New Summer Mini Products

You're going to LOVE the new Summer Mini Catalog products!  As a demonstrator, I'm able to pre-order merchandise from this fantastic publication in order to get ready for my May workshops.  Here's a card I created using many new items.

I began with a base of River Rock card stock!  Yes, I said RIVER ROCK!  With the new color renovation (HERE), we are bringing back this terrific neutral color that was an In Color a couple of years ago.  You'll be able to purchase the card stock, ink, reinker and marker on July 1st.  I stamped the background with Sanded background stamp and Chocolate Chip Classic Ink.  Next came a piece of Chocolate Chip card stock, then Baja Breeze card stock run through the Big Shot using the Stampin' Up Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates.  Yes, BAJA BREEZE is making a comeback as well!  This was such a popular In Color and it's returning on July 1st also!

To add more interest, I used a new product called Smooch Spritz in the color "Log Cabin" to put some shimmer in the background.  It doesn't photograph as shimmer, but this is a pearlized accent spray that will add a dash of color to any project.  They come in a ready-to-use spray applicator and are great for cards, scrapbook pages, chipboard and more.

I'm highlighting a brand new stamp set called Sentimental Journey.  Purchase this great new stamp set in either wood mount or clear mount and stamp for all different occasions — this would be great for masculine cards and wonderful for scrapbooking your favorite trip.  The suitcase was stamped in Chocolate Chip Craft Ink.  I added some Clear Embossing Powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool.  A Chocolate Chip Jumbo Brad with a So Saffron card stock circle behind ties well with the circles created around the suitcase image.

All Summer Mini Catalog items are available on May 1st, either through contacting me at krisshuels@gmail.com or by direct online ordering at my Online Store at www.stampwithkriss.stampinup.net.  I'll be posting the Summer Mini Catalog in my right-hand side bar on May 1st, so be sure to look through it online.  If you'd like a "hard copy" of the Catalog, please contact me, and I'll see that you get one.

Touch and Feel Birthday Card

My grandson Landon is really in to the touch and feel board books right now.  And that was my inspiration for this fun birthday card!

I combined four of my favorite In Colors to create this card — Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo.  Each layer has something to "touch and feel" — lots of texture!  I ran the Bermuda Bay card stock through the Big Shot using the diamond Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plate.  TIP:  Spritz your card stock with water before using the texturz plates to get a crisper image.  Next came some Textured Crushed Curry card stock then Melon Mambo card stock stamped with Craft Black ink then Black Embossing Powder and heat embossed using the Heat Tool.  (The cat image is done in the same way.)  The main image combines two sets — C is for Cat and Four Square for the "happy birthday" sentiment.  I added some more texture with a crochet flower from Fleurettes II and a Clear Rhinestone Brad.

Valentine’s Day card ideas

Now that Christmas is behind us, it's time to start preparing for the next holiday.  Here's a card I made for a Team Swap we did in December and the theme was preparing for Valentine's Day.  I'll share mine now and then some of the other team members' cards later.

The base of the card is Pretty in Pink – I'm sure that's going to be used a lot in the next couple of months!  I created the left side of the card by using a strip of Rose Red Patterns Designer Series Paper and punching Whisper White card stock with the Eyelet Border Punch.  I layered on top a narrow piece of Chocolate Chip card stock, tied with the Rose Red and Pretty in Pink 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbons and Chocolate Chip Taffeta.  The circles are cut with the Circle Scissors Plus.  The hearts are from the Love You Much stamp set.  I stamped them in Whisper White Craft ink on Chocolate Chip card stock, then sprinkled on white embossing powder and heat embossed with the Heat Tool.  These darling little hearts line up exactly with the Heart to Heart Punch which made it easy as can be to cut them out.  The two larger ones are attached with Dimensionals.  The sentiment is from Curvy Verses, one of my all-time favorite greeting stamp sets.

Bearing Gifts Christmas Card

I'm just tickled with the way this card turned out!  I played a color challenge where the colors to use were Barely Banana, Rich Razzleberry and Always Artichoke.  Well, I "choked" on the "Artichoke" and had to use Old Olive instead!  Here's my card:

Don't you just LOVE these colors together for Christmas!  I started out using a base card stock of Rich Razzleberry and stamped it with the same color ink with the Sanded background stamp.  Next came my Circle Scissors Plus, and I cut one circle from Barely Banana card stock and the other a bit smaller from the pretty pine print from Merry Moments Designer Series Paper.  The Circle Scissors Plus makes layering circles as easy as can be!  I mounted that on Dimensionals and added a Jumbo Paper Clip from the Assorted Clips packet tied with Old Olive 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon and Rich Razzleberry 1/2" Polka Dot Ribbon.  Next came my main image, stamped from Bearing Gifts.  This is a single stamp in the Holiday Mini Catalog and sells for just $8.95.  I stamped the image in VersaMark, then sprinkled on Black Embossing Powder and used my Heat Tool to set it.  I colored the images in with a Blender Pen and my stamp pads in Rich Razzleberry, Barely Banana, Old Oive and Close to Cocoa.  The image has a "To" and "From" where I stamped "Merry Christmas", so I just covered those words with a Post-It Note before inking my stamp.  Just remember to remove the mask before stamping on the paper!  Then the "Merry Christmas" is stamped in Close to Cocoa Classic ink to match the bear.  It comes from Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp set.  That's mounted on Old Olive card stock and then adhered with Dimensionals.

Here's a close-up of the embossing and coloring.

Bella Toile meets Vera Bradley

I decided to try a new design challenge this morning.  The challenge is to design a clean and simple card using this Vera Bradley purse as inspiration.  At first, I thought I'd like to use the Medallion background stamp, but I quickly saw that it wasn't the right feel.  So I pulled out another background stamp, Bella Toile, which I haven't ever used!

So here's my card:

Now, remember, the challenge was to make a SIMPLE card!  My card base is Confetti White card stock and meaasures 5" x 5".  Next is a layer of Ruby Red card stock  The Chocolate Chip card stock has been heat embossed using Bella Toile background stamp stamped in Craft Whisper White ink then sprinkled with White Embossing Powder.  The Stampin' Up! Heat Tool is just the thing to get a beautifully embossed image.  I layered that onto an additional piece of Confetti White card stock, then used some of my rubber scraps to pop that image up.  The sentiment comes from Sincere Salutations and the small flower is from One of a Kind.  I used the Wide Scallop Punch to punch out the image after doing the stamping.  But I didn't have an additional larger punch to border that with.  So I adhered the white oval to a piece of Ruby Red card stock and carefully cut around it freehand.  My Paper Snips really did their job!  I think it turned out pretty straight–maybe not perfect, but certainly good enough!  That image is adhered to the card with Dimensionals.

Item No. 111598 Bella Toile background stamp   $17.95
Item No,. 111101 One of a Kind stamp set   $19.95

And the Christmas Card Ideas Keep Coming!

Here we go with some more terrific Christmas Card ideas!  This post will wrap up all the great Christmas card ideas from The Heartfelt Stampers team of Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  I feel l like I should say "and let's give these ladies a hand"!  Didn't they do a great job?

The first is from Debbie Rought of Middlesex, NY.  Debbie paired the Level 1 hostess stamp set Holiday Best with the trio of snowflakes from Serene Snowflakes stamp set for a great look.  The Big Shot and the Top Note Die made short work of creating this card, and Debbie did a wonderful job adding interest with the different layers, sponging, cotton ribbon and beads from the Red Bead Duo.

This card comes from Jacki Wrubel and uses the Sweet Treat Cups to make a "wow" statement!  Jacki stamped the Christmas image from the Level 1 hostess stamp set Holiday Best behind the cup, then filled it with artificial snow!  How fun is that?  Jacki's tree image is from Lovely as a Tree, still a fabulous stamp set after being in the Stampin' Up! catalog for years.  She stamped the tree with VersaMark added Iridescent Ice embossing powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool.

Next up is a card with a lot of interest!  Melissa created this fabulous card using Cold & Cuddly stamp set from the Holiday Mini Catalog.  I love her unusual color scheme; this card wouldn't be strictly for Christmas, but would work for any winter occasion.  Melissa took lots of time stamping then cutting out each individual component.  One of the "coolest" (no pun intended) ideas with this card is stamping the pieces of ice onto glossy card stock — what a great look!

Great Technique Christmas Cards

Here are some more great cards from the Heartfelt Stampers team of Stampin' Up! demonstrators.  If you've missed the other card ideas, scroll down through past posts — you won't want to miss all these terrific cards!

Dionne Wallington. a team member in Florida, chose this beautiful color combination of Rich Razzleberry and Brushed Silver to create a very elegant card.  The greeting is from a stamp set called All Holiday that is just that — sentiments you can use throughout the year.  Dionne stamped both the greeting and the snowflakes with VersaMark ink, then poured on silver embossing powder and heat set it with the Heat Tool.  She added a Clear Rhinestone Brad to the corner to complete her look.

Did you know that there are now new hostess stamp sets to choose from in the Holiday Mini Catalog?  And what better way to start your Christmas card making than to host a workshop and earn your stamp set free!  Here's a great card using Patterned Pines Level 1 hostess stamp set, along with some paper from Merry Moments Designer Series Paper.  The sentiment comes from Short & Sweet stamp set.  To create a two-colored stamped image, stamp first in Real Red Classic ink, then using the Blender Pen, wipe away the red on the stars, then add Summer Sun by using a Stampin' Write Marker.  This method is much easier than using markers throughout when you're changing just a bit of color on the stamp.  (This card wasn't signed, so I don't know who gets the credit!)
