Lots of Card Samples!

At our weekend retreat, there were lots of sample boards from team members showing off their creativity with Stampin’ Up! products.  Many were great Christmas card ideas, and it’s certainly time to be thinking about them.  I’ll share several with you today and more later on!  Unfortunately, I didn’t write down who created what so I’m not able to give credit to our talented artists.

Team display card 4A

I was really drawn to the watercolor effect background for this card using For All Things stamp set.  And the Autumn Wooden Element is a great touch.

Team display card 3A

The quilter in me just adored this beautiful card.  And it’s a great way to use up your designer paper scraps!  Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack is the focal point here, with the sentiment coming from Festival of Trees stamp set.

Team display card 5A

I loved the homespun take on the Bright & Beautiful stamp set.  The addition of the Star Embossing Folder, Doily and Burlap Trim are nice accents.

Team display card 1A

Here in New York, we can only dream of flowers and sunshine right now, but I love this sample using Kinda Eclectic paired with Petite Petals stamp sets.

Team display card 2A

And here’s another beautiful sample of Kinda Eclectic stamp set – this set has got to be one of the most versatile we’ve had in a while!  Love all you can do with the various collage images.

I hope you’ve enjoyed seeing a bit of the creative powers of my team members.

Shoe Box Swap for the Weekend Retreat

Team Creative Convention

This past weekend, we met at Onanda Park on beautiful Canandaigua Lake for our annual weekend retreat.  We had a blast getting to know each other better, being silly, eating wonderful food and, of course, stamping instead of sleeping!  Pictured here are the members of my team who were able to come.  We had a fun photo op our final evening.

One of the highlights of our weekend is a shoe box swap.  For those of you who might not have done one of these before, you design a card, cut all of the supplies for making the card, plus the punches, inks and stamps, and put them in a shoe box.  Saturday evening was the time to put them all together.  I was blown away by everyone’s creativity!  I’ll share some of the shoebox swap designs from others in another post, but for now, I’ll share mine.

This is the card I brought for my shoe box swap.  I was on a roll with the Baby Wipe Technique that I showed you in a previous post so I continued on that same theme.

Seasonally Scattered Merry

  • Colors for the ink refills are Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo, Soft Sky and Lost Lagoon.  Refer back to the instructions on this card to create your own stamp pad using ink refills.
  • I stamped on Shimmery White cardstock – it doesn’t look a lot different from Whisper White cardstock in the photo, but when you see it “in person” it does make a nice, subtle difference with a little sparkle to go with the snowflakes.
  • Accents are some fun Frosted Sequins along with a Rich Razzleberry Candy Dot, and the bottom banner is Rich Razzleberry Designer Series Paper from the Bolds Paper Stack, Lost Lagoon Ribbon and a Silver Button tied with White Baker’s Twine.

Stamping with Baby Wipe Technique

Seasonally Scattered baby wipe

I just love using the Baby Wipe Technique with Stampin’ Up! Ink Refills!  And this technique works really well with Seasonally Scattered, a fun stamp set in the Holiday Catalog.  Here’s how you’ll begin:

  • Choose about 4 colors for your palette.  I wanted this to be a Fall look, but I also wanted it to look just a little different than the usual colors, so I chose Crushed Curry, Rose Red, Garden Green and Eggplant Envy.

Regals Ink Refills

  • Fold a baby wipe in half and lay it on a surface that won’t bleed through.  I use my old-style stamp case.  This way, I can shut the lid and my inks stay wet for quite some time.
  • Squeeze about 10 drops of each color ink onto the baby wipe, being sure not to leave white spaces between the colors.

Baby Wipe Technique

  • Press your stamp into your homemade ink pad then stamp.  Be sure to clean your stamp each time you use it so that your colors don’t get muddy.

Seasonally Scattered baby wipe closeup

  • I used a thin border of Elegant Eggplant cardstock between the two layers of Very Vanilla.  My accessories are the Hello Honey Ribbon (close enough to the Crushed Curry ink) with an Autumn Wooden Element.

STAMP-A-STACK
Here’s a look at the 4 Stamp-A-Stack Options for November:

Stamp-A-Stack “By Mail!” kits give you lots of flexibility! There are four different options – card design A, B, C and D.  You can opt to make 1 design, 2 designs, 3 designs or all 4 designs. The designs are sold in quantities of 6. So if you select design B, you will make 6 of them. If you select all of the designs, you will make 6 of each for a total of 24 cards! If you really like one design, you can do multiple “batches” of that design. So for example, if you just love design C and want to make it in mass quantity, you can choose to do 12, 18, 24, 30…60 – however many you want in increments of 6. Want to do 18 each of 2 designs? No problem!

Mix and match HOWEVER YOU WANT in quantities of 6.

When you order in “bulk” (24 cards or more) you’ll get a price break for each batch of 6!

  1. Make 6 cards of 1 design for $15 or FREE with a minimum order of $25
  2. Make 12 cards (either 1 design or 6 each of 2 designs) for $30 or FREE with a minimum order of $45
  3. Make 18 cards (either 1 design, 6 each of 3 designs or 12 of 1 design and 6 of another) for $45 or FREE with a minimum order of $60
  4. SAVE PER CARD! Make 24 cards (either 1 design, 6 each of all 4 designs or any combination) for $55 or FREE with a minimum order of $70
  5. Order as many as you’d like over 24 for $13.75 per each batch of 6 or FREE with a minimum order of $17.50 for each batch of 6. EXAMPLE: Make 60 cads (any combination) for $137.50 or FREE with a minimum order of $175.
To receive your kits free with an order, see ordering information at the beginning of my post.
To pay the flat pricing, select the quantity you want below. In “notes to sender” at checkout, please indicate which design(s) you want. If you forget to add that note to your payment, you can e-mail me at krisshuels@gmail.com.

Four Feathers and Eye-Catching Ikat

Four Feathers and Ikat

I just love the addition of the Four Feathers stamp set and coordinating Feathers Framelits to the 2014 Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog.  I have lots of Native American art in my home, and so I looked at what I could pair this great stamp set with to achieve that effect.  Lo and behold – I found a set in my collection that I haven’t used a lot called Eye-Catching Ikat.  Since this stamp set is in photopolymer, I was able to line up my stamping to create my own designer paper by stamping in Crushed Curry, Tempting Turquoise and Cajun Craze.

    • I stamped two of the feathers on Very Vanilla cardstock.  For the third feather, I stamped on Tempting Turquoise cardstock with VersaMark and sprinkled on Silver Embossing Powder, then heat set with the Heat Tool.
    • Wasn’t sure where to add my sentiment, so I decided to cut out an extra feather and stamp a simple “hello” from A Dozen Thoughts stamp set on it.
    • I added additional “sterling silver” accents using a Silver Button and a strip of Silver Foil run through the Big Shot using the zig-zag framelit in the Finishing Touches Edgelits.

I tried adding some Candy Dots with Brad Bases, but I think it’s too much – thought I’d show you anyway.  What do you think?  Leave me a comment!
