Bloomin’ Love Valentine

Bloomin Love Valentine

We’ve all fallen in love with the Love Blossoms bundle in the Stampin’ Up! 2016 Occasions Catalog!  The Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies are delicate and detailed and oh, so pretty!  But let’s explore the pretty Bloomin’ Love stamp set a bit more!  For this card, I didn’t use the large heart thinlit, but I did use the two small flower thinlits that are also contained in the set.

  • Like so often, my color scheme comes from the Love Blossoms designer paper that is part of the Love Blossoms suite – Blushing Bride, Crumb Cake (I changed it to Sahara Sand), Garden Green, Rose Red and Whisper White.
  • I’ve used a piece of that designer paper 2″ wide to set the stage.  Sahara Sand Lace borders the edge – use Fast Fuse Adhesive to hold the lace to the back of the designer paper.
  • The Garden Green tag gets its pretty topper from the Ornate Tag Topper Punch.
  • I stamped the heart image from the Bloomin’ Love stamp set in Garden Green ink on Whisper White cardstock.  There isn’t a framelit to cut this heart shape, so I just “fussy cut” around the image with my Paper Snips.
  • I added a bit of Sahara Sand Lace and White Baker’s Twine through the top.

Bloomin Love Valentine closeup

  • Flowers are cut out using the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies in both Rose Red and Blushing Blossom cardstock.  They’re adhered at different levels using either SNAIL Adhesive or Dimensionals.
  • I added Pearl Jewels to each flower center.

Bloomin Love Valentine inside

  • No room for a sentiment on the front of the card, but that’s okay – you have the full inside of the card to say what you’d like!  And you can also dress it up with leftover designer paper to coordinate with the front.

Groovy Kind of Love Valentine

Groovy L ove Valentine

Our next card-giving holiday is Valentine’s Day, and it’s my favorite holiday for which to create cards.  This year, Stampin’ Up! has given us so many Valentine’s Day products, both in the new 2016 Occasions Catalog and in the larger Annual Catalog, I’m not sure I’ll be able to show them all!

  • For this card, I’m once again combining the old and the new.  Groovy Love is a – well – “groovy” stamp set in the Annual Catalog that coordinates with the Sweetheart Punch.  I love all the different images and sentiments in this one set – it could keep you busy for a long time!
  • In the Occasions Catalog, there is a paper stack called Have A Cuppa.  It goes with our tea suite and it is so adorable!  But I thought I’d wait until Mother’s Day to show all of the cuteness to this suite.  Looking through the papers, I noticed that there are several pieces with hearts, so it’s perfect for Valentine’s Day, too!  And as always, using Stampin’ Up! designer paper gives you a “no-brainer” color scheme for your card.  I just picked up the colors in the designer paper to use as my solids – Melon Mambo, Bermuda Bay and Smoky Slate (although the designer paper is Basic Gray, but I wanted a lighter feel).
  • A really pretty new accent in the Occasions Catalog are the Botanical Gardens Jewels.  It’s a pretty silver flower with attached rhinestone in the center.  I’m going with the “flower power” idea on my groovy card!
  • It’s really fun to create custom-sized cards so that you’re not always locked into filling the standard space.  This card measures 3-1/2″ x 6″ so that I could take advantage of a longer, thinner card front.  And I can easily create the perfect-sized envelope using the Envelope Punch Board.  All I needed was an 8″ x 8″ piece of cardstock and the instructions on the board.  I like Multipurpose Adhesive to put my envelope together.  And while you’re making your envelope, you can use the Punch Board to round the corners on the designer paper – a two-in-one tool!

Groovy Love Valentine alone

  • Here’s a close-up photo so you can see the Botanical Garden Jewels accessory a little better.  They’re super easy to use – just adhere with a Glue Dot.  Pick up a container or two on your next order!

Bloomin’ Heart Love You

Bloomin Heart Valentine

Stampin’ Up! has really outdone themselves with the 2016 Occasions Catalog!  It’s going “live” to customers tomorrow, January 5th!  And my card features a couple of my top picks from our new publication – the Love Blossoms Suite, including a Bundle & Save 15% opportunity to purchase the Bloomin’ Love photopolymer stamp set and the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlits Dies.

  • You’re going to just love the Blushing Bride Glimmer Paper – so, so pretty!  I’ve cut it out using the Bloomin’ Heart Thinlit Die with the Big Shot.  The Precision Base Plate and a new product – the Die Brush – will make it super simple to get your glimmer paper heart out of the thinlit frame.
  • I really like combining existing merchandise with new products to give a fresh look.  This background is the Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the Big Shot.
  • In the Bloomin’ Love stamp set, you’ll receive this pretty banner frame along with 4 different sentiments that fit inside – perfect for sending love to anyone in your life!  There’s a coordinating banner framelit in the Large Numbers Framelits Dies, or you can snip by hand using your Paper Snips.  Be sure to pop it up on Dimensionals!
  • A pretty little Black Satin Ribbon bow is all the accessorizing you’ll need!

Let it Snow!

Let It Snow

I don’t know what could be sweeter than penguins for a winter card!   Snow Place stamp set with coordinating Snow Friends Framelits by Stampin’ Up! are just the ticket for lots of cute winter cards, with lots of fun sentiments that will take you through the long season (at least long here in Central New York!).

  • Two of my favorite Stampin’ Up! blues that coordinate beautifully are Soft Sky in the Subtles Collection and Lost Lagoon, one of the 2014-16 In Colors.  Add some neutrals white and black and you’re good to go!
  • One Stampin’ Up! product that is a super deal and will get you a ton of choices are the Color Collection Designer Series Paper Stacks.  There are 4 fresh prints to choose from in all of the colors of the collection of your choice.  Here I’ve chosen the Soft Sky polka dot in the Subtles Collection packet.
  • New to the 2015 Holiday Catalog is the Curvy Corner Punch.  You’re able to create three different types of punches with this one handy punch.  Here I’ve used it for the two top corners of the Lost Lagoon cardstock.

Let it Snow closeup

  • Our sweet accent on this card is a combination of Snowflake Element, an Iced Rhinestone Embellishment and pieces of 1-1/4″ White Jute Ribbon.  Use Fast Fuse to adhere the Ribbon to the Glimmer Paper.
  • I’ve added a Dazzling Diamonds Glimmer Paper Circle to hold the pretty embellishment motif.
  • Rhinestones were added to complete the stamped snowflakes.

Pretty Petals and a great layout

Watercolor wings

I love having a super sketch to start out my card designs!  And the folks at Mojo Monday have a great new sketch every week.  Here was the sketch for last week:

Mojo407sketch

  • See how quick and easy your cards come together with a wonderfully balanced layout?  I’ll tell you a bit about my card in case you want to duplicate it.
  • Another fabulous tool to quick and easy cards are the designer papers from Stampin’ Up!  This card features Pretty Petals Designer Series Paper Stack, which comes in a 6″x6″ packet – 48 sheets, 4 each of 12 double-sided designs.  The possibilities are endless!  I chose the butterflies and then simply built my color scheme around that paper.  And the little butterfly is punched out of another pattern using the Bitty Butterfly Punch.  Here are some of the other terrific patterns:

Pretty Petals DSP

  • And here’s a link to view another card I made using Pretty Petals – click HERE to view.
  • The 3/8″ Stitched Satin Ribbon has been a terrific addition to our new Annual Catalog.  Here I’ve used Pacific Point to coordinate.
  • The heartfelt sentiment comes from Watercolor Wings stamp set.  It’s my most favorite new stamp!  Who wouldn’t like to receive a card acknowledging how precious life’s moments are with them!
  • All three circles come from Stampin’ Up! Punches – 1″, 1-3/4″ and 2″.  The Pacific Point and Old Olive cardstock circles are run through the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder for some added texture.
  • My accessories continue with a small Pearl and Rhinestone, as well as some Gold Thread behind the sentiment.

Mother’s Day and Mother’s Love

bestmotherever_edited-1

Mother’s Day is just around the corner – a few short days away – but we celebrated Mother’s Day last Saturday night by going out to dinner with our whole family to one of our favorite restaurants.  I made this card for my lovely daughter and daughter-in-law, and while each mom has her own “style”, both of them are the best moms to my beautiful grandchildren!

  • The 2014 Annual Catalog is nearing an end, and with it goes all of our gorgeous Stampin’ Up! designer series paper, like this one called Flowerpot.  I’ll see if I can use a bit up and show you more things to do with your scraps before the end of the catalog on June 2nd!
  • You know how I like circles – I think I use them on just about every card!  And this one is all about circles cut with the Circles Framelits and the Big Shot.  Stampin’ Up! does all the work for us by giving us beautifully coordinated pieces.  All you need to do is cut a bunch of different sizes and arrange them artfully on your cardstock.  The top left circle is simply Not Quite Navy cardstock run through the Big Shot with the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder just to give it another look.
  • Don’t forget to use lots of Dimensionals – the different heights are essential to make this card really interesting!
  • “Best mother ever” comes from And Many More stamp set – a great staple with 23 greeting stamps for all occasions.
  • Make the sweet flower accent using the Flower Frenzy Bigz Die and the Big Shot.  This die is retiring and available only while supplies last AND it’s 50% off!!!!  Price is marked down from $37.95 to $18.98!!!
  • And Stampin’ Up! always has just the right accent!  A Garden Green Candy Dot from the Regals Collection is all you need to set off this pretty flower.
  • Don’t forget to line your envelope with this pretty paper – the Envelope Liner Framelits and the Big Shot make it so quick and easy!

Your Perfect Day

your perfect day

Time to start thinking about wedding cards – June is the biggest wedding month of the year!  Stampin’ Up! has a couple of really nice wedding stamp sets in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  Today I’m featuring Your Perfect Day.  And remember – you only have until June 2nd to order from the Occasions Catalog!

  • As with many of my cards, I began with a great wedding designer paper called Something Borrowed.  It contains various prints in Sahara Sand and Whisper White, perfect for adding your own wedding color scheme.  And with more sheets of each design, this paper is great for creating multiple projects, like wedding save the date, invitations or thank you cards.
  • The cake image is stamped with StazOn Ink, then a slight bit of coloring was done with the Aqua Painter and Sahara Sand Stamp Pad.
  • A piece of Doily peeks out of the side for a little soft interest.
  • I also used the Corner Rounder on the two right-hand corners.  This little addition can change up the look of your card so much!
  • The sweet hearts on the cake come from the Heart Border Punch.  I added tiny Pearls to each.
  • Stampin’ Up! Blushing Bride Cotton Ribbon is so soft and easy to tie.  Here I added a second piece to have a double knotted ribbon look.

Guy Greetings and Hats Off

S&C1

It’s that time of year again!  Time to think about the men in our lives and get ready for Father’s Day in June.  And Stampin’ Up! has released two perfect products for masculine cards – both in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.

  • Our designer paper and color scheme come from the Adventure Bound Designer Series Paper Stack.  This beautiful paper has lots of plaids and neutrals on one side and real-life nature elements on the other.  This piece is Island Indigo, Basic Gray and Smoky Slate.
  • I used the Oval Framelits to cut Whisper White cardstock for the main image and a border of Basic Black cardstock.  The Whisper White cardstock is offstamped using Smoky Slate ink and the Dictionary background stamp.  Just ink up your stamp with Smoky Slate ink, stamp onto a scrap piece of paper then onto your oval so that the ink is light and it creates a background for the hats.
  • This fun stamp set is called Guy Greetings.  If you’re going to purchase just one stamp set for all the guys in your life, this is the one.  It comes complete with lots and lots of sentiments and some really great old-fashioned images.  And good news – you can choose between all three stamp types for this set.  Choose wood mount, clear mount or photopolymer!  Here I stamped the hats image and sentiment in Black Memento Ink.
  • I used my Stampin’ Pierce Mat and Paper-Piercing Tool to set the Silver Brads.  You can’t see it very well in the photo, but the black oval is paper pierced as well using the Occasions Paper-Piercing Template.  This great product is on the retiring products list, so be sure to grab yours before it’s gone!

Sheltering Tree Thinking of You

Sheltering Tree Thank You

Sheltering Tree stamp set by Stampin’ Up! has been one of the most popular stamp sets in the 2015 Occasions Catalog.  And with good reason!  There are so many pieces to this stamp set – 14 in all – to create trees for all seasons and holidays.  You’ll find an additional card I made using this stamp set HERE.  There are really minimal materials for this simple card – the fun is in the stamp set and all the different components you’ll be able to use!

  • I’ve used the cloud print from Sweet Dreams Designer Series Paper to replicate a backdrop of sky.  This gorgeous paper isn’t just for babies!
  • Stamping in two tones of green really brings the tree to life.  I first used Pear Pizzazz ink then stamped over it with the same bitty stamp I used for the flowers using Old Olive ink.
  • Thinking of you sentiment comes with the stamp set, and is perfect for any occasion – or no occasion at all!  Time and again I hear that people are so thankful to receive a hand-stamped card.
  • A simple clip from Basics Hodgepodge collection holds a small piece of Calypso Coral ribbon to the edge – don’t forget to use Dimensionals so that you have room for the clip to ride behind the image.
  • The card base is Soft Suede – a pretty shade of brown you’ll find in the Neutrals Collection.

Best Day Ever – 2015 Sale-A-Bration

Best Day Ever

There are so many terrific Stampin’ Up! special products that you can take free.  But remember, this is the final month for Sale-A-Bration, the biggest sales event of the year!  Be sure to stock up on all of your basic consumables this month – things like adhesive, cardstock and envelopes – to earn free products.

Today I’m featuring the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Best Day Ever.  And good news – you can choose wood mount, clear mount or photopolymer!  Here are all of the images you’ll receive with this great little set –

best day ever stamp set

  • I wanted to try a rainbow effect with my color scheme, but was tired of the traditional bright colors.  Just for fun, I tried combining 2 Subtles colors (Pear Pizzazz and Calypso Coral) with 3 Regals colors (Rose Red, Crushed Curry and Island Indigo) for a bit of a different look.
  • I stamped each color of flower, turning the petals so that the striped one ended up in a different place each time.
  • Do you sometimes need more Black Candy Dots than all the rest of the neutrals color pack?  I definitely go through them more quickly!  For this card, I used the Very Vanilla Candy Dots (which I don’t seem to use very often) and colored them black with a sharpie.  It worked great!
  • Don’t forget to pop the main image up on Dimensionals!
