Gently Falling Card Set

Have I got a treat for you today!!!!  I have an ENTIRE Fall card set project to show.  I designed this card set for my September demonstrator team Stamp & Chat that I hold once a quarter.  The idea behind this set of cards is to choose a small selection of Stampin' Up! products to showcase throughout all of the cards so that my team could then offer this as a class for their customers.  I designed each card to teach an easy technique (or two!).  With the exception of a few small additions, I chose to focus on Spice Cake Designer Series Paper, Gently Falling stamp set, Perfectly Penned stamp set for the 4 sentiments, a roll of Pool Party Ruffled Ribbon and a package of Basic Pearls.  The cards and 4 Very Vanilla envelopes all fit nicely in the file folder card case featuring a Spice Cake Designer Button.

The first card features a "rock and roll" method for creating the two-toned leave of More Mustard and Pool Party (really 3-toned when counting the second stamp in Soft Suede).  Dazzling Details gives the leaf an iridescent glitter.  I also showed how to create the ribbon rose by twisting the ribbon and laying it into Sticky Sheets.  Leaves are punched using the 5-Petal Flower Punch.

This card shows how to gather the ribbon into a row of Sticky Strip for an interesting look, as well as layering our 5/8" Jumbo Brads with a card stock circle and a pearl for added interest.  Postage Stamp Punch is used for the designer paper.

This card highlights the beautiful two-step stamping of the Gently Falling stamps.  Torn edges around the Get Well sentiment add some more interest.  The pearls were lost on the busy background designer paper, so I backed them with Pool Party card stock circles created with the Itty Bitty Punch Pack.  The Eyelet Border Punch gave the More Mustard background some pop.

The final card in the set uses Post-It notes to mask around the edges of the background of the leaf then sponging Crumb Cake Classic Ink inside.  Stamp the leaf image over the top using Soft Suede Classic Ink.

Get Well Soon

This yummy designer paper called Pocketful of Posies had me at "hello"!  Everything about it is so unexpected – the prints as well as the beautiful color combinations.  This card features one of my favorite pieces contained in the packet, and I picked up colors in it for the rest of the card.  I began with Elegant Eggplant card stock for the card base, then added Baja Breeze card stock that was run through the Big Shot with the Stripes Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  I LOVE this new, versatile folder and you will, too!  A piece of Perfect Plum 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon divides the two papers, and the 3D flower is made with the Fun Flowers die and the Big Shot using Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant card stocks.  Behind the flower is a white doily from the Flirtatious Designer Series Paper pack; there are Melon Mambo and Pumpkin Pie doilies in the packet, but both are white on the back.  The center is a Daffodil Delight button from the Brights Designer Buttons with some Real Red 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon in the center.  The sentiment is from Delightful Dozen stamp set, sure to be one of your favorite greetings sets this year!  It fits neatly in the 1-3/8" Circle Punch.  This card uses papers from TWO different packages of Designer Series Papers – check out the sale below!

I made two versions of this card simply by changing the sentiment.  It looks so different!  The first uses Curly Cute stamp set for the sentiment; the second uses the Level 1 hostess stamp set Afterthoughts.  And look!  Did you notice a brand new stamp set for the images?!  It's a stamp set called Bliss, and you'll have an opportunity to earn it free after January 24th!  Yes, it's that time of year again – Sale-A-Bration is just around the corner, and with every $50 you spend, you'll receive your choice of a free stamp set or accessory from a special Sale-A-Bration Catalog!  This perky color scheme is Pear Pizzazz, Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso and Whisper White.  Did you know that your eye catches the color yellow first out of all of the colors in the spectrum?  So remember in your design work that a little yellow goes a long way!  And did you notice my ribbon trick?  Instead of wrapping a large piece of ribbon around the entire card, I cut a small 1/4" piece of Early Espresso card stock, then tied a piece of 1/4" Early Espresso Grosgrain Ribbon around it.

Get Well Tea Pouch

This was an item that people were making a few years back, but I decided to make it again.  I guess I've had a lot of get well items on my mind lately — it seems like everyone has a nasty cold and sinus junk going on!  Instead of sending just a get well card, why not turn your card into a tea holder to make someone feel just a little bit better!  I started with this cute image from Wellness Wishes stamped on Whisper White card stock and colored with an Aqua Painter and Classic Stampin' Pads.  I used some designer paper from Pawsitively Prints Designer Series Paper Pack for both the outside and inside of the tea holder. The Curly Label Punch and Real Red card stock give a cute little accent to the bottom of the image.  Early Espresso 5/8" Grosgrain Ribbon ties the pouch closed.

And here's the pouch opened.  The 1-1/4" Circle Punch makes it easier to slide the tea in and out of the pouch.  You could also insert a white piece of paper on top of the designer paper for a place to write a message, or flip the pouch closed and write on the inside of the So Saffron card stock cover.

Silly Get Well Wishes

This little stamp set is just wonderful for all sorts of different get well wishes!  It's called Wellness Wishes and there are three great stamps to choose from.  I started off with a base of Real Red card stock, then ran a piece of 4"x5-1/4" card stock through the Big Shot using the Square Lattice Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.  The Newsprint Designer Series Paper is a must from this catalog!  I use it for so many looks!  Here it's riding under a piece of Real Red 1-1/4" Striped Grosgrain Ribbon that's been tied with some Basic Black 1/4" Grosgrain Ribbon.  I used the Circle Scissor Plus to cut out both the Whisper White and Basic Black card stocks for the main image and used Stampin' Write markers in Real Red and Basic Black to color.  A Real Red Button from the Brights Designer Button pack adds some more interest.

Flower Fancy and Curly Cute

You know that game where you say "If you were stranded on a desert island . . ."?  Well, this card is my version of "If you could only have one image stamp set and one greeting stamp set from the catalog, which ones would you choose?"  Hands down, I choose Flower Fancy — it's the perfect stamp set!  I love that it's two-step stamping and it's so versatile!  And I'm totally lovin' the font in Curly Cute!  Simply gorgeous!  The color scheme is Basic Gray, Tempting Turquoise, Rose Red and Old Olive.  The polka dot designer paper is from Island Oasis Designer Series Paper in the Summer Mini Catalog and is only available through August 31st.  The background gets some added interest using the Big Shot Die-Cutting Machine and Perfect Polka Dots Textured Embossing Folder.  And my favorite ribbon?  That would be the 3/8" Taffeta  — on this card Old Olive.  If you're interested in a ribbon that ties PERFECTLY all the time, this is the one to buy!  Try a RIBBON SHARE of the 3/8" Taffeta found HERE!  Old Olive Brads from the Brights Brads collection make the centers of these pretty flowers pop!  And don't forget to use Dimensionals.  Raise the flowers off the front just a tad for added interest.

A Look at the Returning In Colors

It's so fun to reconnect with old friends!  Please welcome back some of our favorite In Colors from the past, now becoming Core Colors and staying with us for a good long while!  I'm continuing my grouping of 4" x 4" cards and showing you samples of the colors we've all been missing.  To see a past post on new Core Colors using the same cards, click HERE.  I used Elements of Style to stamp each card, along with sentiments from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Each color name is listed below the card.

Baja Breeze – will be joining our Subtles Collection and is lighter with a bit more green than Bashful Blue.

Riding Hood Red – Just a bit "quieter" than Real Red and not as dark as Cherry Cobbler, this red is sure to fit into lots of your projects!  This beautiful color will join our Regals Collection.

River Rock – Returning in the Neutrals Collection, this color is a chameleon!  Its color changes depending on what it's paired with.  It's probably considered a true khaki.

Wild Wasabi – A lighter version of Garden Green, this gorgeous color is returning as part of the Subtles Collection.

Tangerine Tango – This Brights Collection addition is a combination of Only Orange and Pumpkin Pie.

Pacific Point – One of the most gorgeous blues we've had, this is the updated Brilliant Blue for the Brights Collection.

Get Well Wishes for Sumana

A brave little girl is having surgery today.  I made this card for Sumana Holman, daughter of a friend and team member Cheryl Holman, to let her know I'm thinking of her. 

This card is the first I've made that is a larger greeting card size.  I folded a piece of 8-1/2"x11" Pink Passion card stock in half to create a card that measures 5-1/2"x8-1/2".  I wanted my color scheme to be bright, fun and little girl-friendly, so my palette also included Green Galore, Lovely Lilac, Pumpkin Pie and a piece of designer paper (Chocolate Chip and white polka dot) from the Sweet Pea Designer Series Paper Stack.  I used the embosslits called Cherry Blossom to die cut the flowers using my Big Shot, and the centers of the flowers contain Green Bead Duo beads held in place with Crystal Effects.  The sentiment is from Wellness Wishes stamp set, which you can earn for free during Sale-A-Bration with a $50 purchase.  Click HERE for more details on that promotion.  I used the Extra Large Two-Step Bird Punch from the new Occasions Mini Catalog to make the leaves.  What, you say?  There are no leaves that look like that on the punch?  I just used the bird's wing to make my leaves!
