Snapshot and Flashback

Snapshot and Flashback

I love going to the Stampin’ Up! Inspire Create Share event (formerly known as Convention) for so many reasons.  And one of the reasons is all of the loot I come home with!  Here’s a picture of me packing to come home and all that I had to figure out how to put in my suitcase!

Loot from Convention_edited-1

Isn’t that crazy?!  So many wonderful Stampin’ Up! products completely free!  And tucked in there somewhere is the single stamp called Snapshot – the cute camera that is great for both card making and scrapbooking.  I’ve paired it with Flashback Designer Series Paper, as well as the sentiment from Hip Notes stamp set.

Here’s another project I created using Flashback DSP - you’ll want to pick up some today (July 31st) before the DSP sale is over!

I used my Aqua Painter and Crushed Curry Stamp Pad to color in the camera.

Pool Party 1/4″ Cotton Ribbon and a Real Red Candy Dot are all the accessories you need for this quick and easy card.

Snapshot and Flashback closeup

You might have noticed how glossy and 3-D the center of the camera lens is.  That’s because I used a big ole blob of Crystal Effects in the center to give it dimension and shine.  It took a while to dry, but I think this easy addition packs a wow.

DSP sale

Today is the final day to take advantage of the Stampin’ Up! Buy 3 Get 1 Free Designer Series Paper Sale.  Pick up some Flashback designer paper as well as some of our other great selections.  Click HERE to view them all!

Hey You and What’s Your Type

Hey You and What's Your Type

Today I want to show you another yummy designer series paper – this one is Confetti Celebration with a fun color palette of Basic Gray, Bermuda Bay and Tangelo Twist.  This could definitely work for the man in your life.  And don’t forget – the Buy One Get One Free sale continues on all regular designer series papers.

  • We all like shiny, new toys, right?  So I hadn’t used my Top Note Die with my Big Shot in quite some time.  But it works so well for this layout.
  • You’ll want the new Hey You stamp set from Stampin’ Up! as a wonderful small, basic sentiment set that’s so usable.  It comes with Congrats and Thank You, too, and it’s just $10.95 for clear-mount.
  • You’re definitely going to see lots of cards made with the What’s Your Type photopolymer stamp set!  It’s fast becoming my go to stamp for little accents, and I just love what Stampin’ Up! has done with making it a letter set.  Check out pg. 161 of the Annual Catalog to see how this geometric set is also an alphabet set!  Anyway, for this card, I used the half circle image to stamp a border along the bottom of my card.
  • I’ve added a Candy Dot Brad with Basic Gray Candy Dot, as well as some Bermuda Bay Baker’s Twine as accents.  Did you know that Stampin’ Up! now carries 17 different colors in their Baker’s Twine, with 2 different thicknesses?  That’s a lot of choices!

Embellished Events and Something to Say

Embellished Events and Something to Say

Once again, I’ve turned to my Color Coach for help on today’s card, this time the new 2014-16 In Color Cards.  I want to continue showing you these gorgeous new colors, but I also want to show you that they’re going to coordinate beautifully with all of your existing colors.

  • I looked up Blackberry Bliss and my Color Coach showed me that it matched nicely with Smoky Slate and Melon Mambo.  Then I added just a bit of Hello Honey.
  • I paired an old and a new stamp set together for this birthday card – Embellished Events for the cake image and Something to Say, a brand new sentiment set, for the saying.  The cake is markered direct to the rubber stamp, and I’ve added some Dazzling Details to the flames and a row of Rhinestones to the bottom of the cake plate.  Another Rhinestone decorates the center of the flower created with the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack.
  • Framelits come in so handy, this time to make a quick scallop edge to the Blackberry Bliss cardstock with the Large Scallop Edgelit.
  • You’re going to fall in love with using the new In Color Satin Ribbon!  The colors are beautiful, and it ties so nicely!  Why not join the Ribbon Share and receive 2 yds. each of all 5 of the new In Color ribbons, plus many more!  Check out my Ribbon Share HERE.

Here’s what one happy customer says about my Ribbon Shares:

“I got the package of ribbons from the shares in today’s mail.  This may have changed my mind about the new in colors! They are prettier in person than in the catalog or even on sample cards I have seen.  Thanks for all that it takes to make a share possible. I can’t imagine measuring, cutting, and wrapping that much ribbon!”

Just Because

Just Because

Here are some great products that are in the 2013-14 Annual Catalog but are also carrying into the 2014-15 Stampin’ Up! Annual Catalog.  You’re able to purchase all of these products now, but if you need to wait a little bit, you can also purchase most of them after June 2nd.  It’s a quick & easy card, with very few steps and a nice, clean look.

  • I love using a double layer of Whisper White cardstock to set off the look of an easy card.  Be sure to set the top layer apart by using lots of Dimensionals.  I don’t use Sahara Sand much for a neutral, but I think I’m going to start – it was the perfect color!   I cut the Sahara Sand cardstock rectangle using my Stampin’ Trimmer with the Rotary Addition and the Scallop Cutting Blade.  It creates a nice delicate edge to all four sides.
  • The flower is created with three punches – Blossom Punch for the largest, Pansy Punch for the Daffodil Delight layer and a 3/4″ Circle Punch for the center.  You’ll find the designer papers in the following packets – Tangerine Tango from the Brights Collection Paper Stack, Daffodil Delight from Quatrefancy Specialty papers (which is retiring June 1st) and the Pacific Point polka dot, also from the Brights Collection Paper Stack.
  • I use A Dozen Thoughts stamp set so much, and the “just because” sentiment is one of my favorites.  You can see this versatile set used in a get well card HERE.
  • Candy Dots have become my “go to” accessory – they’re easy to use, very affordable and travel well in an envelope.  These are all from the Brights Collection Candy Dots.

Just because closeup

UPDATE:  I just realized that the Quantrefancy Designer Series Paper is 50% off now through June 4th while supplies last!  Item No. 130141 $12.95 now just $6.48!

Petite Petals meets Flowering Flourishes

petite petals and flowering flourishes1
I love how the Petite Petals flowers can work with so many other stamp sets!  Here I’ve paired it with Flowering Flourishes to create the greenery for the sweet Petite Petals flower.  Be sure to get the coordinating Petite Petals Punch to stamp and cut out in a jiff.

  • Color scheme is Smoky Slate, Rich Razzleberry, Old Olive and Crushed Curry.  Don’t forget to use Smoky Slate as your neutral sometimes!  For this get well card, it adds a little subtlety.
  • Fancy Fans Embossing Folder created the pretty background.  I still love using all of the Stampin’ Up! embossing folders to give texture to the cardstock.
  • “Better get better” is from A Dozen Thoughts – a great stamp set for lots of sentiment choices.
  • Rich Razzleberry Candy Dots are the perfect accent to hold the sentiment in place and accent the flower center.

Final Day of FREE Shipping and Another Great Year

Another Great Year Birthday Card

Be sure to place your final orders today for FREE shipping – it’s been crazy this week with everyone getting their orders in for retiring products AND taking advantage of free shipping AND getting free May card kits!

I have a card today that mixes the old with the new.  Another Great Year is a super fun birthday stamp set, with lots of different images.  Here I’ve used the sentiment along with the sweet cupcake.

  • Color scheme is Strawberry Slush, Pool Party, Wild Wasabi, Basic Black and Whisper White – yum!
  • If you don’t already own it, be sure to pick up the Arrows Embossing Folder – I love how both sides look very different!
  • I’ve used the embossing folder with Pool Party Core’dinations cardstock.  Sadly, all of the Core’dinations cardstock are being retired.  I loved using this pretty paper.  Use it “as is” for a textured cardstock look, or use it with a Sanding Tool to rough it up a bit.
  • I’ve used two different sets of framelits on this card – Banners Framelits for the Strawberry Slush cardstock and Deco Label Framelits for the sentiment and Wild Wasabi frame.
The cute cupcake is stamped with Staz-On Ink, punched out with a 1″ Circle Punch (backed by a 1-1/4″ Basic Black cardstock circle) and colored in with Stampin’ Write Markers.  I added a touch of Dazzling Details using a 2-Way Glue Pen to hold it neatly in place.
  • The final touch is some Basic Black 1/8″ Taffeta Ribbon.

Backyard Basics and Venetian Romance

Backyard Basics and Venetian Romance

Good grief – retired products are just FLYING off the shelves at Stampin’ Up!  I made this card 2 days ago to post for you today, and the stamp set for the tulip, Backyard Basics, has already sold out!  It’s important to get your order in right away before your favorites are gone for good!

I’ll show you the cad anyway, because it also includes other great products that are soon to retire.  You could always change the tulip image to something else.

  • I’ve loved the pretty colors in Venentian Romance designer paper, so I started with a piece that is Tangerine Tango and Very Vanilla.
  • The Soft Suede cardstock circle is cut out with the 3-1/2″ Circle Die which is also retiring.
  • The sentiment comes from Delightful Dozen stamp set, also retiring!  Grab this nifty set before it’s gone, too!
  • A Pistachio Pudding Boutique Details accents this card on top of a 1″ Soft Suede cardstock circle.  Be sure to grab these greate embellishments.  We still have a full year with the 2013-15 In Color palette.

For the Birds and Fresh Prints

for the birds wagon

My card today includes an older stamp set paired with a new designer paper.  I love combining things that Stampin' Up! hasn't shown together to create a different look.

  • I started out using Fresh Prints Designer Paper Stack for the paper and to pick up the color scheme – Coastal Cabana, Real Red, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, and a hint of Daffodiil Delight.
  • I love the For the Birds stamp set!  It's a great one especially if you're just starting out because there are so many images and lots of different sentiments.  There's even a stamp for Christmas – click here to see what I've done with it.  Here's what's contained in this great set:

for the birds

  • The very best paper to stamp and watercolor using Stampin' Up!'s stamp pads and Aqua Painter is our Watercolor Paper.  It's so easy to get a nice watercolored image this way!  My second choice in paper for watercoloring is Stampin' Up! Naturals White (Item No. 102316) or Naturals Ivory (Item No. 101849).  The Whisper White and Very Vanilla cardstock are designed to stamp images beautifully, but because of their tight surface, they don't take the water as well.
  • Circles are punched using the 2-1/2" Circle Punch, or you could also use the Circles Framelits.
  • I added some Real Red Stitched Ribbon, a Real Red cardstock flower using the Itty Bitty Punch Pack and added a Daffodil Delight Candy Dot to the center to pull in the yellow from the watercolored image.

Tea Party and Epic Day

tea party

Today's card doesn't have anything I'd consider "new" because it's all from the Annual Catalog, but Tea Party stamp set is new to me!  I hadn't ordered it yet, and I don't know why.  It's so beautiful, and I'm crazy for tea!

  • I started out wanting to use the This and That Epic Day designer paper and found this really cool piece that looks like it could maybe be a ring from a tea mug.
  • Colors are Pool Party, Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake and Whisper White.
  • You'll want the Ovals Collection Framelits to cut out this oval perfectly.  I stamped two in two different colors and layered them.
  • The three flowers in the Floral Fusion Sizzlits are such a great accent.  Here are some other cards where I've used the Floral Fusion Sizzlits accents.
  • I also added a Pool Party button from the Subtles Designer Buttons with a Calypso Coral Candy Dot in the center.
  • The FInishing Touches Edgelit created the lacy border, and I used Crumb Cake Taffeta Ribbon which ties so nicely.
  • Notice the stamping along the right edge?  It's a simply tone-on-tone look but adds another stamped element from the Tea Party collection.

Sweetie Pie

Sweetie Pie

I'm tickled to death with our new Sweetie Pie Photopolymer Stamps – they're so much fun!  Here are the images you receive with both coordinating sets:
Sweetie Pie stamps

There are so many stamps in these two sets and such coordination factor!  I know I won't be sick of these any time soon!

  • Gingham Garden is the perfect designer paper to show of a "girly" card!  I've used two different prints from this pretty packet.
  • Notice the cute doodles on the right-hand side?  That's a stamp from the Sweetie Pie Frames set!  I can imagine using this stamp on lots of different cards.
  • I added some major bling by putting a Rhinestone on every other circle around the mirror.  It didn't photograph so well, but it looks great "in person".
  • The Scallop Trim Border Punch adds a sweet edge, and White Baker's Twine completes the look.
