Just Believe

What a gorgeous new stamp set this is — Just Believe!  There are so many possibilities with all of the pieces you're given.  You'll definitely be seeing this stamp set on my blog again!  When I saw the new color Daffodil Delight, I was interested in pairing it with Night of Navy for a very classic color combo.  Here I've begun with Night of Navy card stock as the card base and stamped the large flower image in the left corner.  Then I added a torn piece of Daffodil Delight designer paper from the Brights Patterns Designer Series Paper Stack.  Next came a piece of Night of Navy 3/8" Taffeta Ribbon tucked under the designer paper and simply knotted at the end.  I inked the tag image with Stampin' Write Markers in the two main colors along with Garden Green, stamped on Whisper White card stock and cut it out with Paper Snips.  The sentiment is also contained in this terrific stamp set but it's in a long line so that it wouldn't fit in the frame.  No problem!  I simply stamped it on a scrap piece of Whisper White card stock and snipped out each individual word then popped them up using Dimensionals.

Stampin’ Up! Year is a wrap!

Today, June 30th, is the last day of the Stampin' Up! year.  While we're all anxious to begin ordering from the new 2010-11 Idea Book & Catalog, let's be sure that you have everything you want from the old one!  Here's a look back at a couple of cards I've posted this year that are some of my favorites and contain retiring products.

Artistic Birthday

It's so much fun to have brand new colors and stamp sets to work with!  Here's a card I made for a very special friend and customer, Phyl Lyons, to celebrate her birthday.  Hope your day was filled with fun, friends, family and fond memories, Phyl!

Everything on this card is brand-spankin' new!  I received my Stampin' Up! order at 3:00PM and by 4:30PM had made two cards with all my loot!  This one features Early Espresso, Marina Mist and Daffodil Delight — all brand new Core Colors for 2010-11!  The designer paper is from a beautiful pack called Greenhouse Gala.  This is the perfectly designed package of paper — one side of the paper features a bold floral or stripe, the other side a soft muted tone-on-tone paper.  You'll have so many options with this great set of papers!  I stamped the Eiffel Tower image from Artistic Impressions stamp set — this versatile set is sure to be a favorite this year.  The sentiment is from Watercolor Trio stamp set, featured in the Summer Mini Catalog.  The paper gets some aging by crumpling it up then spritzing on Early Espresso using a Stampin' Write Marker along with the Color Spritzer Tool, as well as some Silver Foil Smooch Spritz.  And notice our pretty new ribbons?  We'll be carrying a new 1/8" Taffeta Ribbon which comes in 13 different colors!

I'm enjoying adding a little something to the envelope and the inside of my cards.  Simply carry over some aspects of the card front for that extra "wow"!  (I had written a personal message to Phyl before I remembered to take a picture, so I covered it up temporarily.)

A Look at the new In Colors

Here's my third and final posting of new colors in the color renovation for the 2010-11 Idea Book & Catalog.  Stampin' Up! has given us a gorgeous new In Color palette, and we're fortunate enough to have these beautiful colors staying on for TWO years instead of just one!  I'll give you the names below each card that I've made with Elements of Style stamp set.  Greetings are from Teeny Tiny Wishes.

Peach Parfait – A yummy strong peach – maybe think a light Pumpkin Pie.

Pear Pizzazz – I was really disappointed that Kiwi Kiss didn't make it back to the Core Colors, but this luscious green is almost it!  It's a little less bright and pairs beautifully (no pun intended!) with Wild Wasabi and Garden Green.

Poppy Parade – When I look at Poppy, I think it's just red, but put it next to Real Red and you'll see that it has a lot of orange to it.  We really don't have anything like this brand new color!

Concord Grape – When I first saw this color, I was convinced I'd never use it.  After all, we have Elegant Eggplant.  It was only on my shelf about a week before I made THIS CARD and now I'm absolutely lovin' it!

Blushing Bride – This is such a pretty soft mauve.  I had originally thought it might replace Blush Blossom, but it's quite a bit darker and much pinker.  Beautifully soft and feminine.

A Look at the Returning In Colors

It's so fun to reconnect with old friends!  Please welcome back some of our favorite In Colors from the past, now becoming Core Colors and staying with us for a good long while!  I'm continuing my grouping of 4" x 4" cards and showing you samples of the colors we've all been missing.  To see a past post on new Core Colors using the same cards, click HERE.  I used Elements of Style to stamp each card, along with sentiments from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Each color name is listed below the card.

Baja Breeze – will be joining our Subtles Collection and is lighter with a bit more green than Bashful Blue.

Riding Hood Red – Just a bit "quieter" than Real Red and not as dark as Cherry Cobbler, this red is sure to fit into lots of your projects!  This beautiful color will join our Regals Collection.

River Rock – Returning in the Neutrals Collection, this color is a chameleon!  Its color changes depending on what it's paired with.  It's probably considered a true khaki.

Wild Wasabi – A lighter version of Garden Green, this gorgeous color is returning as part of the Subtles Collection.

Tangerine Tango – This Brights Collection addition is a combination of Only Orange and Pumpkin Pie.

Pacific Point – One of the most gorgeous blues we've had, this is the updated Brilliant Blue for the Brights Collection.

A Look at the new Core Colors

There are now less than 2 weeks until the release of the 2010-11 Idea Book & Catalog, and the hot news is, of course, the huge color renovation!  I created this group of 4" x 4" cards to show you all of the brand new Core Colors that Stampin' Up! has added to the palette.  I used Elements of Style to stamp each card, along with sentiments from Teeny Tiny Wishes.  Each color name is listed below the card.

Cherry Cobbler:  A nice, deep red with vibrant tones and lots of life!

Early Espresso:  I always thought Chocolate Chip a deep brown until I met this fabulous color!

Marina Mist:  The PERFECT blue!

Cajun Craze:  Really Rust with attitude!  Love this "spicy" orange.

Daffodil Delight:  Finally – a really useful bright yellow!  Think Summer Sun updated for 2010.

Crumb Cake:  While this color is technically not new, Stampin' Up! has renamed Kraft and has added a matching Classic Stamp Pad.

Stay tuned — I'll be sharing the group of returning In Colors that will join the Core Colors, as well as the brand new In Colors for 2010-12.  Yes, that's right!  In Colors will be staying on for two years instead of just one!

Thomas the Tank Engine’s Happy Birthday

Grandson Liam's birthday was Saturday, and like most 3-year-old boys, he loves Thomas the Train!  This card, designed by Stampin' Up! demonstrator Pixie Elletson, was a must!  I added a few touches to make it my own, but basically followed her measurements for this terrific punch art idea.

Needless to say, it ended up being quite a large card.  I designed the track to fold forward and lie on the table when the card is standing.  Two hearts punched from Whisper White card stock and the Full Heart Punch serve as Thomas's smoke.  The Square Lattice Textured Impressions Folder for the Big Shot added some interest, and I found a piece of chipboard from a long-ago On Board Chipboard set to serve as the No. 3 on the front of the engine.  I colored it with Brilliant Blue Craft Ink, layered on some Clear Embossing Powder and used the Heat Tool to set it.  Inside I wrote a very corny saying, but perfect for this adorable card — "Chugga-chugga choo choo.  Happy Birthday to You!"

Here's the birthday boy enjoying helping the entire family put up a new play set in his back yard, a gift from his mom and dad.

Touch and Feel Birthday Card

My grandson Landon is really in to the touch and feel board books right now.  And that was my inspiration for this fun birthday card!

I combined four of my favorite In Colors to create this card — Rich Razzleberry, Bermuda Bay, Crushed Curry and Melon Mambo.  Each layer has something to "touch and feel" — lots of texture!  I ran the Bermuda Bay card stock through the Big Shot using the diamond Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plate.  TIP:  Spritz your card stock with water before using the texturz plates to get a crisper image.  Next came some Textured Crushed Curry card stock then Melon Mambo card stock stamped with Craft Black ink then Black Embossing Powder and heat embossed using the Heat Tool.  (The cat image is done in the same way.)  The main image combines two sets — C is for Cat and Four Square for the "happy birthday" sentiment.  I added some more texture with a crochet flower from Fleurettes II and a Clear Rhinestone Brad.
