Saying Goodbye to Daisy

A good friend lost her Daisy Dog last week and this is the card I made for her.  I know how painful it is when we have to say goodbye to a beloved pet, and I'm hoping that sending her a handmade card might let her know how much I'm thinking of her.  I started out by choosing the Build-A-Bear Workshop Pawsitively Prints II Designer Series Paper and building my color scheme around its pretty little flower print – So Saffron, Real Red and Tempting Turquoise.  I used a small piece of both sides of one of the papers, then a piece of Tempting Turquoise card stock to back the main image which is punched from an additional piece of the designer paper using the Two-Step Bird Punch.  The Whisper White card stock circle behind the bird is cut with the Circle Scissors Plus.  A piece of Real Red 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon is wrapped around the image and tied with some white crochet thread.  I used a Real Red Button from the Brights Designer Buttons pack to add a little pizzazz and tied with some Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon through the center.   Don't forget to purchase some Mini Glue Dots - they're the perfect thing to permanently secure your buttons!  The stamping is done tone-on-tone with So Saffron Classic Ink and two different stamp sets – Always for the branches and Word Play for the sentiment.

Silly Get Well Wishes

This little stamp set is just wonderful for all sorts of different get well wishes!  It's called Wellness Wishes and there are three great stamps to choose from.  I started off with a base of Real Red card stock, then ran a piece of 4"x5-1/4" card stock through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The Newsprint Designer Series Paper is a must from this catalog!  I use it for so many looks!  Here it's riding under a piece of Real Red 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon that's been tied with some Basic Black 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon.  I used the Circle Scissor Plus to cut out both the Whisper White and Basic Black card stocks for the main image and used Stampin' Write markers in Real Red and Basic Black to color.  A Real Red Button from the Brights Designer Button pack adds some more interest.

WHEN is Stamp Shoppe? The Stamp Shoppe is open the second Friday and Saturday of every month. Our Grand Opening is on September 10th and 11th! The Stamp Shoppe is open from 6:30 – 9:30 pm on Friday evenings and from 10 am – 1 pm on Saturday mornings. If you're coming to just Card Shoppe OR Scrapbooking Shoppe, you can arrive at any time during the first hour of the Shoppe's opening.  If you're coming to BOTH Card Shoppe and Scrapbooking Shoppe, you'll want to arrive when Stamp Shoppe first opens so that you have enough time for both. Quinn’s 5th Birthday

We celebrated my granddaughter Quinn's 5th birthday yesterday at our new house, and I had so much fun decorating for the only little girl in the family!  Here's the special card I made her.  I started with a 5-1/4"x10-1/2" piece of Melon Mambo card stock, then folded it in half for a 5-1/4"x5-1/4" card that fits perfectly in a Whisper White Medium Square Envelope.  I punched some circles using the 1" Circle Punch and adhered them along the top.  Next is a piece of Blushing Bride card stock that was torn on both edges with some Concord Crush 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon tied around.  The stamping comes from a great birthday set called Crazy for Cupcakes.  I stamped the image in Basic Gray Classic Ink then colored in with a Blender Pen and stamp pads.  I added some white glitter from the Chunky Essentials Stampin' Glitter stack using a touch of glue from the Two-Way Glue Pen for a little bling.  The fun polka dot Concord Crush Designer Series Paper is from the Hostess Level 1 pack.  (Earn this fabulous paper pack free when you host a workshop of $150 or more!)   Now that's about as girly as you can get!

Flower Fancy and Curly Cute

You know that game where you say "If you were stranded on a desert island . . ."?  Well, this card is my version of "If you could only have one image stamp set and one greeting stamp set from the catalog, which ones would you choose?"  Hands down, I choose Flower Fancy — it's the perfect stamp set!  I love that it's two-step stamping and it's so versatile!  And I'm totally lovin' the font in Curly Cute!  Simply gorgeous!  The color scheme is Basic Gray, Tempting Turquoise, Rose Red and Old Olive.  The polka dot designer paper is from Island Oasis Designer Series Paper in the Summer Mini Catalog and is only available through August 31st.  The background gets some added interest using the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine and Perfect Polka Dots Textured Embossing Folder.  And my favorite ribbon?  That would be the 3/8" Taffeta  — on this card Old Olive.  If you're interested in a ribbon that ties PERFECTLY all the time, this is the one to buy!  Try a RIBBON SHARE of the 3/8" Taffeta found HERE!  Old Olive Brads from the Brights Brads collection make the centers of these pretty flowers pop!  And don't forget to use Dimensionals.  Raise the flowers off the front just a tad for added interest.

August Workshop Card

Here's one of the cards we made at a workshop this week.  It uses a gorgeous color combination — Cajun Craze, Old Olive and Night of Navy — along with an equally gorgeous stamp set, Just Believe. I began with a standard 1/2 sheet of 8-1/2"x11" card stock, folded it in half then sliced off 3/4" along the front right edge.  Faux stitching is a breeze with our Mat Pack and Paper-Piercing Tool, along with the Gel Pen.  I ripped a piece of Old Olive card stock, adhered it to a strip of Night of Navy card stock then adhered both along the right side. The main image is off-stamped on Confetti White card stock with Night of Navy stamp pad (simply ink up your image, stamp first on a scrap piece of card stock then onto your "good" card stock without reinking), and the sentiment is stamped in "full-strength" Night of Navy classic ink.  I've torn the bottom edge of the tag and backed it with Old Olive card stock.  I punched a hole in the top and fed through some 1/8" Old Olive Taffeta Ribbon.  I love having Build-A-Brads on hand!  Simply stamp an image from the stamp set on a piece of Confetti White card stock, punch out with a circle punch, adhere it to the brad with SNAIL adhesive and pop on the adhesive acrylic bubble over top to create a custom look.  Here I've used Cajun Craze classic ink.

Not So Typical Baby Card

I really have to do something about my selection of stamps for babies!  I made THIS CARD a couple of months ago because I didn't own a baby set, and now I needed another congrats card for baby and still didn't have a baby stamp!  Oh, well!  What is the saying?  Necessity is the mother of invention!  So here's a cute card to welcome baby using the new Two-Step Owl Punch and Word Play!  The color scheme is Pear Pizzazz, Marina Mist and Early Espresso with just a touch of Cherry Cobbler for the heart and the word "so".  Notice the bottom piece of the main card front?  I used a strip of Pear Pizzazz card stock and dry embossed the circles using the Crop A Dile.  I used this technique when the tool first came out and then sort of forgot about it.  But it's a quick and easy way to add a little "pizzazz" (pun intended!) to your card!  I used the Circle Scissors Plus to cut both the large white circle as well as the Marina Mist frame.  This handy tool has also been collecting a bit of dust lately, and I'm not sure why!  It's a wonderful tool to create any size circle you need.  The owl is perched happily on a branch from Cheep Talk stamp set, and I used Stampin' Write Markers direct to rubber.  The sentiment from Word Play was stamped in Early Espresso Classic Ink directly on the card then again in Cherry Cobbler on Whisper White card stock and cut out to highlight the word "so".
