat embossed with the Heat Tool. These darling little hearts line up exactly with the Heart to Heart Punch which made it easy as can be to cut them out. The two larger ones are attached with Dimensionals. The sentiment is from Curvy Verses, one of my all-time favorite greeting stamp sets.
